CHOICES: After I returned to the U.S. after a year studying in Italy I went into a local supermarket and was overwhelmed by the ridiculous level of consumer options. The idea that more is always better drives much of our mindless consumerism and the delusion that we are somehow living a full life. (An example: How many kinds of breakfast cereal do we actually need?) This could be why people who are really intellectually advanced will leave all of the insanity behind and take up meditation practices and will spend time in isolated retreats to get back to what is ultimately important.
We always know something about Architecture by the media, the parametric theme is like the cloned sheep, which clones something, life makes its way without cloning, that happens with the media are a breeding ground for cheap cloning , in all senses, music, fashion forms recipes etc. That is why architecture should be more unique than cloned diversity, there are more and more young architects who do not understand this, they are only part of the philosophy, copy and paste, we see more but we do less architecture, from the client to the architects themselves , the architecture must be like a grain of rice, the architect must know how to choose the seed, the field and till the land to harvest, then if he can know what kind of rice he harvests, today the parametric world is like the world of beer Suddenly everyone wants to make craft beer, the customer and architect relationship is becoming more difficult, many clients believe that by seeing an image on an instagram or touring the world they know architecture more than the architect, the message that Peter Eisenman leaves is clear we need to know more the classical phenomenology to be able to Deconstruct the world and that what is built has the value of being called Architecture. As Wright said, not everything built is architecture.
Sólo es un discurso para escudarse de la gran ola que lo ha rebasado. Por un lado, la arquitectura paramétrica no se puede poner en una sola bolsa al menos que esa bolsa pueda encapsular toda la arquitectura que se ha construido. Los parámetros y su proceso lógico/matemático han sido agentes transformadores del objeto arquitectónico a través del proceso de diseño desde hace miles de años. Lo que pasa es que antes dichos procesos estaban limitados por el tiempo que tomaba hacerlos a mano, un menor conocimiento científico, y una menor cantidad de información útil acerca de, por ejemplo, la mecánica de los materiales, el clima, la acústica, la luz, etc.. Hoy las computadoras nos permiten conjugar toda esa información en muchísimo menor tiempo. Mucho ha cambiado pero el objetivo general de la Arquitectura no ha cambiado mucho: domesticar el pedazo de Tierra en el que vivimos y de la que somos parte.
La mayoría de diseños paramétricos son frívolos, porque son hechos en computadora y no les importa el contexto ni el respeto al lugar. UNA COMPUTADORA NUNCA VA TENER LA SENSIBILIDAD DE UN SER HUMANO.
@@LuisFelipe-dz9uq Creo que hay una mala concepción sobre la arquitectura paramétrica de tu parte. Las computadoras sólo nos ayudan a calcular la definición del proyecto dados los parámetros que el ser humano inyecta. La sensibilidad humana no debe quedar afuera en la proyección arquitectónica, o al menos no por ahora.
@@jorgefarill3891 Sabías que hay arquitectos que están en contra del deconstructivismo que tanto defiende Peter Einseman. Muchos creen que lo que hace no es arquitectura. Pero el defendió su postura, él argumenta que su estilo se respalda en la filosofía de Derrida y Nietzche y por eso se alejó del estilo moderno, igual yo, mantengo mi posición: LA COMPUTADORA ESTÁ ANULANDO LA SENSIBILIDAD EN LA MAYORÍA DE DISEÑADORES, PORQUE TE ACOSTUMBRAS A QUE TODO LO HAGA LA MÁQUINA, MILES DE APLICACIONES EN TU MÓVIL Mi opinión va con mi forma de vida, al aire libre, en la playa, en la naturaleza, en restaurantes, viajando por ciudades, balnearios, conversando con la gente, leyendo libros, pero no me alejo de la era digital, sé usar Cad, Revit, Photoshop. Tomo una postura crítica porque es lo que todo diseñador debe hacer. Seguro tu tendrás otra forma de ver la arquitectura según como has vivido.
una pregunta que le hubieran hecho, es si es más factible hacer una arquitectura que hable de la arquitectura en general o hacer una arquitectura que hable de lo que la sociedad se siente identificada aún más, es decir representación de lugar por ejm, ya que sabemos que no todos los ciudadanos les interesa la arquitectura en sí, sino lo que ofrece esta, por lo que entendí en su primera respuesta con respecto a lo paramétrico es, el porqué hacer varias opciones de forma para una sola función, si existe solo una forma la cual se pueda hacer, lo que no se da cuenta es que las personas en general como si fuera algo instintivo prefieren abastecerse de diversas cosas, mientras más tenemos es mejo, porque es antónimo de lo conformista que dictamina la sociedad como un punto negativo dentro de las personas, por ende yo creo que por un lado está bien la diversidad que nos brinda lo paramétrico, pero por otro lado también tenemos en el pensamiento de jerarquía, y con lo paramétrico no podemos llegar a ver un punto jerarquizado ya que todas las opciones son buenas desde el punto de vista de la forma, DE ANTEMANO ESTO CORRESPONDE ALA PRIMERA PREGUNTA QUE LE HICIERON Y QUISIERA RESPUESTAS, ALGO DIFICIL PERO OJALÁ AYA ALGUIEN QUE COMENTE SOBRE ESTO

This is such a stupid conversation. The digital world did not create the problem of choice just because you can now see the 50.000 options in your screen, and before all the options were just ideas in your head. Architecture is all about the relevance of the choices you've made in the project and how humans will interact with those choices. In that case you could argue that an architect has no interest in the parametric, because his only choice should be the best and final one, and there is no need to represent 50.000, still parametricism is a good tool to grasp the real word dynamics of the project process
+Carlos -- aside from the issue of choices, there is inherent in the use of digital tools the impression that they will inevitably lead to the creation of good design. I've seen several movies about this digital-intensive training in architecture schools. The student work that results from this approach often lacks the aesthetic finesse that one would expect from great architecture AND the human dimension of direct sensorial experiences. These young souls put so much faith in the digital revolution and get lost in the maze of technology with all of its expanded possibilities. In some ways I find Eisenman contradictory, especially when dealing with his built projects based on his strict mathematical matrices (e.g. The Aronoff Center at the University of Cincinnati).
