I think the color would be a huge challenge to get accurate for that concert, lots of pretty multicolored lights, i'm sure he could get it done though.
At this point, the Holy Grail is the Star Club tapes. It shows the Beatles as they really were . A hardworking club band, playing to a drunken German crowd , and no screaming girls.
Not really, by this time Epstein had already knocked the true rough edges off. They aren't wearing leathers in this performance, they've moved on to vests and suits and clean appearance
Utilizing hundreds of hours of restored footage, Jackson is currently working on a film that depicts the Beatles finding a magical ring which they must destroy in order to save Middle Earth.
The Beatles were interested in making a Lord of The Ring Film in the 60s, as I recalled John wanted to be Gollum and Stanley Kubrick was involved at one point. Peter Jackson is making the what if a reality lol
The main MMT feature itself badly needs visual restoration, as nobody bothered to preserve the negatives after the devastating reviews back then. On the current DVD and BD release, the behind-the-scenes footage shot on Super8 looks better than the film itself.
It’s funny, when this was released it blew everyone away. Now the fans complain that the footage was too clean, are we ever satisfied. Anyway I thought Peter did an amazing job.
*EVERYBODY* complained upon release about Jackson filtering the visual part to death. What he did well was de-mixing the audio part and find a lot of footage of happier recording sessions than in Lindsay-Hoggs original version that was a real bummer. Jackson may be blind, but at least he has good ears.
@@tlatosmd I thought he did an amazing job. I only remember good things being said about the project, in fact the only rag that took a swipe was RS. RS loved the Beatles for years but after 2020 any artists that’s wasn’t black had to be replaced by obscure R&B music, go figure!🤪
@@kahnlives You obviously didn't pay attention to the comment sections of the "Get Back" trailers and teasers, both before and after its release. Peter Jackson's blatant overuse of de-graining/de-noising filters is notorious. He did the same on the most recent BD release of LOTR.
@@tlatosmd The RU-vid comment section is basically a haven for trolls. Not going to lie, I’ve done my share. Most of the feedback I saw was positive at the time. Of course today’s technology can and has gone too far, case in point music is now dead. But at least we had the genius of the lads from Liverpool, they can have Tay Tay and Ice Spice or whatever that thing is called.🫡🫠
Peter is brilliant, he should hook up magical mystery tour 👍🏻 exactly what he did with let it be, do for magical mystery tour. Or fix up their concerts maybe..or help. Anything Beatles would be awesome 👍🏻🎸
Magical Mystery was shot on regular film. It's already out on Blu-ray, and a deluxe edition "collectors' box". A little off topic but they could add the Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane and Hello Goodbye videos to the film, putting them in strategic spots. The album needs a deluxe treatment. They could put this revamped film in with it.

@@debjorgo Look at what everybody here in the comments is saying about the MMT telefilm being badly in need of fixing, or look up how it says on Wikipedia that no-one bothered to properly preserve original negatives, leading to the inferior visual quality we have even with the attempts at color correction made in 2012.
@@tlatosmd A quick scan, I only see three people commenting on the Magical Mystery Tour film. And Wiki says the film was brough up to 2012 technology standards. That's HD 1920 x 1080p. No. It's not 4K UHD, but it is still pretty good. I'm sorry, but I'm not upgrading anything I have on Blu-ray to 4K. Now a Deluxe Edition Magical Mystery Tour CD release with bonus material, I'm there. I love what they did with MMT, the song, for the Blue Album.
Wow, the Star Club music sounding good; that would be fantastic! Also, a state-of-the-art restoration of Anthology, and all of the concert films and TV appearances. Oh, and everything else too!!
If it's a live action film next that's not a documentary, I'd suspect it'll be a restored concert film, maybe with songs added in. The Shea Stadium show has never been released in full, so that could be a good candidate. The Star Club thing wouldn't be live action as he'd have to animate The Beatles due to there not being any footage. There is less than a minute of footage from another show from that era, but that's it. I'm sure that is something that Peter Jackson has on his to do list though.
There's a lot of photos from their Hamburg days at the Kaiserkeller, Top Ten, and the Star Club, and how much moving footage exists of their 22 August 1962 performance at the Cavern? It was four months prior to their final appearance at the Star Club.
Star Club needs to be next. They rock so hard on those tapes. It's a shame they didn't record some of those songs in the studio. Imagine Beatles For Sale with those rockers instead of the covers we got. All 4 Beatles are on fire, but Ringo is nuclear. No Ringo, no Beatles.
I truly believe it’s a great idea that once it’s the turn of “Help!” And “A Hard Day’s Night” deluxe box sets. They’ll release the movies in 4K with the new remixes! From there, there the star club has to come back as well! I’m happy we still get the remixes though and I kinda sorta think they Giles would want to remix all of remixed ones with Peter’s MAL technology. Maybe? I don’t know. I just want more Beatles forever lol
The biggest problem I see with this is they can’t wait years between projects because the biggest die-hard fans are getting older and will be dead before a lot of this comes out. The people that would enjoy it the most may not be around
That’s the fun part. It’s called ancestors. I’m in my college years and I’m the biggest Beatles fan ever. Bigger than my grandparents and one of them is actually older than a beetle.
In the 00s Paul McCartney was trying to change the copyright law as it expires after 50 years because the Beatles were still one of the biggest selling bands at that time. I read somewhere they sold more albums/ cds this century than last. Where we live you can’t go out on the weekend without seeing kids and teenagers wearing Beatle shirts
Funny, but I was a child of the 80s and the hugest beatles fan, still am. Every new generation discovers and cherishes the beatles. If this wasn't truly a thing, then every band that ever released an album prior to you being born would simply be unimportant and lost, clearly this is not the case.
@@jasonl1942 I think, what I was trying to say is the fans that lived through that time period have a different perspective on The Beatles and would be a different kind of experience.
The right answer is: a TRUE concert film, utilizing the available footage of them in concert- *Washington DC *1964 live footage including NME awards show *Shea Stadium *Budokan and Munich concerts...clean them up, use the AI magic to get clearer sound, and make a badass concert movie 😊 We have the technology...
@@EvonZundel The benefits of a colour version could be that it could bring the film closer to a younger audience. Unfortunately, at first glance, B & W looks like a film from grandmother's time.
AHDN was never intended to be in color. Also note that the lighting required for a b/w and a color shoot is entirely different, so the AI would have to do more than just colorize it. It would also have to change the lighting.
The Bournemouth Aug.63 tape (recorded by a employee at the Gaumont theatre ) kept in a biscuit tin for years brought at auction by apple in 1998. Its meant to sound great
i would love to see alternate camera angles of all the clips they made ...outakes of the clips must also be there -with raw unedited footage - surely...you would think so????
There's not that much material left. The post Abbey Road to March 1970 story has been underrepresented in documentaries. More footage of Apple back in 1968 would be interesting. Star Club would be tremendous, but that recording sounds like the tape recorder was in an adjacent building.
The Hey Jude argument between George and Paul is earlier than the "I'll play whatever you want me to play" disagreement of the Get Back sessions. In fact, during the latter, Paul refers back to the Hey Jude incident.
Many thanks for posting. I would love to have your views on introducing the Beatles through the film "Yellow Submarine" ie, to children and young people. Moreover, songs like "Here Comes The Sun", "My Sweet Lord", "We All Stand Together", "Yellow Submarine" & "Good Night", et al can make a huge difference in the long run. These raw ideas can be the top of the iceberg perhaps. Best wishes
I would disagree that demixing tech works best when using the original tapes. These tapes might be in a bad state. It's best to try and find the best tape or tape copy and if they cant be found the best digital copy..
I don’t know why no one‘s ever done this but how about just making a DVD of the music from each of the first five albums from the early live concerts of the Beatles? No commentary or other BS - just the music while there are still a few geezers who were teens in the 1960s who care about it ? Easy money.
Still waiting for the Dambuster remake. I was on holiday in the UK about 18 years ago walking around a dam when a Lancaster bomber flew overhead, later I was told they were taking practice shots for PJs new movie. Still waiting 😢
I'd imagine a Beatles live hologram show like Abba's in London. In short, the technology exists to create the holograms from real people but it doesn't yet exist to do it from film.....watch this space
I think Peter Jackson should be involved with movies being made by Sam Mendes as a consultant of some form and even coming in to help as an assistant Director. But that’s just a little wishful thinking. If there’s old tapes from rehearsals that Peter Jackson can polish and release as an album, it would be a dream come true.
not looking forward to the sam mendes movies, i dont like his work, and i think splitting the beatles into 4 instead of making one movie about the band is a big mistake
But, what makes you think he will make another movie about The Beatles? He already did "Get Back" and "Let It Be." In a few years the Biopics will be released, so I don't think it is "business" for him to release a film about The Beatles at the same time as the Biopics. MMT was released on Bluray, so.. which already has sufficient good quality. There is no film material about Star-Club. There are only the audios (which, by the way, would be interesting to hear restored and in the correct order and speed - although the raw audio gives it its own charm!) I think something very valuable to have in 4K could be the "Anthology" that is mentioned in the video. It has been many years since its original release. It deserves a remastering (and why not, with some extrass!). 🤤

My guess is that the project mentioned in 2022 was the Now and Then mini-documentary. I really highly doubt that Paul, Ringo, Yoko & Sean, and Olivia & Dhani would be in favor of an attempted AI video ;recreation' of a Star Club performance. Personally, I'd be very angry if that is the case. I have no problem using AI to de-mix music, whether it be from The Beatles or others, but I would 100% have a problem with something fake like a Star Club concert film, especially if it had to use AI-generated speech in between songs. On another note, an Anthology upgrade (both audio and video) would be nice; I do have the 2003 Anthology DVD box set, but I would definitely consider upgrading, at least partly depending on the price, if that was announced. Upgrading some BBC audio could be a good idea too; I also think that the remaining BBC material (Dream Baby from 1962, etc.) could/should be used as bonus tracks on a potential Star Club de-mix/remix and/or a potential expanded version of Please Please Me.
Visual Beatles AI deepfakery has already been done with the official blessing by EMI and Apple with the video to "Now and Then", by creating new shots of John and George dancing and wiggling around while dressed like in the "Hello Goodbye" clip. It's not done from scratch as how many people are paranoid nowadays when it comes to generative AI, it's more like motion capturing and post-pro filters applied to old or new footage. But I gotta say one thing, they did a botch job on the greenscreen editing for that video. The AI versions of John and George are edited amateurishly into the modern footage of Paul and Ringo by using cheap or free greenscreening filters.
A 3-part documentary on Beatlemania in 64. Enjoy Peter Jackson's storytelling/editing less keen the overuse of A.I. generated video Now and Then included.

I think there is more than enough info already released that it's enough. Stop pandering just for the money. This is now when people that never saw them or wasn't alive when they were a group will start making stuff up and start new conspiracy theories just for the money, If you lived through the complete period of the Beatles like I did and was a fan from the beginning, than your own memories of how you perceived everything that happened is what should be remembered.
