First 2 rounds I was like cmon you’re letting this fight slip away, then boom constant forward pressure nonstop, I can see why people love petchboonchu
These fighters that relentlessly march forward into constant clinching are a pain in the arse. If it were based on damage inflicted, variety and effectiveness of strikes rather than gambling then Nong O should’ve won that fight.
i agree. i also see it as quid pro quo. the first couple of rounds, the clinching type might take some punishment before being able to fall into the rhythm of consistently getting this clinch in and following up with their own strikes/sweeps
Someone can seriously explain why Pet wins, cause it's seems the ending clear for both of them at the middle of 5th round. Even if Pet gave more knees, nong-O give a game-play many more versatile, various, and with succes. His defence in 3th and 4th was strong, and he Reply with counter-attack, i have sen a good elbow, many sweep... So why ?
Maybe because of dominance game.. scoring wise nong o was definitely landing more shots, but pet was very dominate during the first few rounds.. scoring in Thailand is hard to understand sometimes
Pet won because of clinch control and dominance. Knees score higher than kicks and punches, sweeps dont really score as high as you'd think, a lot of the times depending on the stadium, judges will score higher on agression and clinching (Muay Khao style) versus kicking, sweeping and evasiveness (Muay Femur style)
That's modern Muay Thai for you. The rules favor clinch techniques hence It's a clinch fest and why muay thai is dead and boring and a parasite of MMA. It's success as of late is arguably because of the UFC boom. Nong-O is a good fighter who is willing to strike, hence in my eyes he is one of my favorite fighters to watch.
nong-o was much smaller, which means both outside kick and inside clinch were not his game in this fight. He had some good trap but it was obvious that he tried but failed to control or turn his opponent inside. A technical loss.
This heavy emphasis on strenght and clinch really ruined stadium muay thai. I know Petch is strategically very smart and his clinch game is very strong but its very boring to watch and those knees weren't doing any damage. They should take that into considerationg as well in the scoring. In MMA there also was a while were guys would have a very strong top game and would just 'lay&pray' for points. Untill they adapted the scoring. You have to do damage and take risks. Otherwise what are we watching here?
Nong-O landed a few clean elbows on Petch's face, if that doesn't score higher than that clinch-brawl Pitch displayed, then I don't know what the point of Muay Thai is
@Leonis Krigorian i somewhat agree. Sweeps make a big difference YES but its more prominent now. Even dieselnoi said its more on clinching then sweeps nowadays that is why fighters that strength train more and able to throw the other guy prevails.
Petchboonchu is the most horrifyng Lumpinee Champion to watch in the ring! Nong-O (just like Saenchai) won this match and all the others against him,100%!
Petch was able to initiate the clinch every round, but Nong-O landed better elbows and threw Petch more. Who cares if you can get a clinch if you then get beat up in the clinch. Nong-O wins IMO
@@RollblackMadrid still alot of his knees just didn't land and he was getting thrown and isn't the scoring system damage> everything nong o was doing way more damage
