2.5% is fine if your just asking for dumb money, but if you want an active investor you need to make it worth their while. I’ve seen some entrepreneurs on Shark Tank ask for less than $100 for around 10% of their business because they want their expertise.

I work security on the main strip of my city and i get bombarded with people asking me where things are, best part is that it's mostly people who clearly live in the US. So I always ask for their phones and look it up on their maps, hand it back and send them on their way. International tourists hardly ever ask for directions, or only ask about general directions lol.

gunforhirenz I know right? I’m Australian and there are options for everywhere in the country. If you’re out in the bush you need specific satellite connections. If you’re actually where people live (within 50km of the coast) the connections are perfectly fine. What a numpty.

I feel like the signal strength is the least interesting part of the app. In the UK there's really not much difference between providers. Matching based on usage is more relevant.

He didn't need 5 million users to get the coverage data, he just needed users across the country covering a broader area, for that he didn't even need people to signup, just send out test devices and signal receptors (owned by network companies) to detect the average signal strength and base the overall signal strength on that. What's worse is that its not even the main selling point, main selling point is the comparisons of pricing and custom made network packages.

What's pretty stupid is that if this guy just sold it as an app that measures how much text/data you use and gives you plans according to that, would have been a better sell. Adding coverage to the equation was unnecessary. Also the valuation was too high.

As an Australian, I have to say his comments regarding poor reception in Australia are incorrect. What he will find is our 4G reception is better than a lot of wired home connections, to the point that a lot of people will use 4G rather than ADSL or Cable due to poor connection speeds. And in terms of an app to compare phone plans, we have multiple free websites which are independent and highly regarded, that do the exact same thing. So he would absolutely struggle down here. Definitely a day late and a dollar short. Or should I say £250,000 short? 😂

Why on earth the company didn't just create a tool to index all of the different network's coverage maps, regardless of his criticism that they are 'static', and incorporate it into his app is beyond me. Network's are bound to provide as accurate information as possible - OFCOM ensure that much. Even if he managed to get say a million people using the app and sharing their signal strength, the information would still be terribly diluted as an individual would only ever provide coverage information for a short period of time, relative to their own current network before they upgrade their phone and likely never use the app again and therefore never provide any further data.

Australia, real problem with signal strength out there. Oh really. Let me tell you something about Australia. I lived there for 10 years. A couple of those years was spent living "Out bush". 3500ft up a mountain in the rain forest in the middle of nowhere. I also spent time outside Broome who were still plumbing running water into residential properties. I NEVER had any signal issues. I am now back home in the UK. And if you are on O2 as many are you can be in the middle of a sodding greater metropolitan area and have NO signal!

Do you think so? Wouldn't you welcome an app that could show you whether there are alternative mobile networks with better signal strength etc ... or/and better offers of mobile contracts than what you have currently?! I think the basic idea is not bad at all! But he didn't get it right in the past 2 years (burned way to much money for this) - and he ruined it right here in the Den with a ridiculous valuation.

@@cashnelson2306 Mobile network provider and their networks change regularly (yearly basis). You probably would check sometime again, and maybe switch?! About being profitable ..well as I said, he already spend way to much money for this. But if you would start that from zero such an app could generate some money (If widely used though). But of course it's not enough to attract an investor.

It would have been good back in the day, but now 90% of the mobile companies offer unlimited mins and text and data for a small price his business will end horribly
