Very insightful piece. Loved ATF in the day. Memories of the Signs of Change period at the Marquee. Me and my chums from our church were standing at the bar before the gig and Peter came up and said hello and asked how we were. As well as the Hammond IIRC he had a rotary cab. I can remember the speaker spinning at various speeds that evening Would love to know why Andy switched to bass when Nick left. His guitar work of Signs of Change was great. I suppose John Russell’s style was more new wave
Thanks for a very informative interview. After The Fire deserved much more success and recognition then they had. They were a great band whose music I still play today. Pleased that they finally have cleared their financial debt!
Like Mark Chatterton I, as a long time (and by now quite old) fan of ATF, found this interview really interesting. Peter 'Memory' Banks certainly lived up to the name by recalling lots of details of the band's development. All I need now is a copy of the unreleased album! Thanks guys.
I'm an ATF fan from Russia :) Maybe the only one... Thank You for the interview! Early ATF works (Joy, Dance of The Marionette, Signs of Change,...) sound totally unique. Anyway, Der Komissar is more familiar to the mass audience and has its own charm
