RIP Peter Finch (September 28, 1916 - January 14, 1977), aged 60 And RIP Peter O'Toole (August 2, 1932 - December 14, 2013), aged 81 You both will be remembered as legends.
"We were on the wrong grave 🪦" ...Those guys made boozing as though they were drinking lemonade. What wonderful Peter O'Toole was. Indeed he's humor is sorely missed.
I first met Peter in 1988 and, over the next 25yrs, got to know him rather well. You'd be forgiven for thinking that conversations like this took place on a regular basis. But they did not. In fact, contrary to popular belief, Peter, although he did drink to excess at times, especially in the early years, was very rarely the mess he purported to be. He was a quiet, extremely organised man, who was at his happiest having a raucous night... pretending to be incapably drunk, when in fact, he'd switched to softer drinks hours before. That's not to say these anecdotal events never took place, because they did. It's just they took place with slightly less alcohol on Peter's side than he had people believe. Even those he was with at the time. To say Peter was a was warm, genuine and unbelievably thoughtful man, is to woefully underestimate him. He was truly one of a kind and I will always be grateful for his friendship.
This man was a true "diamond in the rough!" People was commenting on another video about what a bad thing his drinking was, but this is 3 years before he died at 81, and he still embraces his vices! May the sweet soul of this old gentleman live on forever!
Excessive drinking is bad don’t care long how this man lasted nor how many cas.... he walked behind, 5 percent of all the alcoholics probably probably conduct themselves normal.
Peter was like your very very very favorite Irish uncle who you would go visit, buy his booze and his cigars, spend hours talking and talking, and then come back the next week. Lovely, and ultra talented man who blessed us all with his divine presence in life
@James Henderson "O'Toole was born in 1932. Some sources give his birthplace as Connemara, County Galway, Ireland, while others cite St James University Hospital, Leeds, England. O'Toole claimed he was not certain of his birthplace or date, noting in his autobiography that, while he accepted 2 August as his birthdate, he had a birth certificate from each country, with the Irish one giving a June 1932 birth date."
@James Henderson Maybe but nobody wants to be from England because the entire world thinks you're charmless boring twats and always has. So he reinvented himself according to his roots.
There was never a sense that O’Toole had missed out on any mischief or debauchery. 😂 Conversely he adored Kate Hepburn, who occasionally threw a punch at him. He named his daughter after her. What a marvelous life.
My husband and I discussed this movie just last night and those were my exact sentiments. Peter O Toole could out class the majority of actors we have today.
useless actors who are "Stars" these days has max 2 hits and nothing more but consistent work!those stars back in the day Shined through in most movies they were in!
Robert Sellers wrote "Hellraisers", a wall to wall thrill ride through O'Toole, Richard Harris, Alan Bates, and Oliver Reed's adventures- Snap it up and get even more memories!
He was so amasing, one of the best actors ever and his legendary drinker friends as well Richard Burton, Richard Harris, Finchey as well great actors and legendary drinkers they never get aggressiv
I love this clip and i especially love how nobody including dave knew what on the lash means. Id love to have met peter. And reed and harris some lash be had
Went on the lash, the barman wouldn't serve us any more so we bought the bar... conclusion... the bar ran dry that night... fantastic love this Irish gent... I know he's English but he's a fantastic Irish man to me
I'm sure Richard and Peter and the other Richard and Oliver didn't mind being called hellraisers, mainly because there was no denying it. But in all truth and with special regard to O'Toole, Harris and Burton, they were spectacularly good at their job.
Peter O' Toole could explain the code of a UNIX server and I'd be transfixed. He was a gentlemen and storyteller from a time that does not exist anymore.
I met him first 1n 1976 in Dublin and again in 1979 a sweet mannerly man who had time for his fans..he told me he had two Birth Certificates...one Irish ,one English... he left Ireland with his family at the age of two and was REGISTERED in England...this should have been done in Ireland but was overlooked [registering a child today is all automatic in hospital..but not in 1932]....and so the debate goes on
