I already tried this method. The only problem i found out about this was that the roots were deprived of the space thus it does not have enough space for growth so the plant won’t grow big enough compared to those that were planted in a wide area of soil. Also it consumes a lot of water when it already reached it’s full extent so in time you will still have to water the base like everyday. For me, ornaments and herbals with small leaves such as parsely and basils are ok but not for big leaf plants like petchay and lettuces. But for sure it’s worth a try for beginners, you might learn something new that i don’t. Thats what i love about planting, every experience is worth it.
lea estrada hi! I’m not really sure because alliums needs proper spacing since they bulb out and multiply so if you will plant it inside a container they might have no room to grow.. but just incase you will try i would suggest using loamy or peaty soil. Since it is more loose and slightly acidic best soil for onions and garlic.
certainly, smaller containers can grow smaller plants and not larger plants, right? This is a bottle. You can't expect to grow larger plants with it. But definitely, using this method and understanding what is behind it, can allow you to do the same for larger containers and larger plants. An example is that some people use this idea for large tote containers or 5 gallon buckets, which allow them to grow more typical garden vegetable plants that you might grow in the ground or in larger containers.
You can have more space if you use an empty 2 litter soda bottle instead of empty 1 litter soda bottles. Even more space may be obtained by stacking empty soda bottles one on top of the other. Cut the top and bottom off and make holes in the sides of the bottles then put twist ties in the holes to hold the bottles in place. Tape a black bag around the bottles to prevent light from reaching sensitive plant roots. For free fertilizer place dandelion flowers in your watering can. Placing leaves on top of the soil for mulch this may reduce the need for frequent watering. If soil becomes too wet Make some holes in the sides of the soda bottles to release excess moisture.
Thank q sir u just gave me the inspiration! I was wondering what should i use to keep it wet from under. My house got a lot foam i will use it. Thanks!
Thank you sir. Short & sweet video offering 3 options. And then u repeated the 3 methods at the end. Very helpful. And brilliant way to reduce landfill waste 😍
An easy way to make holes in the bottles is to grab a nail with pliers and heat the nail on top of candle then push the hot nail in to the bottle. Do this outside to avoid creating harmful fumes inside your home.
Napaka-useful ho nitong video na ito dahil sa dito sa may time na nalilimutan kong lagyan ng tubig ang mga halaman ko, at least this way ay puwedeng pabayaan ng a few days.
hi sir! i've learned a lot from your vids on planting veggies at home. ask ko lang, is it possible for you to do a video on how to plant cauliflower at home?
What type of vegetables can you grow in this method, WITHOUT the need to replant it in a pot? I want to grow vegetables right from start to end in this method. Which veg would you suggest for a beginners like me?
Short term leafy vegetables. Those that can harvested in as short as thirty days are ideal such as lettuces, wombok, mustard. Even chili plants can be planted in pet bottles as shown in one of my videos. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MDPfBABkqCI.html
I have not yet seen mold in my pet bottles. It is possible if the bottles are not exposed to direct sunlight. Molds and fungus thrive in cold and dark areas.
Hi Sir! Very nice video po, simple and yet very helpful. At the same time very relaxing. If I may ask po, ano title ng background music na ginamit po ninyo? Thank you po!
