Peter, Hi. Not sure how I stumbled upon this video, but I did. We were at school together in Cardiff - I was a couple of years behind you but we were friends through the drama group. Good to see that you finally made it as a doctor, despite the “little detour”. I beat you to it, qualifying in 1988. It’s no surprise though. You were a superb academic, sportsman, musician (and actor 😂) destined for great things and a far from conventional life. I wish you well in your medical career as I retire and sail into the sunset 😊
I am watching and listening this address in 2019. As an allied health professional, I want to thank Peter for addressing the need for health professionals to really "see" the person who is in front of them. I also want to congratulate him for referencing how the practice of medicine is increasingly dehumanizing both patients and practitioners. I send out good wishes to Peter on his journey in life.
If Peter walked in my room and he announced he was my anesthesiologist, I'd think I was in the Twilight Zone. He'd ask me about any allergies, and I'd ask him if he was Methos!
To paraphrase THE MOST UNFORGETTABLE CHARACTER HE SO BRILLIANTLY PORTRAYED, "He has been MANY things". And this is easily his greatest, humblest honored accomplishment. Bravo, Sir.
Congratulations Dr Wingfield! What a beautiful address to your classmates, families and faculty. You had a dream as a young man out of high school, and you kept it in your mind and in your heart until you achieved it. You exemplify where following your heart can lead, and that the reward doesn’t have to be an immediate one. You are an incredible role model for all of us. Thank you for all of that.
Thing about peter Winfield is he's earned his medicine after 35 years and as a doctor in what he loves in to have that much passion to learn and to do what he wants to do i salute him congrats peter
We have an actor in Sweden who did the same as Peter. He was on a tv show in his teens about a hospital and then he kept working for another 10 years untill he applied in his 30s and is now in his 40s. I like it when people do things like this. Can you imagine how many people who have walked in to his hospital and gotten shocked at seeing Methos, Dr James Watson or Tanith? Just by him being there might have been the push they needed to not feel scared of the condition they where in or the treatment they needed.
You maybe a doctor now but I will always remember you as methos Peter you truly mean good in every way I bet you would make a great older Brother I wished I had
I think it isnt odd that a actor has other dreams to fulfill in their life besides being a life long pretender now when he acts if he acts again his role as a doctor wont be pretend
