I adore hostas! I wish I had more of a full shaded yard but I don't. I choose the least "sunny spots" and they do just fine.. so many more varieties these days to choose from.. i just love them! Thank you.
Rabbits eat my hostas down to the ground. One was eating it right in front of me and wasn't even scared. At first it was only the soft green hostas and they didn't seem to like the more thicker, variegated ones. So I bought 7 of the green and white ones. They ate them all within two weeks.
Thank you so much for all the info. An the products needed for success. So much better than each bursary saying THIS IS THE BEST YOU MUST BUY THIS ........
In the Pacific Northwest coast of Washington I've never had deer damage to my Hostas. Slugs every single night for sure. Yuck! I've went in the house for a glass of iced tea and come out to my Heucheras and Geraniums chewed down to the dirt though. I love when someone uses the term"deer browsing ". How about "total annihilation"? 🤣🦌🦌🦌
Hi, i love hosta, iam new for the hosta plant, i just order some bare root, i live in a country sunny, but i can plant them where is shade and sun also, but i like them very much, and i want my garden full of hosta plant, please help.
Hosta plantaginea varieties tend to have excellent fragrance, they are generally later bloomers (in August), possess large, trumpeted white to pale lavender flowers, and size and leaf coloring vary widely. 'Royal Standard' is a large, classic with bright green foliage & has good sun tolerance. 'Guacamole' is a large sport of 'Fragrant Bouquet', one of our fragrant favs. It can tolerate some sun, but its sports are more sun tolerant including 'Stained Glass' and the newest 'Etched Glass', both medium size and yellow centered leaves with green margins.
