I had just as crappy of experience as Pete (we're the same age) did when being put in Special Education classes. I was just thrown in these special education classes when all I needed was a tutor. One of my middle school special education classes was held in a cramped pantry closet in the school kitchen, I kid you not! Being a kid is tough enough back then but to be treated like crap (inferior to the other students) like that still affects me today.
