With health issues slowing him down battling a crippling disease called inclusion body myositis. Peter Frampton still tours. It always seems to get lost to some folks how great of a musician Peter Frampton was and how much he loved music. This video is a look back on his glory days alongside Steve Marriott in Humble Pie and then his life after the Comes Alive album. I try to bring some light on just how great of a guitarist Peter was and also talk about his recent health issues that are really taking their toll on his playing ability..
#peterframpton #humblepie #documentary
Peter has 9 shows booked coming in September. Find out the dates and location on his Web Site www.frampton.com/

He said he just wants to be remembered as a musician and not a “pop star.” When I met him recently I told him he’d most definitely accomplished that and then some. I told him he was a musician’s musician. He paused, starred me right squarely in the eyes and said, “thank you, I really appreciate that.” It was from the heart. He was and is my number one guitar hero from 1976 until now. I cried all the way home that night. My hero was bigger than I ever imagined. I love the man and I really dig his music. God bless Peter Frampton!

Absolutely Great story! I've often wondered how far HUMBLE PIE would have gone if Peter never left? The PIE was and still is one of my all time favorite bands and when Clem Clemmons took his place they kept kicking out some of the best music ever to be called blue's rock and roll. Framton was great on his own but Peter Frampton, Steve Marriott,, Jerry Shirley and Greg Ridley live, I have to rate them almost if not as good as, MARK, DON, and MEL.

I was at peter Frampton concert in Washington DC sept 10 2024. This concert will goes as one of the best concert I attended. Peter guitar playing and vocal were beyond amazing. He is one of the most gifted guitar players around. If you never heard him alive you are missing a legendary musician who mastered rock, blues, jazz and even pop music. Every song he played in his concert were beyond my belief in enjoyment. God bless peter playing sitting down with his fabulous band will blow you away standing up❤

Welcome back RD! Always happy to see a new video from you. Frampton has been one of my favorite guitarists since the Comes Alive album came out. If you haven't seen the interview he did with Rick Beato, look it up on Rick's channel. Definitely worth a look. He tells the story of how his "Phoenix" guitar was returned to him in great detail. A great musician and a very humble, down to earth guy! Love ya RD! Keep 'em comin'!

I saw him at a Day on the Green in Oakland in 76 or 77. And me and a friend have seen him twice in the past year. He’s an amazing guitarist and still sounds great.

“I’m in You” was the album that sidetracked his career. They tried to Make him a teen idol And he lost his edge. Very underrated guitarist.

I still have my copy of the double live album FRAMPTON COMES ALIVE that I bought in the summer of 1977. And i also have a greatest hits package on cd , seen him live in Tulsa OK at cains ballroom in the early 80's ( 82 -83 ? ) he kicked ass one hell of a guitar player.

I agree, Peter was a victim of the success of Frampton Comes Alive. My favorite track was “do you feel like I do. The pacing, the cord progressions, and guitar solo. Magic!

Personally I believe Frampton Comes Alive launched him to Stardom. After he left Humble Pie, he was nothing but an opening act until that album hit the stores. His studio work pales in comparison to the versions on that album except the one song he recorded with Humble Pie. Shine On Humble Pie's Live at Fillmore East album is still one of the great Rock albums in history. I played, "I Don't Need No Doctor" constantly through the plandemic. Wish I could watch your video but having data issues, Doc. If I find a good wifi spot in the future I'll give a view. In the mean time accept my thumbs up as always.👍

Hey River Docs, great story! Peter and Steve were great in Humble Pie and I'm impressed with Bassist Greg Riddley. "Natural Born Boogie" is my favorite. but post Frampton, "30Days in the Hole" and "Black Coffee" with the Rasberries will be Humble Pie classics.

The great Mr. Frampton is a guitarist’s guitarist. People who really know music can see past his commercial success and pop star image and see the true substance of a master musician. He is Rock royalty and the real deal. In the photo with Mike Farner and the SG/Les Paul Custom it looks like he removed the middle pickup and took the covers off the other two. A lot of players find the middle pickup gets in the way of their picking hand and I suspect this could’ve been the case with Mark.

A looked over guitar player? George Harrison personally chose him to play lead on his album All Things Must Paas.

He did become quite arrogant during the high of Frampton comes alive. Roy Buchanan tells a story about Roy asked to open for him at this time and Peter said no.Then years later Peter asked if he could open for Roy and Roy refused him. I know Roy was quite a story teller so the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.
