@@mina_loi I think it was just an errant comment about dwarves in fantasy being largely stereotypical and having no nuance, which is kinda wrong but also kinda right.
Sweden has the best Military History Metal band ever! THROUGH THE GATES OF HELL, AS WE MAKE OUR WAY TO HEAVEN, THROUGH THE NAHTZEE LINES, PRIMO VICTORIA!
13:18 reminds me of the old lady from adventure time who tells finn some advice about using violence for the right thing and then says dont trust old people 😊
Brothers looks like a remake of the 1988 movie Twins, that stars Arnold and Danny DeVito. Looking it up, the director is inspired by that movie. Before people attack me, yes I'm a fan of the 1988 movie, I'm only making an observation. I can't criticize something I haven't watched.
I saw one random episode. Some blond kid got hot and bothered because a girl shot a taxidermied animal with a crossbow. Decided that was enough Game Of Thrones for me. 😂
Living in Oblivion in actually a pretty based film. It stars Steve Buscemi and Peter says "No one fucking dreams of dwarfs I don’t even dream of dwarves."
As much as I used to like Peter Dinklage, I just cant ignore the fact he berated Hollywood for even thinking about creating movie roles for Dwarves because he is in such a privledged position now that he doesnt need them.
@@613-shadow9 But why push the already ostracized actors who are a literal one-to-one depiction of the characters? Imagine if they recast Willow as a horrible CGI or ignored the Dwarf status.
@LucioXIVGilmez Does that even apply to public domain movies? What's the logic behind that? Is it just Disney who shouldn't make live action retellings, or does it apply to all movie studios? Of course they're never going to be good, but it's not offensive or disrespectful? Just laugh at Disney for trying it and move on.
Look he’s been getting criticism for what he said about dwarf rolls in Hollywood but I think he was really criticizing the woke hypocrisy in Hollywood. People took what he said and misconstrued it. I’ve been fan of Peter since I saw him in The Station Agent.
na he clearly made it seem that they were making them the stereotypical dwarfs in stories. he spoke out his ass and he trying to save himself. if every other dwarfism actors and actresses didn’t care and called him out then did they misunderstand him too or what?
Wow, the hypocrisy of such a little man is comparable to that of 10 normal men. Pretty sure i remember him doing the same shit behind the scenes for Snow White.
I'm glad all these comments are here cause I thought I was crazy. Peter dinklage antagonized Hollywood for even daring to create "dwarf" roles for those with dwarfism. It's why you never see any actual dwarfs anymore like in og willy Wonka. Now they're all cgi or just one dude copy pasted all over. It's kinda like when proZD attacked the dub industry for giving people character roles that don't match their skin color or race and now he's all pissy that he's only getting offers for exclusively Asian appearing characters
Peter is good at playing a smart character, the problem is that some writers struggle with writing one 😅 Also when talking about hsi voice i cannot stop to think about te Destiny thing, like what went wrong there?
Eh i will say Sean's sauces are fairly good. Like his show revolves around that stuff. Most sauces you find are like vinegar, spicy peppers and a mixture of like butter/oil for wing sauces. His sauces have actual flavor. Even with the last dab like through the pretty spicy level. Theres still good flavor. Also im from buffalo and regularly go to wing events regularly. So have had a couple sauces to compare in my lifetime. 😂
Peter Dinklage seems like the sort of guy that knows a good chicken wing though, especially when he's describing flavors. Unless they gave him the script, I don't think he hates the sauce, anyway.
Peter Dinklage's recent comments on Modern Hollywood are nothing short of a wake-up call. His insights shed light on the persistent issues of stereotyping and the lack of authentic representation in the industry. It's refreshing to see someone of his stature speak out against the cliched narratives that have plagued Hollywood for far too long. Dinklage's ability to articulate his thoughts clearly underscores the frustration many in the entertainment community feel about how marginalized groups are often portrayed. He emphasizes the need for more inclusive storytelling, where actors of all backgrounds can portray complex characters without being confined to literal or figurative boxes. It's incredible to think about how far we've come since the early days of cinema, yet there's still a long way to go. Dinklage's words resonate deeply, reminding us that real change requires both an acknowledgement of past mistakes and a commitment to doing better moving forward. If Hollywood can embrace this challenge, the narratives we tell could not only be richer but also more reflective of the diverse world we live in. Let's hope that his passionate plea inspires creators and decision-makers to rethink the stories they tell and who gets to tell them. Here's to a future where storytelling is as varied and vibrant as the world itself!
Did you just completely forget that Hollywood does like press tour to promote movies or books or whatever before they release? Lmao that is not some conspiracy theory
Peter it's the type of actor that can be in a terrible horrible movie, worst of the year and still you know every second he's gonna be on screen it's gonna be the best parts of it
I can tell people are going to be weird about the whole "Snow White" thing in the comments, so let me just say - he made a comment about it in an episode of an obscure podcast. That's it. He didn't force their hand. He didn't talk to a committee and try to get the film changed. He wasn't trying to speak on behalf of people with dwarfism. _Disney_ were the ones who made the decision.
He’s like the most famous dwarf in Hollywood. If you think he has no pull when it comes to his community then Idk what to tell you. Like b4 the cgi they got regular sized people lol. I highly doubt they would’ve done that b4 his comments. Bc who actually sits there & thinks “Hey what if we make the dwarfs regular sized people. In a live action remake? Plus make 1 of them a woman” lmao
Even if he was screaming into an empty void, he still said what he said. It's still worthy of criticism, and to my knowledge, he still hasn't retracted it.
He is free to have his opinion getting there are 2 sides to it if you type cast a dwarf to be an elf or dwarf you are dehumanizing them or if you don’t you are removing their roles. It depends on how you preserve it as a good actor who doesn’t want to do only dwarf roles because he believes he can play any role and be him it’s not that malicious. Attributing motive to one’s speech is not cool and he most likely didn’t mean it like you portray it
Wasn't this the dude that made things infinitely harder for dwarves to get work in mainstream film and media? ...if so, I wouldn't be singing his praises too hard (regardless of how many facts he spits)
The way you phrase it makes it sound like he made that change alone, which ignores another much larger factor. Companies like Disney and their heavy reliance on CGI. Dwarf acting roles were starting to dry up as the practical effect characters they were playing/controlling from within were replaced with CGI abominations. Then you have the unwillingness of these companies to just hire people with dwarfism for roles that don't objectify if not actively dehumanize their lack of height. Ironically the aforementioned fact is literally what he was commenting on during the WTF podcast interview... and Hollywood was happy to prove his point.
Yeah, Sean and Nardwuar are some of the best interviewers out there. Thoughtful questions and they both have those curveballs like that fact about his 90's band in this vid.
I can understand that people are mad that he destroyed Snow White, but he must have not wanted to work with an idiot that can't keep her mouth shut (not sure why I went to see Hunger Games: Songbirds and Snakes, him and big mouth both were in that movie) so he must have had some ideas when a production is shit when compared to everything else that he worked on. The ability to turn work down versus destroying it.
I still like him and I dont give a fck about snow white. He said something he thought was right so what ? Do I agree with it ? No but I respect that he voiced his opinion. People act so high and mighty behind their monitors thinking they would be the perfect celebrety who wont even fart wrong during interviews and podcasts.
What is he talking about??? D and D gave us season 7 and 8 dialog lol RR Martine gave us the good dialog. Also he's got all the good small people roles because he ran the rest of the competition out of the game.
As much as I like Dinklage, and agree with what he said about the hipocrisy of Hollywood, this is the same guy who has stories about him *apparently* using his now relatively priviliged position to basically keep other actors with dwarfism out of the industry as much as he can. Obviously, this is all rumblings and nobody, to my knowledge, has any actual hard evidence so I'll leave it at that. But where there's smoke, there's fire. Just saying.
I mean he living up to that old saying big things come in small packages because both Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds damn near died towards the end of the hot sauce challenge and he just talking like it ain't nothing sure he sound like he's high but a lot of what times will you eat something really hot it has the same effect of an edible because I remember eating one of those Reaper chips they came in a box that look like a coffin and it made me had the same feeling like I ate an edible after you know the hot part got passed you know when the burning sensation in your mouth goes away any stars the burning your stomach and then after that goes away you feel the same effect as a edible for those who ain't ate one before you feel it course and through your veins make you kind of feel at peace💯😅😅😅
When he said he "fell like he just ate twins. Like me an Josh in the movie." is he saying "like he and Josh are twins" or "He and Josh both eat twins"?
Actually I’ve had quite a few of their hot sauces and I havnt had a bad one from them. Also the los calientes set are very flavorful. They are some of my favorites.
Peter Dinklage should go back to doing ALESTORM videos. "FANNYBAWS! HE'S A FEARSOME PIRATE!" He'll never be good enough to perform with the Dwarf band Wind Rose.
It's always strange to me when people use David and Goliath as a metaphor for an underdog story. I mean yes Goliath was a gigantic gigachad warrior and David was a shepherd, but David had grace from God. He literally says when they go to him that thanks to his faith he has strangled bears with his shepherd stick. Idk man, sounds to me like Goliath was the underdog :D
I love extended verlan: Peter Dinklage... is Deter Pinklage. Verlan is "in reverse" (a l'envers). Extended verlan is having fun wth the start of names and swapping 'em. Peter Dinklage... is Deter Pinklage. Funniest names ever whenever you try it
god i would agree 1000% any other time........ but alas....... i have tried the hot ones sauces.......... they're great... 😮💨😮💨😮💨 i mean like really good..
He didn't really say much of anything that comes off as a hot take in this except for directors with only one or two movies directing actors who have done 100. I expected more from the way you described this. Pretty tame overall
