FINALLY!!!!! Video's for Petites!! There are SO many of us out here struggling with clothes shopping. I am 57 now and find it getting even harder. Thanks so much 😊
I am 5'2. When buying leggings if you buy the 7/8 leggings they are petite friendly. I also know the hack about shopping in the kids section for shoes. I also loved this video.
Wow! I am 4 foot 3 yeah I know the feeling especially when you go to a department store to want to try a pair of jeans and all at once you want to try on the size then the ones who work at the stores won’t help measure your waist just to see what size you wear which that is frustrating
I can relate...I am 65, 4"11" and wear shoe sizes 3 or 4. I am always in the children's section for shoes. Thank goodness they have come a long way since I was younger.
Thank you for your suggestions. Being 5´0 with 38D on top presents a challenge. Currently looking for jeans and it is frustrating! I will check the stores you suggested. ❤
I am 5" and wear an L/XL right now. It's so hard to find close that looks good. I know this is an older video, but the first one I found of yours. I subscribed and look forward to your newer ones ❤
I'm exactly ur size. Went from a 0/2 to a L/XL due to meds. Unfort L's r often too small & XL'S too big so nothing fits quite right. Imo, I often look dumpy & then I buy more & more clothes hopIng something will finally fit me right.
I'm 5ft 2in. One of the biggest TIP/HACK for me is to try my best to learn how to cut/fix and modify clothes by myself or at least have your trusted tailor. Because, correct sizing does matter.
Most jeans have Lycra in them for a little stretch. When you dry them in the dryer it wrecks the Lycra. They look good when you first put them on but when you bend, sit and flex your knees they invariable “bag out.” Line dry overnight.
Awesome tips! Thank you for your sharing and petit-friendly brand recommendations! I'm in your size and every bottom items seem a little too long on me. Now, I'm having more confidences on jeans shopping.
I buy my shoes from "Pretty Small Shoes" in the UK. A bit expensive, but worth it. Another option where I find my shoes are vintage shoes which feature my size or 4B. The US has nothing in my size. J. Crew sometimes has my size of 000 Petite or a OO Petite which runs small. I am not only Petite, but very slim. I have subscribed to your channel. At 74, I know what flatters me. You have mentioned many of my tricks! Size 5 sneakers are quite nice for me in Ladies. I have a high arch, childrens shoes do not, and they are too wide. My denim pants are a size 12 slim, children's over 20 years old. They are straight leg. I shall try some of the brands mentioned. Appreciate the tips!
Great tips! Thank you for your video! I’m 5’1”, 133 lbs with small boobs. I was having difficulty finding the correct bra size. 36A cup size was right but the rest of the bra was too tight and 38B was way too big. I bought a 2-hook bra extender from Amazon now 36A bras fit perfectly! I feel like the Fashion Industry left out a majority of us when they switched to high-waisted straight leg and boot cut jeans. Skinny miid-rise are so hard to find. I finally found jeans that fit! Levi 311 jeans size 4 except I’m going to need to add elastic to the waist because they stretch out after one day.
Omg I just found your channel. This is the very 1st video I saw already a fan subscriber. Girl, don't feel bad. I am barely 4'11, and I like to say I am 5'0 even 😂 just so I feel a little better about my height.
I’m 5’1” and my favorite pants are ankle length. But ankle length in petite are too long for me and usually have slits at the side which make them hard to shorten. I find that if I size down one size, regular size cropped pants are a perfect ankle length for me.
I'm 57 and 4'-10" tall. I love wide leg. I'm sure its a fashion no-no,but I like them. I like around 27" inseams. I have never worn skinny or ankle length. I also like mid rise. Can't stand anything high rise.
As a short woman with average length legs and a very short torso I buy up a size in low rise jeans and the jeans waist come to my belly button . I have a loose fit jeans that don't bag down to my knees in the coutch
One of the issues I have with jeans or bottoms is the distance between my waist and hips as well as the leg length……also with tops the arms are too long even though you might get a cropped top
Jeans or slacks that are “short” length fit much better than petite, because petites have a shorter rise as well as inseam. Difficult to find, especially Plus Petite.
Vanity sizing had eliminated the ability for Petite, slim people to find small sized clothing and shoes. The masses are catered to and Plus sized women as well. All for Corporations to make as much money as possible. My style is Classic and within that frame of style, quality clothing does not fall out of style easily. I also love fine jewelry and wear my items one or two pieces at a time. My mother worked in a corporate professional setting, from watching her and my aunt and great aunt, I learned to dress and other manners. Very grateful to them.
I think so! depends on the retailer. Look at the inseam of the jean. (It should say it online) "Crop" & "Short" & "Petite" inseams can vary quite a bit. Ive seen it from 23" inseam all they way up to 28" inseam and each brand labels it differently. Which can totally be confusing lol
I bet I am shorter than anyone watching this video... Every Petite woman needs to learn how to sew. In fact all women need to learn how to do at least alterations, but better still learn how to make clothes. I started when I was 8 years old to sew on an electric sewing machine and that was in 1953. I am five inches shorter than Elana. Of course it is hard to sew for your own body unless you have someone else to pin for fittings, but I have managed over the years to sew most of my own clothing...
Would you ever consider doing a video giving your tips on how you do your online shopping? You said that is the main way that you do your shopping and I would love to watch a video about that. Like what you look for with the clothes that you pick out and how you know if it will look good on you
omg!! funny how you ask that! I actually plan to have that exact type of video posted this month! I'll be going over what I look for when I'm searching for clothing + what I try to avoid! Can't wait to share!!!
Here are a couple of things that work for me, vneck tops are more flattering than crewneck. Pulling up your sleeve and showing your wrist is very flattering and sexy and it adds length.
Is anyone else mesmerized by this sweet, bubbly young person? She is so down to earth and good natured and inclusive. I am old but I AM petite so even I learned some tips from her. 😊
I'm new to your channel but I find you so exciting to watch and learn. I'm 5ft 2in. and 71 yrs. old and you gave me new ways to fix my jeans and tops we may be seniors but we still can look great Thank you
Oh yes! Finally a video for petites that doesn't push high waisted jeans onto everyone 😃 I have a short waist and big boobs and if my jeans are high rise it just looks ridiculous 😳 I prefer midrise so I actually have that definition between my tops and bottoms. Way more flattering 😊
Love your channel! It’s refreshing to see more options from other petite women! One of my favorite short girl hacks is buying 7/8 leggings and they fit perfectly full length for me! No rolling up needed. 4’11 over here :) keep up the great work!
I’m 5ft as well and here in Australia we have a brand called MARCS very petite friendly. Have a look online. A lot of their fabrics are cotton, silk and wool.
Your size 6 women's shoes is not really THAT small. I always see Size 6 everywhere. Size 5 is another story!! That one size makes a big difference. Even online shoes often start at size 6 but NOT size 5. I mostly like to wear low wedgy heels, not flats, especially low wedgy tennis shoes.
I keep my measurements on hand and a soft tape measurer in my purse. When I go to thrift store or resale shop, I can know if something will fit or not.
Pants are less of an issue for me than tops are. For me, being petite is more than about height. My sister and I are both 5’ 2”, but she can wear regular tops and I can’t. Regular sizes don’t fit me on shoulder width, arm length and also the underarm seam.
Petite style tips= PET I TEST JOHN WILEY CROSS IPS MAIN STREET DALLAS TEXAS NEXT DOOR MEXICAN FOOD JOINT THAT CAUGHT FIRE AND I DIDN'T APPRECIATE THE BURNING OF THE CHEVROLET MURAL THAT WAS PAINTED ON THE OUTSIDE WALL 🧱👈
Great video, I am also 5 zero and over the years I have been struggling to find good jeans, sleeves are all very long on me and not all stores are petite friendly, it's try, try, try...thanks for a great video.
I agree with the high rise! I’m also 5’0 and the highest I want jeans is also my belly button. If not I have no torso. 😂 I’m a bigger size than you by quite a bit but that rise is key for me!
Petites come in different bone frame sizes. For instance, I am a petite that is 5’1” but I have a medium to large bone frame, so feet are average size and tiny accessories don’t work on me. They need to have some size and weight to balance it all. So all petites do not have tiny feet!!
Thank you for sharing. I’m 4’11. I was searching for jeans petites hack and here I am in your channel watching all your videos. It’s really really helpful.
Great video. ❤ I am 5’3.5” and I am a size 14, full bust and short waisted with long legs. I can get away with cropped pants as they balance my proportions. I have 4 pair of nicer cropped pants and two casual. I also wear boot cut and flare jeans these are usually my preference as they accentuate my legs. I also wear open neckline tops. My shoulders are soft so I buy drop shoulders tops or collared shirts. I also stay away from puff sleeves. I can only wear a very slight puff. I don’t wear heels but I do wear lug sole boots & loafers for comfort and I prefer the style. I get jeans hemmed by a tailor because I like a more finished bottom on my jeans in case I dress them up a bit. I wear knee length, ankle length and mid calf length dresses because I do have longer legs and I always try to buy a dress with an open neckline and simple colors. I only wear stripes. No florals or big prints. Lots of solid colors. I like the cotton shirts from Everlane. The cotton is thick and the style is not so cropped that they are showing your stuff. I too love a waistline right at the belly button, too high is not my thing and I need some room since I’m short waisted. I find bras at Torrid, I find petite items at Chico’s and Talbots. I usually only look for petite jackets if they are a fitted look so the waist hits at the right area as long as the sleeve is not too short. Chico’s also has Chico’s off the rack-online and in outlets. I wear their jeans. They are soft and comfortable and they come in basic styles. I also like Torrid jeans, the denim is soft and comfortable. I also love banana republic factory. I find sweaters, & dresses there all the time and very affordable & stylish. ❤ 😊
Don’t be afraid. Try it on a pair that maybe you don’t love or is on its way out. At 4’9’’, it is a game changer for me. If you’re scared, cut them a little longer than you think and you can always cut more.
Thanks for your advice. Im 4foot 9 1/2 inches, my breast are larger than I want them to be and my butt isn’t as nice at it once was. I’m 60 years old now and it’s kinda flatter than it was 😒no matter how hard I hit the gym. So I definitely understand you. I wear a size 5- or 5 1/2 size shoe but kids shoes are too wide for my skinny feet. I fix most of my clothes always. It’s not easy being short and not everything looks good specially loose pants new Subbie 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I'm 4'11", my inseam is 24" and I'm bottom heavy with big thighs. I LOVE Eddie Bauer Boyfriend jeans! They always fit whether I'm a size 6 to 12. Currently I'm in my 12's, I have 6 pair of EB in rotation, all are boyfriend, relaxed petite or cropped and while they all fit different as far as length, waist size, leg width, etc. Somehow they still all manage to fit and look good!! I buy them as well as most all my clothes exclusively on sites like poshmark and mercari so they cost a fraction of retail prices.
I just bought youth Nike sneakers that were $15.00 cheaper than the adult shoes! I get leggings that are 7/8 length and they work great for me since they reach exactly to my ankle bone. I don’t like cropped tops all that much because they are a bit boxy on me. I am a bit on the longer torso side.
i am exactly like u but with few years older hahaha, but now is that I am discovering that I am petite and how to dress up thanks to you!!!! thank u so much!!!
Aritzia is also good for petites. Thank you. I’m 4’10 and have been trying to pair cropped pants with ankle boots. Trying to figure out where best to have the hem hit.
I’m sorry. I had to stop watching 3:09 The sheer number of times you said “I feel like” is so much that I just couldn’t with that anymore. And I’m not one to nitpick someone’s words. Fun fact. “I feel like” actually translates to “I think”. Seriously. Test it out. At 5’2” I was excited for this information. Maybe try scripting your words first? 🤷🏼♀️ You’re using this phrase as a filler. Your point would be better made not saying it at all or only once or twice in the whole video. Best of luck.
Thanks Elana. I just subscribed. Here's a TIP: I frequently buy jeans in Target's Kid Department. Sizes run up to 16 (based basically on the child's age). Size 14 fits me perfectly. However, styles do vary and I don't think I would ever order online. Saves a ton of money compared to what jeans cost elsewhere and I love the inner gizmo that allows you to adjust the waist size. Looking forward to checking out more of your videos. Thanks again.
I'm 5'2", but wear a size 10 shoe. I usually wear ballerina flats to make my feet appear smaller. I'm a senior who can't do heels anymore, but I won't go the orthopedic route. I'm extremely long waisted and long in the leg with less than 5" between waist and leg. I depend on separates, but I have a very difficult time finding flared pants that fit. Any suggestions?
Hi, thanks for the video! For those of us with small feet, Cinderella of Boston and Chinese Laundry has smaller sizes. Macy's usually has access to size 5's too. They don't always have them in stock but at least you can order them. Just thought I'd throw out some brands for shoes.
Hi! Your new subscriber just now. Im so happy to find your channel. Im only 5ft and dressing myself is so difficult. I have low waist, can I still wear mid rise or high rise? Im 55 but all my life I wear low rise jeans..it is so hard to find low rise here. I believe if im short already, I dont need low rise? Need your advise. Thank you fellow petite.
