Hello, kelly! Thanks for this video! Have you ever planted a hydrangea on a slope? Will it grow upwards, upright, after compensating for the slope? Or is it going to droop over down the incline and tip over if I don't assist it and growing upwards? It's not a huge incline. Maybe 35°

Thank you very much for your informative video on hydrangea's. I am in the process of designing my front garden and wanted to plant Hydrangeas and I am sold on Let's Dance Starlight. Also, the information on applying aluminum sulfate to achieve a blue color is appreciated. Have a great afternoon!

Hi! For the rhythmic blue hydrangea, you said they get to be about 2’ tall and 3’ wide. When I looked them up, I see it says 3-4’ wide and tall. Did you find that when you had them planted at home they grew a bit shorter than what the Proven Winners website says? Just curious because I’m looking for a blue hydrangea that tops out at 3’ and love this one but don’t want one bigger than 3’.

You can plant anytime now through fall! If you decide to plant now, when it's hot and dry out, remember to thoroughly water new plants. We recommend 1" of water, applied slowly and throughly 1x per week (sometimes they need a little more when it's especially hot and dry). We also recommend planting with Espoma Bio-tone to help establish growth and reduce transplant shock.

I have two huge lime light is it normal they get so big and fall over? I cut them back in the fall and each huge flower grows on a 4-5 ft branch but always topple over…is this normal?
@PetittiGardenCenters
@PetittiGardenCenters 2 года назад
Yes, this can happen with the limelight trees and shrubs. To help with the bent branches, simply remove the large flowers that are weighing down the branches. You can prune up to 1/2 the length of the branch to remove. Enjoy them in a vase or let them dry hanging upside down in the garage. There may be time for new buds/blooms to form before the first fall freeze. Next year, prune down to the basketball size in late winter/early spring. Then, in late May, remove 1/2 the length of the new growth. This will keep the plant more compact, and the flowers will be slightly smaller, but more profuse.

Thank you for this video! I love all your videos and your love of plants. When to stop deadheading the old and new wood in zone 6? You didn’t mention when to stop pruning
@PetittiGardenCenters
@PetittiGardenCenters 4 года назад
You can really deadhead as long as you like to remove/collect the spent/dried flowers down to two nodes. We don't want you to heavily prune hydrangeas in fall because this can remove the buds on old wood for next growing season, can cause new growth that may get damaged in fall/winter, generally weaken the plant, and it will need to be pruned in the spring, so fall pruning creates more work in the long run. Deadheading is generally beneficial at any time of the year.

Hi Noelle. Tour knowledge on plants is impeccable. This was one of the best comprehensive video on explaining the different types of hydrangeas. You just answered one of the most important question which was… I don’t need to protect my tuff stuff mountain hydrangeas but macrophylla & oakleaf does need protection. Thank you very much!

Is serrata hydrangea same the group aspera please?
@PetittiGardenCenters
@PetittiGardenCenters 3 года назад
No, the two families are different but do have similar lace-cap flowers. H. aspera tend to be identified by their “rough” fuzzy leaves & usually larger habit.
@OhBloomsbyป้าสาวลุงเอียน
@@PetittiGardenCenters Thank you. Can I say there are seven groups of hydrangea?
