Sure, he's been voicing him for a really long time and he has a pretty intimate connection with the character, but he's just one person. It would make sense if he provided some input on how Optimus should act, but he doesn't deserve to have full control over how he should be. No one does.

I think that if they had made as if he was being influenced aside being hunted and having his friends and followers killed mercilessly, then it would stand to reason that he would say that line, plus be as violent as he was even towards humans.

And I personally feel like Optimus would only take killing if it’s a last resort which never happens unless the enemy is stubborn enough to ignore Optimus’ warning or telling them to stand down If I had to take a guess, I bet the line Peter was referring to was the new Beastwars bc sure Prime was still new to this “leadership” thing in the movie since it takes place after Bumblebee but hearing Peter talking as Optimus abt killing the enemy or even getting revenge seemed so out of character even after Bee’s life was taken I just don’t know or understand why, but it felt wrong to see Prime in that light for me but it’s my opinion

"Give me your face" was right for Bays Optimus Prime. Seeing as this is loosely based on G1, it's nearly impossible to imagine G1 prime saying this. Still sounds cool as hell though. I understand why the director wanted it in the movie

There is a comic book where the motherfucking T-800 Terminator rigs the Ark with cybertronian explosives and obliterates 90% of the Autobots while 5 or 6 of them are away fighting the Decepticons. This is after Optimus and the T-800 formed a truce to band together and defeat the Decepticons. Did Optimus go on a Terminator killing spree? No, he somberly laments their death, and quickly brings up the morales of the few Autobots still alive.

Ratchet's death always saddened me and Iron Hides. They didn't deserve that 😭

Nemesis in TLK could have been the perfect opportunity for the writers to actually acknowledge the "moral decay" argument some fans have and had Prime not mind-controlled but having finally hit rock bottom, though that would also require TLK to have had good writers and a director who had to be bribed cause he wanted to finished the films with DOTM.

well it makes sense for Prime to now be out for blood seeing the Decepticons and Sentinel absolutely level a city. Imo it would've been a bit cheesy for him to just pop up and be like "we were alive all along" like it wouldn't have fit the tone for the 3rd act of the movie

i think it's a perfect line for what just happened, this was like 5 seconds after seeing a decepticon vaporise innocent people trying to escape, so hearing prime say that gives me hope that the rest of the cons in Chicago doing the same thing will get their justice

Exactly no one seems to get that, movie primes gone through a lot, he went to war with his brother, lost his mentor, his planet died, his 1st lieutenant died, he lost the one thing that could bring his home back, literally died (which to be honest could have been very traumatic mixed with coming back to life) got betrayed by his mentor who killed his best friend, watched his planet turn to space dust, was betrayed by his human allies and hunted, found out they killed his other best friend just so they can use their corpses to make mindless drones that are trying to replace you, tried to kill his only surviving member of his original team and finally watch his planet die for a 3rd time. I'm pretty sure most if not all optimus primes would change after that

I'd be too if they tried killing autobots whilst fighting for the Allspark, finding the Matrix to use it to destroy sun's, or invade Earth and fking up Chicago and planting pillars to reform Cybertron over and over again lol

IDW Prime had to fight a war that spread across the entire galaxy for 4 million years compared Bay Prime only fighting on 2 planets for a few thousand, or Armada Prime after fighting for millions of years stepped down as leader cause he saw he had become unworthy of being leader. There's no thought put into Bay Prime's character by the writers. It was just "what looks/sounds cool" and so you have Prime acting all SG Prime-like in one scene and giving a speech about freedom in the next with none of the characters seeing a difference or issue between the two. It would be like when writing MCU Cap they had all the characters look to and treat him like MCU Cap but the writers had him talk and act like the Punisher and never brought any attention to it.

I think a some of the Bayverse designs were pretty good. It's just that some of the Decepticon designs weren't that interesting, and the transformers became more human-like in the later movies for some reason.

To be fair I thought Optimus in TF1 was pretty accurate. Kind, caring, but not a pushover either. He cared about humans as well as the Autobots. Later movies though it didn't really feel like Optimus anymore, even if his reaction to the circumstances he found himself in were understandable.
