I am an International student of the UK and I don't know more about the Elderly welfare policy and related laws. But Peter who was a soldier should need to be well taken care of. He dedicated all his youth to this country and now no one are willing to support his transportation expenses.

I live in Italy and here we have a group called Auser they are all volenteers they pick old people up at.home take them to hospital visits ecc they wait for you and then take you home, its all Free.

It's sad that the people making decisions are the wrong people. Doctors should be trusted to make the decision to award patient transport not civil servants ticking boxes.

I thought the GP could arrange for NHS taxi for your hospital visits. Our local hospital closed down and you have to go further to other towns and big hospitals for treatments. This is due to the re-organisation of hospitals and specialities. Free transport should be available to people who need it. It is not right to ride 3 buses before you can get treatment. This should not be mean tested. I was asked by 119 to go for my 1st vaccination miles away, I refused. I don't know where that was, don't know how to get there and I don't drive and don't have to car now. Government told us to stay at home in the Lockdown, avoid travelling. She told me there was no local appointments but, not true - I managed to go to the local centre the same day where there was lots of appointments available, just crazy! sending you 3 bus rides away!

"The Government have got a lot on Their Plate" YEP but it's the wrong serving !! The Governments COULD do something but sweep it under carpets for a rainy day !!
