0:42 - I took that picture at a Carnivore show 2007 in Essen, Germany, where I was a backstage guest invited by Paul Bento, the guitarist. That was Peter's Carnivore setup for smaller clubs (500 people maybe) but it was certainly not the setup he used for Type O - which I had the chance to hang out backstage a couple of times between 94 and 07.
Wow! I found that pic on the Equipboard website, didn't really have much info there so I assumed it was his regular setup. Thanks for commenting, really cool to have someone's input that knew Peter!
Though the sound is pretty similar. Those Carnivore shows were very club like, small venues where standing in the front row you could have pressed the effect pedals yourself. Type O shows were different and I have never noticed him using pedals. The Type O shows were way more professional so I guess they midi-triggered effects or whatever. My bro Josh Silver ftw!
Hey, i've recently started learning bass, and i'm very glad I did, and Type O Negative is most definitely my inspiration, I was wondering, what are the tabs you used for Love You To Death? I can't find any that resemble what you played, and it sounds the best out of all the ones ive seen, could I have a link or is this a version you made? Around 1:50 i never figured out why bass players change their position to play higher up the fretboard when they cud play allat just on a higher string, like how peter steele played it, and peter steele doesnt let the notes ring out, he mutes them while also playing a dead note in between. I wud prolly have to tab it out for u to understand but u get the idea of what im saying i hope.
ive found a similiar configuration on my pedalboard, some songs came out naturally, but some riffs sounded muddy, and you just told me why here, stay negative bro!
Thank you for the video. I have one question. I noticed that you also have a Darkglass pedal, does it deliver a similar distorsion effect than the Boss distorsion pedal that you used?
Darkglass plays in another league. All the pedals they make are bass oriented and handle low frequency better than regular pedals. I bet that the Darkglass can sound close to the Boss (It has Some EQ options) but there's no way that the Boss can sound like the Darkglass. They are very different concepts.

Anybody actually had problems with neck warped on a 4 string bass from tuning down to BEAD ? dun wanna mess up my bass since theres nobody anywhere close to do a fix.
I tuned my main bass down to BEAD with regular strings but ended up taking it to be set up for BEAD permanently. Once I started playing BEAD I don’t even care to play EADG anymore. I have a cheaper bass still set up EADG but never play it as I prefer BEAD. Of course I got into playing bass to play TON songs so.....
