How can I disagree, what with all I've said above ?... This IS THEE BEST guitar rendering of this vastly difficult and lengthy composition, EVER !.....
Mrs. Poláčková, I am absolutely blown away by your performance here. I am 62 at this moment of writing, and have played classical guiter since childhood, and always loved to listen to it. I had never heard of you, until RU-vid placed you on top of a suggested play list. You instantly soared to the very top of my personal list of favorite performers and performances. Thank you so much 🙏. All of God's Peace and Blessing.
As a retired amateur classical guitarist, I have heard lots of performances mostly on RU-vid and on record and this piece, in my opinion, is the one that separates the great guitarists, and so when I began to listen, I sat back with a critical ear ready to judge the level of proficiency of this guitarist. I was waiting to judge any flaw either in musicality or technique and I can say that I was in tears by the end of this performance. The addition of the lower strings was a pleasant surprise which made it even better than a standard 6 string guitar.
This is one of the MOST MOVING and SUBLIME performances I have ever heard on any instrument. PETRA POLACKOVA sends me to a place from where I do not want to return! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Nirvana...
currently there is no better recording of the guitar-version out there. Petra plays so exquisite and tastefull. Surely the bass-strings and the church also contribute to the great sound, but her interpretation is definetely outstanding.
Seen and heard many interpretations, but this is one of the best. Very well played, absolute master level. Technically perfect, with a great sense of the nature of the music.
It is an amazing performance without any doubt. I like it very much. But I also like this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JNEnzNHTkd8.html
Absolutely stunning! I've not before encountered a performance of this piece on guitar that's brought tears to my eyes - bravo! Before today I'd have said Hilary Hahn's solo violin was the ultimate expression of the piece... now I'm not so sure!
My dearest, dearest Petra... long overdue...i bow to your exquisite capability and understanding of this gorgeous masterpiece. As a fellow Bach enthusiast i know this is a violin piece, but clearly the great composer anticipated an interpretation as yours being a possibility in the future, which he obviously regarded as being one of growth and also of the heritage of that which is grand! Thank you ever so much, you gorgeous human being!!!
Well, lovely Petra, Your mastery is un questionable. Your emotive and thematic qualities are dazzling. Your performance is a testimony to how qualities of truth, beauty, beauty and meaning, blend together in Pappa Bach's writing, and again leaving our world a better place. Bravo, my dear, Bravo. Ronnie Rugato
wow! one of the greatest pieces of music ever written, played perfectly by a beautiful, sensual woman. it doesn't get any better than this. as a violinist, i actually prefer to hear this on guitar. it retains the intimacy of a single string instrument, but with richer harmonies possible, and without all the clunky-ness of having to "break" the 3 and 4 string chords like we're forced to do on the violin. thank you for this beautiful performance.
Interesting view. As a guitarist I've always enjoyed the original violin over the guitar. The act of breaking the chords on the violin to my ear always elevated the angst and agony of the work, it's an element truly unique to the bowed instrument and lost on other adaptions. However, here Petra as truly elevated the bar for all plucked string interpretations. This performance has everything and moves me very deeply.
Absolutely beautiful. The sound of this guitar is awesome. The interpretation is stunning. It's the best version I have heard of this masterpiece so far.
I can never watch this without tears. The beauty of the music and the playing defy my descriptive abilities, but my emotions know exactly how to express themselves ❤️☯️🙏
Dare I say: the best Chaconne performance available out there? I think so. The tone is just amazing - her plucking, guitar itself and the recording - magnificent.
Your interpretation of this piece is incredible. I've been playing classical guitar since the mid-70s and this has for a long time been one of my favorites. There is is something very special about this piece and you succeed brilliantly in bringing it out. I read that Bach wrote this after returning from a trip to find his wife dead from a sudden illness and already buried. I find that profound grief and tenderness and love for his wife in this piece. Every time I hear it it moves me to tears, and no other piece in the all of the classical guitar music I've heard and played has that effect on me. You make the guitar come alive. It's as if the strings themselves are weeping.
Great interpretation of the Chaconne. This one and the one by Moran Wasser in his 11 string guitar are now my favorites. I wish the description of the instrument was included. I saw Petra in Cleveland, in the summer of 2019, her playing was delightful.
BRAVO !!!
Well, this handily supplants my previous favorite version by Narciso Yepes. I doubt it could be played any more perfectly. And I'm so glad the recording itself is up to the quality of the playing and the sonics of this instrument.
The sound quality of this video is really excellent and thereby enables me to fully appreciate the majesty of Bach's composition and the beautiful performance by this young woman who exudes grace and poise throughout
Perfect playing!! Perfekt camera!!Fantastic and extraordinary!! Thank you for this!! I have a question, what is the name or type of this Kind of guitar?
Such a sensitive interpretation 💕🙏 Her love for the music she plays . . . It's like she is caressing her instrument . Heck , I can't explain - english is not my native language ! But it makes me cry because it is so wonderful
This has become my all-time favourite musical performance. Astounding, emotional, perfect. Is this the best performance of the best piece of music ever written?
One of the pieces that gives me consolation , so deep, and as long as young artists perform this masterpiece and share it with the world, there will be hope for humanity. Thanks Bach, thanks Polackova.
Bravo !
This has to be the best interpretation of this piece I have ever heard. The recording and instrument is amazing. She breathes so much expression and life into what I consider to be the pinnacle piece of classical guitar. I am 56 and still am driven to accomplish to one day to play this piece. I applaud everything that you must have went through to attain the mastery of this.
couldn't agree more. the expressiveness and articulation is perfect. i must have heard ~100 interpretations of this piece and hers ranks right up there with segovia. i also like her tempo a lot. i think a lot of interpretations drag it out too much. this is very refreshing.
Now i am listening to the music of an incomparable composer, Bach, played by an excellent artist Petra Polackova. It was really something fabulous. Thanks for uploading.
Wow. Just wow. I worked on the Chaconne for my graduation recital at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música in Mexico almost 50 years ago, but never did fully master it. Magnífica!
An extraordinary performance and excellent sound recording quality that showcases the unbelievable talent of the artist. Every note has the right balance and texture. I was in tears within minutes. Bravo and thank you !
BEAUTIFUL! BEAUTIFUL! BEAUTIFUL! I've seen many versions of this online now and yours is simply one of the very best performances. You understand. The grace, subtleness, the feeling, dexterity, modulation, poise, dynamics just excellence! I'm sure Bach would have been proud!
Felicitaciones!
If she was performing at my church I would probably show up an hour early with anticipation. I imagine King David was probably talented like this with a stringed instrument
I loved your performance, a beautiful rendition of my favorite piece. It doesn't feel like a romantic interpretation of a baroque piece, even though the guitar is a copy from that period. Here's a question you probably get often: What type of guitar is that and how is it tuned? I look forward to hearing the performances of your other videos.
As an American and a Texan, and lover of classical guitar, there are “no words” to express my appreciation for such a beautiful performance of the Chaconne to soothe our minds and souls as we endure the abject insanity of this time. Thanks, and all the best to you and yours.
Waouuoouu !!! Beautiful ! I've been working this piece for several months on an 15 chors archiluth and I can just testimony how demanding it is and how incredible is the interpretation of Petra. This music is divine, pure beauty, celest, it has been written by God under the hands of JSBach. But as it is very long, and on a chaconne repetitive pattern, there is a risk of becoming boring at certain moment - but I can ensure it's never the case here. My ears were all along wide open, and probably my mouth too ! 😮
My absolute favourite version of this masterpiece by a maestro. Played this piece in my youth and know how extraordinary this fantastic playing is. A truly outstanding masterpiece.
This is the finest, most nuanced, sensitive rendition of the Chaconne I have ever heard (and I've heard dozens). Bravo! Those bass resonances - wow. I want one of those guitars now 😁🖖🏼❤️🇦🇺
13.44 minutes of pure heaven! I can only describe Petra's performance as such. The three elements of music, JS Bach's score, Ms Petra's playing, her nine string guitar, seamlessly bond together to produce a sound so memorable & special.
I was impressed with her tone quality and musical interpretation but the extremely smooth legato vertical chord shift at 1:24 is when my jaw hit the floor. I can't even....
Magnifique !
Flawless. Moving. Measured. Heartfelt. Rivals Segovia’s Chaconne, which I’d thought insurmountable in my opinion, even by John Williams or Julian Bream. Until now. Words cannot capture the perfection, magnificence and depth of this performance. Brava, Petra!!! Wow. Wow. Wow…
BRAVISSIMO!
