I relate to Pete Shelley, not only because his great music in the Buzzcocks and on his own, but because he struggled a lot with depression, like I have. RIP, Pete (he died in December of 2018 of a heart attack.)
I wonder if any of the instruments being played in this performance are actually audible here? 'Cause it sounds like it's just the backing track of the record, but with him singing live.
Picked up many moons ago a pre Buzzcocks purely electronic album He made with a homemade synth " Sky Yen", it's much as I love Pete not His most exciting work.
Note the god-like Barry Adamson playing bass on this track. His bass thunders to great effect all through the XL1 album, especially on 'Many A Time'. It will blow your mind. Sounded like it had come from space when XL1 came out in 1983.
I been trying to remember the name of this program too. But I was able to put myself out of my misery when I searched for the Questions and Style Council because I remember them being on the same show so I did a search and found the actual clip. The programme was called Switch. Was a great programme. I remember recording the show every week as well as the Tube on my battered old Betamax tapes which I sadly no longer possess. Player died it's death a long time ago. I remember recording this clip also. Love Pete Shelley and the Buzzcocks. Sadly missed. R.I.P
Whatever happened to the actual music video for this song? It used to be on here...why would anyone take that off? I liked the sound quality of that version much better.
