When this came out, was finishing college…..best time of my youth!! Maybe my two young grandsons will love it one day as much as I do….maybe even feel like I do….
1976, I'm 17 years old. In my bedroom (after smoking a joint outside.) Throw on the Framton Comes Alive LP. I'm playing Blackie plugged into a stack of Marshals (in reality, it was my hockey stick.) I crank it up, LOUD! Dad comes home from work... He passes by my bedroom on the way to his. He stops and beats on the door yelling... TURN IT DOWN! I pay no attention because I'm in the middle of a solo! I'll never forget my teenage years in the 1970s.
Every time I watch a video of him he just looks happy to be playing his songs for us. My husband said he went to this tour,, said he was there to “ get some trim “, but he forgot about it because he was so. Good. “Whose wine? What wine ? Where the hell did we dine? Must’ve been a dream, I don’t believe where I am. Come on, let’s do it again! Yea!!
To think that Peter Frampton is NOT in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is worse than a crime. I personally called Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and voted for Peter as he is on his last "Farewell Tour" that will end next week, Saturday, October 12 in Concord Pavillion, Concord CA.. He has been rockin it for five decades plus! (since 1966) Peter Frampton is a Rock & Roll Legend.
Dark side of the moon and the true fact is that I guess the dark to me is night the moon looks to be lighted by the sun it is blocking the sun now the led change and the super nova is either the moon coming to look for one in the cement of a change from the ballast to led but it may have both and the real truth is that I am sure of this we cannot keep being the things that we think we are
I was at Plattsburgh state for the concert I was 13 it was great it was in the 70s but I still remember the time Peter was singing do you feel like we do a bee was buzzing around his head he was dodging the bee and trying to sing at the same time.
Not only that. This concert was probably $10.00 Our music now is now reserved for the entitled. One more observation... A lot of concerts these days, especially those with our favorites, are refined and perfected products. Concerts of ole were pragmatic, off the cuff... Let's try this... Peter Frampton trying to get crowd reaction... Lynyrd Skynyrd guitar marathon with three guys that are having a frigging BLAST! Alto Reed finding new ways to be suggestive with a saxophone... Now its... Here we are playing our song... You are welcome... That will be $500.00 please...
This guitr solo is one of the best ever. It's up there with Page's "Stairway" solo and Nugent's "Stranglehold" solo. Frampton plays it in mixolydian and he incorporates the minor 3rd beautifully.
if anyone can find a better feel good album than frampton comes alive id love to hear it fat chance.ive listened to this album for over 35 years and it still inspires me :)
Wham with George Michael blows Peter Frampton away when it comes to feel good albums. Ever heard the song "wake me up before you go go"? Just shittin' ya
I love this song. Does anyone remember the house parties Back in the 70's ! Oh how I truly do miss those good old days. No one stoled nothing . No one at the party that you did not trust. If someone drank to much they just slept over. No Drama back in the 70's. Every one just had a great time. You could actually go for a joy ride and you didn't have to worry about road rage. OH HOW I miss those good old days.
I was there at Plattsburgh state I was there for my 13 birthday I don't remember much but what I do was awesome I remember a bee was buzzing around his head while singing do you feel like we do.
Music today isn't the same. This music takes me back to "my day". Life was basically good. Before worldwide Pandemic etc. But I remind myself that the ONLY real constant in this world is definitely CHANGE and if you are blessed, lucky, and aware you will also experience LOVE. Happy Father's Day people. May God Bless you and yours, and I pray that collectively we all focus on the good in today's world. Good outweighs Bad no matter what! 🤩💋😍

@@JackDionne this song & maybe 2 another from his debut album is rock love but his sophmore LP was ok and not met with the same enthusiasm as his first. And, i too totally thought he was all that & more in '75-76... He played breifly for Humble Pie, but im not feeling Rock God Hall of Fame. not sure hes prolific enough for the Hall of Fame, up against the Big Boys ?? Certainly ,though, a couple great songs that will be remembered all our lives!! ~¤~ And, Peter is worth the great memories of those couple years in the mid 70s as a wild child !!! ♡
land otter1 , You got that right, for some it's all about the dollar, not for Peter....like Angus and Malcolm Young of AC/DC, he and they play because it gives them satisfaction, and enjoyment....the money is only part of it.
So very true. I remember my best friend giving me the "Frampton Comes Alive" album for my birthday in 8th grade. I wore that album out. I love every song and I couldn't understand why he didn't get the respect from the rock-n-roll community he deserved. I really didn't care, in my book, he was awesome and at 59 I still love listening to his music! So grateful I grew up during the 70's where the music giants rose and gave us some incredible music. Gone are those days! Thank God for mediums like RU-vid where these classic videos were captured (or edited to make seem real). Doesn't matter to me, they did a great job on this one and there are so many. I have created a huge 70's and 80's classics playlist! What an era it was and I am so glad I was smack dab in the middle of it all!
Whoever didn't grow up in the 70's with this awesome musician and many other greats I feel sorry for. You can call me old (60 and still rocking!) and that's Ok but you can't call me stupid---I know music from the 70's was by far the best! And who says all of us girls aren't still hot!!!!????
I feel you Janet. In the 70's, me and my transistor AM was always rocking to CKLW. BTO, Neil Young, The Sweet, Head East, 10 CC, Cooper, KISS, Framp, BOC to REO. It never gets old.
SLEEP NO MORE, You hit the nail right square in the head!!! The 70's will forevermore to me be warm summer nights, awesome cars, and the best music, hands-down, ever.
Ahhh yes the 70 s. As far as I’m concerned that was the best era for music. Even Mo Town. Country. Etc was the time of great music 🎼. This album put Peter on the huge run of success. Every one I knew had this record. There where Sooo many Great bands in that era. Miss those days. No bubble gum music for this old Rocker.
The most important song of the 20th century. It was the demarcation point between the sadness of Vietnam, and the beginning of the new age.. Framptom's message? "Time for joy, folks!" Thanks, Framptom.
My god! The early 70ties were the best time for my. No problems, good music, good friends and nice girls and some good pot. I am now 62 but I still live as I was not become older. Greetings from Linz- Austria/Europe
Austria has the best 🍺, Wein is a pretty interesting city, Steigl? and Tucher? sorry 'bout the spelling, is slowly being brought to the U. S. really good stuff!cheers.
Thank‘s madam! 1984 I hitch hiked across the USA and I had a great time there. People were so friendly and hospitality to me. Incredible! What a good time I will never forget!
That guitar is called Blackie. Unique because it's a Les Paul with 3 humbucker pickups instead of the usual two. It went down in a plane crash with the rest of the bands gear on the way to South America ahead of the band. Like most crash sites they are raided almost instantly for luggage and the stripping of what ever plane parts you can get a hold of before help arrives. It was found out that somebody bought the guitar down in South America. But 30 years later it shows up and Peter confirms that it's Blackie and he has it back! What goes around comes around.
That's crazy but you know, I can see that happening to Peter. He plays like a master of Les Paul's and 3 hums.....His voice is unique and he was my older sister's crush along with so many teenagers and young women who enjoyed seeing him in those pink pants. It would be an honor to meet him, play some music/jam with him. I'm sure that would be in my dreams but it's something I would jump at if given the opportunity. He enjoys being so connected, everyone in the band has great talent and Peter would make sure you really got to see him and his bandmates sound incredible night after night. This song is, and will always be, one of the best songs played live. Maybe I'll see him at Guitar Center someday.......no, never happen, but keep on playing Peter, you are one hell of a Guitarist and singer that brought his positive energy on this night, this song, the audience who I'm sure were captivated, really digging the song, many for the first time were able to hear a good song in the studio become one of the greatist live song ever recorded.
Life In the 70’s truley was the best of rock and roll! Peter new exactly how to keep everyone smiling!!! So sad that music today really has no true point. How can you not love rock and roll? Seriously.
This was all I listened to when I was 16 in 1976...this along with Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, the Elton John Classic album...smoked a lot of Shermans too!
I'd love to return to 1976. I was a 21 yr old United States Marine stationed at Camp LeJeune NC. I wore this album (cassette) out, played it LOUD, in our Open Squad Bay. Loved Elton John music too. I go back to the 70s and stay. Heck, I'd even repeat my 4 yrs (1973-1977) in the United States Marine Corps. Greetings from Charleston, West Virginia USA ✌🇺🇸
Hey Bess, I was 16 in 1976! My brother had this album. I was into Zeppelin, Grand Funk Railroad, and Elton John. Some KISS. In fact KISS came to Fresno .CA the first time the day after Elvis died. August 17th was my 17th birthday. My first high school girlfriend was into Elton John and the Beach Boys.
Ok Peeps ,I partied HARD in 1976,when this came out I was 13 !!! Omg I am 56 now, I am surprised that I have survived!!! CLASSIC ROCKIN PARTY SONG,Who remembers 👂 that first bass note hitting and the speakers 🔊 sucking air in and out, Windows RATTLING AND SOMEONE FIRES UP UP A BIG FAT DOOB? I always loved zig- zag and EZ Wider strawberry rolling papers, I have good memories though and I travel back to 76 and walk down memory lane again 😁💯👍✌♥️😊
I was 13 also, living in Annapolis Md. I remember me and my two 13 year old friends with cases of beer courtesy of an older brother, out on the Chesapeake, driving one of the ski boats our families had (we were allowed out in the Bay solo), getting drunk as hell while fishing for bluefish and listening to Frampton Comes Alive over and over. We'd stay out long enough to more or less sober up before we got home, parents never had any idea. Although the Marine Patrol knew us by first name, there was that time they caught us climbing up one of the lighthouses and diving the 50 feet down to the water, then there were all those times we used our single skis when water skiing to completely soak everyone on board some motor-sailer or other. Yeah, the '70s were a fun, fun time.
I didn't start smoking weed until I was 16. When I was13, I "appropriated"the vinyl LP from my mom and played it loud every afternoon when I got home from school. (5th grade @ "mustang elementary school" in Tampa). I can't remember what brand of stereo my parents had, but I think it was a Panasonic or other "high-end" brand cause my Father was an audiophile and had a good job
I love you Kid!!!..you will never be forgotten...powerful voice and incredible hands!!!...We''ll never see another Peter Frampton again......Thanks God at least some of us had the chance... Thank you for reading...
@@stanchudzinski2222 still have tuner, preamp, cd player, top load cassette player, 4 8ohm tower speakers, and turntable.. Planning on a reel to reel...
A true Virtuoso...I remember hearing this when I was around 12 and loved Frampton ever since !Great player and made the "talkbox" sound like no other ....Cheers
When I was a kid, (in the '70s) my mom had the vinyl version of this album and as a budding guitar player, I wore it out.It took me 20+ years 2 learn this song well enough to play all the way through with no mistakes.I was so happy that day! I also love "doobie wah" and "show me the way".
A million thanks to my late aunt Lucy who gave me this double album when I was 11 and each record was gold sparkle coloured 🌹 11 years older but more like that cool older sister who kept you in line yet encouraged you to find your own coolness. Mine was learning on my dad’s guitar and hitting the road with bands at 17 in 1986. And this song is true! 😂 do you feel like we do? We in quarantine or global lockdown... I guess so
When he starts to go into that long instrument section around the 5 minute mark, I feel the urge to light up a joint. Mind you, I haven't smoked pot for a zillion years but this music still makes me feel like a teenager at his concert. Isn't that weird how music does that?
Great idea. I better pack a bowl. Much better quality weed now than in 1975 the first time I saw him live. I just saw him a few years ago with Steve Miller (many times in between). Always a thick cloud during this song :) PPP Party on
The fucking bass line during the slow/quiet breakdown (D-F-C-D...walk back up to D and repeat) is fantastic...so simple, yet the more he plays it, the cooler it sounds. I remember having 10" woofers in my car in college (late 80s), and when that song came on, my entire car vibrated with the D-F-C-D notes, over and over again. My roommate at the time was listening to crap like Paula Abdul and that shitty, empty dance music at that time. He never understood what it was like to hear and feel rock the way it was meant to be heard. Not surprisingly, I didn't keep in touch with him after college.
I remember when this album came out.Double album and my family had a party to celebrate and the album was on display. These were the days.No cares no worries..just love and peace.I miss those days so much. What happened to our world? There was good times and every was happy...now we live in corruption and deciept.I would do anything to go back in time.
@@nancylaster7191 This is true but a redhead also knows when to stop partying and be responsible..Thats only if partying hasn't got them too hung over....lol
This was the first album I bought with my own money I save up from mowing lawns. I biked 4 miles into town to get the album and played it non stop. I always think of flying to the music store as fast as I could pedal still full of grass clippings on me as I got that last $5 bill I needed.
I had to work with my dad sweeping up jobsite 1 day =double album and lunch short list Frampton comes alive double live gonzo Physical graffiti Wings over America (triple) our secret one more from/for the road music was always the best investment buy it- listen ,& read cover and liner notes 100x I remember buying Steely Dan Aja & Foghat live paying with a 10$ bill and getting change for a coke out of the machine @ Two Guys Lawnside NJ
@@stanchudzinski2222 Can totally, totally relate. Had all those same albums and read all the liner notes over and over. Had a buddy with an older brother with a Marantz stereo that would kick you lungs in when he'd turn it up. I'm surprised I don't have hearing loss. When Kiss Alive came out and we put it on the turntable it felt like we were there with that crowd. Great memories.
@@curtbradley3384 I like the live version of that song much better than the original. In fact I pretty much have to listen to the whole Wings Over America album each time I want to hear one song as the album is that good.
Saw Frampton in '77 Anaheim stadium just like this show. They Brought the place down. Nothin' kan ever top this in my life. Thanx! Peter, Bob✝️, John✝️, Stanley for this Awesome concert. Consumate Professionals
Little bit of trivia for the die hard Frampton's. In 1980 while on tour in South Africa a cargo plane carrying all of Frampton's stage gear (including the custom Les Paul he is playing) crashed after take off destroying everything on board. Thirty years later a man approached him saying he had his custom Les Paul that was in the crash. Peter thought it was a scammer trying to make a buck, but when the guy showed it to him Peter became emotional and tears welled in his eyes. It was the only thing that survived the crash... just like King Arthur's sword, it was sticking out of the burn't wreckage unscathed... I kid you not!
honestly, if you dont feel like we do listening to this, seek help, change your life. find something that makes you happy and when you do, you will flashback to all the greatest moments when you hear this song.
I'll never forget listening to ALL OF THE GREATS on Midnight Special! One night I was sitting on the floor in front of the boob-tube, listening to the music, when this guy opened up the front door and just walked right into our house. I just looked at him and said, "can I help you?". Turned out he was drunk off his ass and thought he was at his own house. My dad just got dressed and took him home. No cops! No violence! Just one neighbor looking out for another. Those were the good days...
This my children is what real music sounds like before everything became a backing track, auto-tune, pitch correction and general stupidity. That is a sweet sounding Les Paul, the tone is amazing.
Like many of you, I feel blessed to have grown up as a teenager in the 70's. I still wonder at the variety and quality of the music.. Was there some magic afier the 60's that produced such a display of talent? I wish someone could explain it in detail for future musicians to feast on.
I remember my dad was so damn exited to play this live album to me when I was a young kid, his enthusiasm was amazing. I knew I always have real music running through my veins and always would.
Okay... I remember seeing him in concert with yes a toke in my hand and friends side by side...geez I am so glad I grew up in the 70's..God look after those who grow up in the computer age!!!!!
I saw Frampton in concert so many times because he was everywhere and because I loved his music. Three Rivers Stadium in 1976 with Dream Weaver and the Beach Boys. OMG what a concert on a beautiful sunny day in the 70's with no restrictions from policeman. We basically did whatever we wanted to until someone had a bad trip just like Woodstock. It was incredible. It was better then incredible. We had so much fun!!! When I am dying, I hope this concert flashes before my eyes super slowly. Love y ou Frampton.
Saw this tour, with my brother, in Honolulu, Hawaii - Blaisdell Arena, April 1976. I recall Frampton opened, stating they were going to re-create the live album, and sure did! It was incredible. Summer 1999, saw him again at Sandpoint Festival in North Idaho, this time with my wife and teenage children. Even better that time. Musicians who can actually write, play, sing, and deliver an emotional performance... that never gets old.
I saw a lot of concerts at HIC, 60's and 70s. Great times- $2.50 tickets. Moody Blues, Jethro Tull, The Doors, CCR, B.S.&T., James Taylor, Zappa, Stones, Steely Dan. Wow!
Me! Saw him live at the Melbourne Myer Music Bowl and he delivered what EVERYONE wanted...Fampton Comes Alive!!! One of my first record purchases. Great stuff.
I wore out 3 casettes and 2 vinyls with this album in the 70s ! WHOA !! and here I am in 2019 FULL BLAST Saturday morning Goosebumps, Headrush and Friday hangover to Boot ! WAY TO GO, MUSIC IS LIFE AND THE 70'S IS THEE BEST ! Yeah, we feel like you do Y'all !!
1976 ? Tulsa Oklahoma, outdoor concert was hot as hell. Frampton killed it! A guy walked up beside us, staggered and fell face first on a styrofoam ice chest. He stood up , bleeding and said " I'm not hurt, just fuuuuucked up". LOL, I will never forget the ride down highway 66
Saw him a few years back touring with Steve Miller. I swear they both still sound like they do on record. For a small venue in Fort Myers, FL. they rocked their ass's off!
Even though I'm an old man. But back in the day when music, concerts meant something. You were there to actually see a show. Rock on Mr. Frampton🥁🍻🥁🎶🎼🎵🤘🤙👍
well theres 5 million plus views on this so..i think its safe to say that this is probably the greatest live recording/concert performance of a large venue gig of all time. His enthusiasm and sheer joy to perform and share is really unmatched, there's no line between the music the musician and the audience he wants to bring in to how he wants us all to feel.A true gift from a true genius,And he is still trying.
My grandparents were lucky to be at that concert before my mom was born Only one person in the whole stadium with a cell phone and that was the one making a video of this concert I can't wait till someone invents a time machine
Good ol days....never fails to make me wish times were the same, musically speaking. Makes me wonder, where are the young Peter Framptons of this generation?
+boramfan87 totally agree. I tell my young daughters when I listen to this track in the car, listen up girls, this music, they don't make any more. It's one of a kind. There is no more where this came from.
+boramfan87 I totally agree! I was at Colt Park in Hartford CT during this tour. It was either summer of 75 or 76? Great concert! I remember like it was just yesterday. And Gary Wright was the opening act. Good times live on through RU-vid! Thx for posting this!!!
+roquefortfiles You got that right! It actually makes me very sad to know that it will not ever repeat itself. That era was golden! Only the memories we have. Today, the kids have no idea. No music shows on TV either, probably because there is no one good to have on it anyways. Best of the midnight special comes to mind. That show and Don Kirshner ruled back in the 70's. Cheers from Canada.
He was still, and still is so "Humble", and at this time and it didn't even seem like he knew, and I'm sure he didn't based on the mediocre sales of his early solo albums, that he was creating rock history here. How quaint... God bless him!
Sure miss the good old days! All of the groups from our days ( I am 68yrs. old ) are still the BEST! This is really music. This rap stuff, most of it with all of the filthy language, is garbage, not what I consider music like we had.
