his jazz drumming is really good, but this is not samba actually... I'ts some kind of jazzy bossa nova... Really good indeed... but it's not samba..

im brazilian musician, drummer and this is not samba. if you want to hear samba, listen to a drummer named Paulo Braga, or Kiko Freitas, or Rafael Barata. sorry for my english.

It sounds like that because of the quality of the video not because of the way he tunes it.

and I like the floor tom: too, boom boo boom - pa doo gumm boo boom... :) this is the real samba groove, a basic one, old school example how to play before you start to think of different ways of playing something based on samba. Peter the great!
