Peter Shaffer's award-winning play combines fiction and history to detail the final years of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Antonio Salieri, an older composer, propelled by jealousy, plots the tragic downfall of his brilliant rival.
Sir Peter Hall's production, first broadcast in 1983 and recorded with the original National Theatre cast, is being repeated as part of Radio 3's 'Genius of Mozart' season.
