@@FigureSkatingFan i forgot which competition, but i remember when nathan got 1st place, yuzu was lamenting (not hyperbole lmao) his fall on a quad, y'know not blaming others. but what's cuter is nathan being awkward, unable to approach yuzu. with 2 adorkable skaters like this, i hope some fans from both skaters will be more chill y'know

There is this thing about Nathan that makes my frustration from the competition melts away whenever I hear him speak in press conferences. He sounds very down to earth and kind. Also love the fact that both him and Yuzu respect each other so much, they don’t give media the intense rivalry narrative they ask for lol they are like “he’s amazing” “he’s wonderful” towards each other we love to see it

Totally agree! There is so much commentary about who is underscored or overscored, and then you see these two interact. It's abundantly clear that they have the utmost respect for each other regardless of any politics, and they are both equally dedicated to pushing the boundaries of the sport itself.

It's very much the same as " you know?" and I'd translate it as " etto, ee---tto, ano , anoooh" even though "you know?" can be " Ne, Desho, Daro" but it's emphasis at the end of a sentence that realyy has no meaning by itself. Bad manner of speech.

I feel bad for Yuzuru. He maintained his usual calmness at the press, but the fact that he couldn't perform the best in his FS was because his asthma occurred just before the FS. He was reportedly asking for a medical help from one of the Russian doctors before coming to the ice. And there were other incidents on that day, which all made his nerve unstable. He never said about his asthma episode because he didn't want to make any excuse of his poor performance. That was Yuzuru. Yet, personally I really feel sorry for his bad condition.

@@FigureSkatingFan please make the story a "serious life story" of one guy who has been struggling with this illness for his entire life. And do not forget his mother. It was his mother who encouraged Yuzuru to challenge any sports by telling him that even a man with asthma could win an Olympic game and by taking him to a former Olympic winner (not of the figure skating but of the speed skating) for the signature of Pluchenko! whom Yuzuru worshipped from the age of 4.

And there was a scene where Yuzuru mentioned what his mother was doing to support him. I liked the scene of her sewing his costume, with Johnny Weir watching her, too.

I love the friendly and respectful relationship they have towards eachother. So refreshing. I'm an out and out Fanyu, but I really like Nathan for who he is. I'm sure both have gained many more fans all over the world.

You know, Nathan is such a tough competitor, yet, so humble and down to earth. Love him! He's not the dramatic type and really doesn't care all that much about attention. He always credits others(see how much he's praising Yuzuru), and he takes responsibility when he doesn't do well. He never gives excuses, you know, so I hope he earns his much deserved Olympic gold medal next year in Beijing ^^

I hope Yuzu is okay...he apparently had to have a doctor from one of the Russian skater’s team to take a look at him because he has asthma 😰 He didn’t look well before skating his Free program...

He had an asthma attack, during the fs, and after it, he said to a russian interwiev that, he started to feel a little bad at the 6 minutes warm up, but he was fine util he finished the skating, and then after that he started to feel bad, but luckily it wasnt a realy hard asthma attack, so he was fine like 10 or 15 minutes after it, at least thats what he said in the russian interwiev.

But in Japan it is considered very, very rude to think about sth without saying anything. Like over here you just think, not making any noises and drift silently through your head catching what you wanna say. Impossible for Japanese. They use eto, ano as bridges while trying to catch their thought/being in the thought process to not let the other participant feel like being left out (somewhat like if there are a lot of people in the group and one or two don't get dragged into the conversation by the others and are just bystanders, introverts excluded in this example xDD ). ;) No offense just putting out some culture differences there for everyone who is interested in it. ^-^

Very interesting. While in Western culture, at least what was taught here in PH schools fillers like um, ahh, uhh, you know, are not favorable, whether conversational English and even more so in public speaking, Filipino or English.

In russian we called it "parasite words" and most of the time its a bad thing. P.s. russians also say "eto" a lot and it means "this(is)" which is kinda weird if u think about that... P.p.s. my personal parasite word is "etot" and I hate it!

He said in a recent interview that 3 days before the competition he decided not to put in the 4A into his program because he said it was not perfect yet. Although there are no recorded clips of him landing the jump he did say that he can land it. In the press conference he also mentioned the 4A a lot and said that his is only main goal at the moment is to land it in a competition!! ❤️
