Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri slammed Congress and the Congress-run Karnataka which shocked nation by raising petrol and diesel prices by ₹3 per litre around a week after election results. In an exclusive conversation with India Today Group’s Jitendra Singh, the minister accused the opposition party of playing politics with the prices of petrol and diesel, adding that the Congress was trapped in its own game this time. According to the minister, Congress leaders had promised ₹100,000 every year to women across the country along with other guarantees. With women now seeking the funds, the minister said the Congress party was in panic mode and had no other option but to resort to fuel price rise in Karnataka. He also accused “Congress Professors” Sam Pitroda and Jairam Ramesh of giving statements without substance.
