I love this guy, she practically threw him to the dogs by saying that stuff and he was so respectful even in his jokes. I don't think she's saying she's unwilling to compromise at all, she's just unwilling to compromise herself. She loved them but it wasn't right, she learned from them, they learned from her, and they let each other go. Considering most mainstream songs these days I really don't consider that toxic. Your comment reads like something my ex would say, he still can't figure out why I "wouldn't compromise" or "try to keep our family together" after the umpteenth time he put his hands on me. Leaving relationships isn't always toxic, and staying isn't always good.
