I have Cassettes from that era, saw them live several times, at Icthus, at Asbury , Wilmore , Ky in the late 70's early 80's.... Played It is Finished at my husband's funeral.. love this set of songs.
The original version of this song is one of my all-time favorite Petra songs, and I still prefer that version....but this one is really, really good too!
Wow. The Lord gave me this tune in '73. We did it unplugged in our band "E". Petra recorded it in '81 & it was their 1st big hit. Folks have told me they've done it in kid's choirs, w/puppets, dancing veils, flags & more. I'm just thankful God has used it. But I never thot I'd hear it with the entire melody changed! I wonder why. Trying to be objective, if another band had tried to rewrite it w/more of a rock feel, I'd say: not bad. But since Petra mutated their own tune, I'd say: kinda sad. But I'm sure God will use all versions... cuz His truth is forever. Rock on.
Dave Eden This whole album came off sad. The remake version of This Means War had me in tears. Not laughing, either! They didn’t sound like they meant it. The original This Means War was a battle anthem meant to have the enemy quaking in his boots, but the new version sounded so very pitiful, like a bullied kid on the playground vowing a revenge that’ll never actually materialize.
I was hesitant in wanting to listen to this having loved the original version. But this isn't bad, and if I hadn't heard the original that I would have liked this just the way it is.
Who sings this version? It's not the original singer of Petra, but I prefer this version of the coloring song better, because it actually sounds like classic rock, whereas the other version doesn't. Can anyone help me find out who sings this version? Thanks!
