Peter Erskine and the Dr.Um Band Live at C.U.BO, Bologna (Italy), July 25, 2017 Peter Erskine: drums Bob Sheppard: sax John Beasley: piano, keyboards Benjamin Shepherd: bass
Most solos lull me into super- boredom. I guess because I've been playing and watching for several decades. Peter's solos are a cut above a lot of others. Always have musical context and makes the song better. I might be the only drummer,a working one no less that generally doesn't enjoy solos. I only wanna do them when it feels right and improves things. Bill Stewart, Jeff Hamilton,Hoenig,Blade are great soloists too.
Great variation on 'Northern Cross' first recorded with Steps Ahead in early 1980s! I heard this live at LACMA a couple years ago, the song has progressed into a form I never would have thought possible, the genius of Peter Erskine!
Вот смотрю,с возрастом ноги уже не так работают,а РУКИ-Золотые!Браво! Here I look, with age, the legs no longer work like that, and the HANDS are GOLDEN!Bravo!
Have always had a special place in my heart for Peter and his skills. He's incredible. My dad (Johnny Civera) was a professional drummer, and was Peter's first teacher way back when Peter was only four or five. He had the chops even then. Amazing. Peter makes his drums sing.
I love those Elvin Jones quotes at 2:00. Also people who complain about this solo are the people who cant find the 1,if you know what i mean. Peter Erskine is going thru the musical/drumming history in this solo, and some youtuber knows better, lol.
Awesome solo but I have to point out something that bugs me, the placement/height of the kick drum beater. It looks like it's almost at the top, which kills a lot of the tone!
Peter's great..this little drum break was OK..1:07 trying to figure out what is so funny..The groove coming back in at 2:35 sounds great. He should've soloed around that groove instead of playing something totally different and less energetic...Peter should slim down a little.. You don't see many older heavyset men around. The heart goes...
you need to say this to PE in person...go ahead...he won't hit you...but I encourage you to tell him to his face what you think about him...and get back to us on that please
