Mr. & Mrs. Stokkebroe you are creating the most beautiful legacy by passing on the art of dance to your most precious angel. I love my art from the heart, and that is all I can see here.
So that the debate about their Hip Motion or Action is left, really, in the eye of the beholder and interpreter. Some Coaches emphasize hips above all else, emphasize thrusting, etc, while others travel down the path of not so much a lack of it but a softening... I will say that technique wise, Peter and Kristina are among, if not THE, best. Their style was advanced a few years ago, "ahead of its time" (if such a phrase can be allowed) but now it fits well with all of the changes that occurred
It has been my experience that while the"Hip Motion" is at the basis of a "Latin" dance, the importance of its power and its, shall we say, "seeingability," is often determined by the time. For instance, take a look at the history of the Samba and you'll see that at one point it was all about the Bounce and Staccatto actions (almost jerky, if you will). In later years the style changed to a softer, more eloquent (shall we say) type... with it going back and forth every few years ever since.
they have nearly perfect technique and they dance what i would like to call ''true ballroom'' but i miss wild latin, kind of animalistic side of latin... as Bryan would say ''getting down and dirty with your partner'' XD
wait, what?! perhaps you missed them playing with the timing, their creative choreography, the musicality, how she's playing with his suspenders and shirt. I think you have no idea what you're talking about.
uummm, to get a little deeper, hip action is not just produced with flexing of the knees, it is also produced with respect to body types. Therefore, all dancers may have similar OR very different hip actions (such as MELIA)......HENCE, when talking about professionals, there's really no point in arguing about personal style. I think they've been doing it long enough.
I really like Christina; I think her dancing is much more softer, classy and elegant than other other female. (This is besides the fact that she ripped off her dress here) They both just seem a little cold sometimes in their facial expressions...
