This was my all time favorite Disney movie when I was an Adolescent. This song and the song “It’s not easy” with Helen Reddy and Sean Marshall are still two of my most endearing memories from my late childhood. I’d sing It’s not easy to my own kid and grandkids over and over. And R.I.P Helen Reddy, Mickey Rooney and Shelly Winters. Irreplaceable.
Pete's Dragon was not my favorite of Disney's movie list. But I have grown to really appreciate the heck out of it. I never seen the remake version of it, nor do I feel tempted to. The magic of the original cannot be recreated.
I felt the same way you did, until I watched it. It's actually quite good. The story does take a slight dark turn at one point which caught me off guard, but it wasn't anything that I'd say tarnished the legacy of the original. Worth a watch, even if only once.
A lovely musical number, imaginatively filmed and sung by Helen Reddy, Mickey Rooney and Sean Marshall. The clever choreography was by Onna White who’d won an Oscar for her work on OLIVER!

I went loads times to see Petes Dragon at my local cinema. I had the movie soundtrack with all the songs on it. Sadly the cinema was closed and demolished but the cinema held a lot of fond memories for me. It gave me my love for cinema and my 1st job when I left school was i trained to be a Cinema Projectionist. I loved the job. My hobby was film making and to work with the bigger projectors and get a wage was just brilliant

You know I'm thinking, I work at a Retirement Home here where I live and they're always putting on the old classics and the residents love them. I bet they'll love this movie!
Alex I don't disagree. That is a song that's optimistic and better than dealing with unpleasant and unfortunate truths about uncertainty. I speak to matters that have produced great sadness all over the planet. Aye - bottoms up :-)!
That would be SO lovely! I LOVE that Elliott is still in the Electrical Parade but it would be SO GOOD to see Pete, Lampie and Nora singing this wonderful song on a lighthouse.
I'd forgotten Helen Reddy passed away. I wonder if she wrote a memoir? She must've had stories working with Mickey Rooney. That man was as crazy as a loon!

I can totally picture Ariel, Rapunzel from Tangled, Cindy Bear, Sawyer from Cats don’t dance, Jewel from Rio, King Trition, Geppetto, Bagheerah, Rafael also from Rio, Arthur/Wart from The Sword in the Stone, Mowgli, Oliver from Oliver and Company, Simba and Mort from Madagascar singing this together.
