A song I wrote and recorded in tribute to Peter Steele's passing. I've always been a HUGE fan of Type O Negative and their music. I did all the singing and playing of instruments on this recording.....RIP Peter.. Peace...Corey Tourigny
great tribute song my friend. Love it. Type O Negative - Carnivore & Fallout are my all time favourite bands & Danzig & The Misfits to. But Type O & Carnivore are what really turned on the music torch for me. & Peter Ratajczyk Steele is the reason why i even picked up the bass guitar in 1991 after hearing Type O's first album,"Slow Deep And Hard" & Carnivore's two albums before that. & actually "Slow Deep & Hard" was actually left over Carnivore material & you can really hear it in that album & then they definitely broke out on there own sound with "Bloody Kisses" which went gold platinum & was Roadrunner records first band to achieve gold status. But "Bloody Kisses" was a master piece for sure. So,so many Type O fans when asked what is your favourite Type O Negative album will say hands down,"October Rust" & understandably it's a great album for sure but that album was such a fluke by the band members lol as any die-hard Type O fan will know that they were a bunch of pranksters & never took themselves seriously but for the average fan or someone looking at them first hand would look at them & go man are they ever dark/mean looking & so depressed lol, in which Peter Steele was depressed & went through a lot of turmoil in his short life but "October Rust" was an album written solely with the purpose to get Peter laid more lol. & that it did as more woman would hang out at Type O's tour bus before/after shows & Peter would basically have his pick of the litter lol. & then my favourite Type O album by far was,"World Coming Down" which was a very dark album written by Peter after going through a very harsh break up with his girl friend at the time & slicing his wrist's & getting into cocaine then as Peter started cocaine at a relatively older age at 35 as most rock artists discover cocaine at a much younger age but that break up shattered Pete & then started drinking heavily also on top of the cocaine. But anyways "World Coming Down" is by far my favourite album as i can totally relate to that album big time. "Life Is Killing Me" is up there to for me but "October Rust" never really did it for me what so ever, it was so fake sounding to me with songs like,"My Girlfriend's Girlfriend" & "In Praise Of Bacchus" lol. & i'm a MASSIVE Type O Negative fan to but hey i'm entitled to criticize my favourite band. I still like the "October Rust" album because it does have some good songs that i like, but just because i say that, that doesn't mean I'm right by any means that's just my personal opinion on that album. I just think it's very non Type O sounding to me & i guess with them even saying that "October Rust" was a strange album for them also & the writing process solely being on writing material to get Peter laid more says it all to me lol. But ANYWAYS LOL. I Love Type O Negative & they have gotten me through MANY DARK DAYS IN MY LIFE, Sounds Weird Eh coming from a band that is so depressing sounding lol. & there musical sound alone is so depressing but i don't know man it's just sonic therapy for me as Peter says lol. & the lyrics aren't the best either with songs/phrases like,"Suicide Is Self Expression" or the song,"Kill All The White People" & there quotes on the back of albums like,"Don't Mistake Lack Of Talent For Genius" which is actually a positive spin for a change lol. & other phrases on the back of Type O albums like,"If God were suddenly condemned to live the life which he has inflicted on men, he would kill himself". or,"Better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you're not." or,"Whatever it is, we're agains't it." which was taken from there last album,"Dead Again" with "Rasputin" on the cover.
This is absolutely amazing, you did Peter and Type O proud man! I love this and thank you for a beautiful tribute to Peter....you sound so much like him......
Thank you all for the great comments...your truly special fans of the band and Peter...it's an honor to have put this up for everyone to enjoy....peace. Corey
Where can I buy your music? I never thought there would be anything that'd be able to fill the hole Peter's death left in our hearts. I might have a new obsession. I need every piece of your art.
Hi..Thank you I'm happy you enjoy these songs....You can go to bandcamp.com/devilsmirror that's my latest release. or you could just find some of my music here on youtube...thanks for your support! Peace....CT
Wish the production was better on it, I did it very quickly at the time and cut a lot of corners including my singing performance....glad you enjoy it though and it's my pleasure...
@werewolfmatingritual Happy to hear you liked the tune wolfy...I met Peter in 1993 and he was joking around as usual..I'll cherish that memory. And yes a true Metal Legend he was and always will be...Gone but NEVER forgotten....peace bro
Discovered this gem following the 10th anniversary of Peter's passing. I believe it's one of the best (original) songs in memory of Peter Steele. Guess it will be in my personal Top 10 Type O-related songs 4ever, along with your excellent version of "If She Loved Me". Thank U so much, stay healthy & safe at this difficult time for all of us. Greetings from Poland, Stay Negative Ө
Thank you Martin. You be safe as well. I may release another song this year at some point. I was going to for the 10th anniversary but with the Pandemic going on i havent had the ability to. Be well and give my love to Poland!
@@CoreyTourigny Thank You for your reply. I should also mention your versions of "Everything Dies" (a collaborative effort, right?) and "Love You to Death", which I have found on here only recently. I don't know how I may have missed this last-mentioned one. It was posted on April 14, 2012, which was precisely for the 2nd anniversary of Peter's passing. To me, it feels like a very special gift received just after this year's (10th) anniversary... and all those pics that accompany this track. Some of 'em I've seen for the first time. You have really made my day!
@@CoreyTourigny ... and I'm looking forward, of course, to hearing anything new in the [ hopefully near] future. Also, it will be a pleasure to share the tracks posted so far with a few of my fellow Type O fans. Best Regards
@@martinf.6318 Yes, Everything dies was a collaboration with a friend from Australia by the name of Gabe Moylan. Gabe did all the music and sent me the files in the states. I just added my vocal tracks and that was that...As far as Love you to death, also another collaboration, I used a piano track from an artist on here that goes by vkgoeswild. She is an amazing talent. When I heard her piano version of the song I felt compelled to sing over it. Both Gabe and VK deserve all the credit, all I did was howl out some mediocre vocals. I'm happy you enjoy the music as much as you do....keep poking around my channel and you may come across a couple more songs you might like as well...Be safe and well....Peace. Corey
@@CoreyTourigny Thanx for the info. Both collaborations are great, I can't imagine better vocals for these fine tracks. In fact, last year I saw a track or two by this artist VKgoeswild. Need to see and hear more. Hope she's still active. Have a great week and always Stay/Test Negative :-)
I am seeing Frankie and Johnny the song in my mind NOW. After you play Hey Pete, play Frankie and Johnny we're lovers. Oh Lordy ,how they could LOVE. Now that people ,places, things will be out of the way..... Maybe they can get that fresh start that they both cried and died for.... It is a dream I have........
This is incredible. It's a little hard to hear (wish it could be louder) but other than that, damn, it gives me the same kind of chills I hear when I listen to Type O. Wow!!
Look for the silver streak babe. You won't miss it. So sad. I was in same building 5 times. So close but yet so far...... Like you..... he's channeling me. I cry a lot..... They just changed my street name to Lily....Her man waits ....
@halo3masterable Thank you....I'm happy to hear the good responses..I'm currently not in a band...I write and record in my home studio. I'm going to do one more song like this but more up tempo. I've always been able to sing Peter's music, and everyone's always told me I sounded just like him....I take that as the highest compliment because he's a metal legend.....thanks again and keep an eye out for the actual video I'm going to make for this song and also the new song i'm working on....corey
wow this is great // nobody else has any thing like this // rembemember whenn / we made tapes on cassette / man those were the dayze // there is a lite at the end of the tunnel after all its fun and games
I am going to buy this album RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!! Amazing job brother. I look forward to your future compilations.... Great sounding mix job as well, very professional INDEED!!!!!!
@TheWarsServant Thanks..it's scary wondering what people would think of the song but so far it's been great responses so I'm happy...I'm in the usa..massachusetts to be exact....if the right band opportunity came around I'd jump no doubt....peace and thanks for leaving the comment..be well.
Wow You've channeled his essence pretty well. Nice tribute. Just sing a little lower and let the words hang a little longer and you've nailed it >:D Long Live Pete in all our hearts.
@XENOMORPHMANIAC Thanks...and I totally understand where your coming from...I'm in the middle of recording one more song in tribute to him..stay tuned..
@shannyscandy Thank you so much.....check out part 2 of the tribute on my channel and let me know what you think of that as well...I hope I've done the big man proud...again much thanks...Peace. Corey
@Danzigadoo666 I was going to do a video but I'm not sure now..don't want to get the message mixed...this isn't a self promoting thing but merely a tribute. I don't want to piss off anyone if I did a video...I guess I'd need more people to want one before i did it.. We would forgive him for sure...but the sad reality is he's no longer with us..physically anyways..happy to hear you liked the song though! Peace... corey
Thank you for sending me this song, Turg. Well done, and great TON style without being a biter (tough to accomplish, you've done it well!) I just hope Pete found in the afterlife whatever it is he was looking for in his limited time in this life.
Ok...Go to 4shared.com and type in PETER STEELE in the search bar and down the bottom you'll see my name "turigz" click on it and you can download both songs free! Peace..
So, I've just happen to wander upon your RU-vid videos. And man let me tell you, my friends told me I did a good peter impression. I'm going to have to show them your RU-vid channel. Keep up the good work . ..."you suck"
