That was a great day..and a great display you and Peter put together. I am always amused by Martins Legs. So glad to see he had a ball to chase with those kicking legs. And the snake is always a favorite too. Great day for you..so glad!
The legs didn't stay up for long, Priscilla, as the Octopus' line was really at too low an angle for them. I'll have to fly them on a different lifter next time.
Good to hear from you, Jo. Sadly, we have gone into total Covid-19 lockdown here in NZ, after the Delta variant was brought in. I hope it won't last too long, as I have lots of kites that I want to fly. I loved your last video - that piece would be a good soundtrack for a kite video, I think.
Thank you. We always try to have a bit of a variety, but Peter has a limited collection so I try to ring the changes with mine as much as I can. I, of course, have far TOO many kites!
I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. It might take you a few years to catch up on them all, but you're just a young fellow anyway. I'll be 80 if I get to October, so I don't know how much longer I'll be flying and producing videos.
You made my days, just beIN funny about selling popcorn, much much thanks. PS. I also fly fighter kites. We always flew kites. I made the papers here in Chicago, one sunny day after a snow storm my wife and two babies ,cleared the snow we had a picnic it was 35 degrees.
Now that’s quite the display! Loved it. So, I’m not the only one who ordered something in red and they sent green instead (that green 7m trilobite in my last video). I’m always fascinated by those snake wheels.
It's often not worth the hassle of trying to get things changed, Ken, as you know. Yes, the snake wheels are great fun, as long as you avoid tangling the lines, which shouldn't happen anyway unless one or more come loose, which is what happened to me with that smaller wheel.
That's my big worry for my kite collection, Mark. I'd hate to think of most of the kites being dumped, but that may well happen. I'll be 79 tomorrow, so won't be flying forever.
@@JimNicholls Well...Happy birthday, 'kid'! You keep flying that great collection. Maybe one day it will end up in a kite museum. Surely your family will fly them with many years of enjoyment and wonderful memories. I turned 70 in September, not slowing down yet, and many more years to fly God willing. Thanks for the daily show of beautiful kites you share with the world, enjoyed by all. Have a blast on your big day!
Thanks, Mark. Weather not suitable for a birthday fly today, but I do have a video to upload. No chance my sons will ever fly my kites, but I just hope they can pass them on to someone who will.
Sorry to hear that, Graham. A pity you can't be here - we haven't had a new case in about ten days, and seem to be about to have almost total freedom again - until someone brings the bug in again, no doubt! The banner looked great, and Peter was very impressed by how well it was made. Keep safe!
Oh wow! Another great vid. How lucky were those ppl to arrive on that day and see that display!!?? It looked almost like the January kite day kicking off early! Lol
Glad you liked it. Have you made your bookings yet? And if you haven't already seen it, take a look at my video of last January's event: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CghpqrXiirk.html
Yes, we're lucky. I know how even a mile or so inland things are quite different, and in a city it's almost impossible to find a steady enough wind to fly anything.
Wait, what, say again??? That trilobite was made by Peter?!?!?? Please express to him my most heart felt compliments on his skill and imagination. I'm green with envy. 😒
Yes, and without a pattern, Vito. He just borrowed one of mine to have a look at it, and then produced something that was even better. He's self-taught, and I wish I had even half his skill.
i will never understand how people do kites like this so professionally. this just seems like a nightmare, fun to take off and fun to watch fly but i cant even get my singular kites to come down peacefully, they always get all tangled up and its just a big ordeal lol. i sit there at the park attempting to unravel the line for hours before i end up leaving. maybe im just bad at kites.
Experience is a good teacher - I used to have problems when I started flying, but after lots of practice it all comes quite naturally now, although there is still a tangle on rare occasions. Using the right line is important - a lot of cheaper kites come with twisted line, which is easily tangled. Braided dacron is the only line I use, and the way you wind it onto your reel is important, too, to stop it ravelling up. See ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HUtYuu2eydY.html on this, and there are a lot more videos in my "How to..." playlist for help on other aspects of flying.
Love watching your spring arrive as we slide into Fall here in Alaska. Quick question regarding the Martin Legs. It looks like it's the smaller version and you attached it via a carbiner correct? I have a smaller version and that looks like a great way to show it off even when there is not enough wind for it to fly solo.
Correct, Tim. I seldom fly it on its own these days - it's much easier just to put it on another kite's line, although the Octopus line was really rather too low an angle.
Meiumi, you are the only one who has asked that question - no-one else seems to have noticed. Actually, it's in one of the shots in this video, (you have to look carefully), but I'll show it fully sometime in the next few days.
