Alan Smith and Jim Beglin are not full match commentators, they're co-commentators so are not even in the conversation of actual match commentators. And you are obviously a kid because last generation's commentators were much better than try-hards like Drury and most of the other guff which is around today..

If it was so easy you should try and watch a football match and commentate on it, record it and listen back to it, chances are it wouldn’t be very good.

@@muhammadlee- There are better commentators. I'm just not a fan of Drury, I don't like his voice and I think he tries too hard to sound epic and poetic, I'm just not a fan. I'm not saying football commentary is easy. But come on, there must be singers or actors you don't like, it doesn't mean you have to be a better singer or actor than them to have an opinion about them, or to not be a fan of what they do. We all have our preferences. I just don't see the hype about Drury, personally. I have nothing personal against him, I'm sure he's a good human being, etc, he's just not my favourite commentator.

Yes you do see it with other commentators actually, stop talking rubbish. Did you even hear Darren Fletcher's commentary for the Liverpool UCL semi final comeback against Barcelona in 2019??? "Corner taken quickly....ORIGI!!!!" And then shortly afterwards Fletcher also covered Spurs' comeback against Ajax in the other semi final. Do not tell me other commentators do not get excited witnessing crazy comebacks, because it simply isn't true.

First time I ever heard his commentary was in 2010 while watching Chelsea’s 8-0 thrashing of Wigan to win the premier league. After that I spent days trying to find out who he was cuz he had such a poetic way of speaking. Best play by play commentator of all time, bar none
