I haven't been to Pet's At Home in such a long time. I buy things on line now. I really need to go in there. Great video as always I just love watching your videos
Yeah they are very similar to bird toys ! I have a online store called Tiny Hamster Paws and I ship to every country. The only thing is postage is a little expensive but it’s worth it if you get a bunch of items you can’t get in your own country! I will be adding some new things over the next coupe of weeks x
I love those toys you bought from P@H. Looks like they have some nice things in there. Might get some for my new hammie Trixie Boo when I get her in September. Love your vlogs can't wait for vlogs as I think they are so interesting and fun to watch. Xxx 😀😊
That poor Syrian! Hope it goes to someone who'll give it a big cage and lots of climbing toys, because that's one active hamster. I hope you get a westie - they're brilliant dogs. I used to have cairn terriers, which are very similar but different colours. They were amazing, and I'd love to have one again someday.
I know 😞 yeah I was thinking the exact same hopefully it ended up somewhere nice. Oh really ☺️ yeah westies seem like such lovely dogs I look forward to getting one in the future xx
Hamsters can climb on toys and cage accessories placed on the ground such as bridges there’s nothing wrong with that. Hamsters love climbing on things and as long as it’s not too far from the ground I don’t see how it would be an issue
@@malicahamilton hamsters can climb but they shouldn’t; they are ground dwellers and they definitely don’t “love to climb” they also have poor eyesight which makes it hard for them to see things…Victoria Raechel has more on this topic on her RU-vid channel
Hamsters love climbing on things meaning the things placed on the floor of their cage not stuff like high ladders and multiple levels. I already know who Victoria is we have been following each other on Instagram for years. This comment was made a few years ago and I think they meant hanging toys.
Make sure to do plenty of research before deciding on a dog breed 🙂. I used to work at a groomers and we had many different breeds in. Westies are very naughty and difficult to train! They also get dirty very easily.
I have done research into the dog breed and I have wanted a westie for years. Yeah I know they can be stubborn but that’s fine and I know they get dirty easily because they do have white fur so that’s just expected. They are the perfect size and temperament and would fit my lifestyle perfectly ☺️
I live in UK and pets at home is known for bad advice , selling dangerous products , advising them and selling inbred mutilatwd fish with parasites , there's a thing to shut them down, everyone knows they want your money and they don't care about animals , I wonder if she has a sponsor with them or something?
I don’t have a sponsor with pets at home and I hardly ever visit the store or any pet store if I’m honest. UK pet stores are far better than stores in America because they label their hamster incorrectly and give them fancy names and set them at different prices depending on the way they look to people buy them thinking they are a special kinda hamster when in fact it’s a Syrian hamster in different colours. The advice they give customers probably isn’t that good if they can’t even tell them the correct name of the animal they are purchasing. American pet stores sell cats and dogs which is disgusting and illegal in the UK. Yes pets at home is not perfect they could improve on so many things but other places are doing far worse
@@malicahamilton In the U.S. Petsmart and Petco don't sell puppies or kittens but they occasionally have animals from animal shelters. Some family owned pet stores sell kittens and puppies but luckily things are getting better. Some states are now banning the sale of puppies and kittens. In my state, Oregon, it became illegal about 3 or 4 years ago to sell puppies. Kittens are still legal to sell but most pet stores don't sell them. Laws are slowly changing for the better.
Im from the uk and what cheap and suitable cages do you suggest? :) i might be getting a hamster in a few months for my bday and i just wanna know please :D love you hammy btw
I’m going pets at home after my birthday I’ve been saving up for hamster for 11 years and after my birthday (when I get money or if I get money) I will buy 1 can’t wait! Called coco (white and brown hamster)
@@malicahamilton it’s going be a falco skyline cage bc I have a dog what hates animals and loves to go in my room so I’m getting that cage bc my mum has no reserch and the money for hamster cages are ridiculous so I need a cage what can go on my draws high up so my dog doesn’t eat it when we go out like highschool work and stuff if u get what I mean!
Great video as always❤️! I’m not sure if you’ve talked about this before (sorry if you have😅) but what kind of dog are you thinking of getting☺️? Is it just a westie or are you thinking of other breeds🐶? Dogs and hamsters are so cute, I love animals😍
Thank you so much for watching I’m glad you enjoyed it ❤️ I have had my mind set on a westie for years they are the perfect dog for me and they suit my lifestyle really well. They have such a nice temperament and tend to be really calm and gentle. They are the perfect size not to small or too big and of course they look adorable ☺️ xx
Malica Hamilton aww that’s so awesome❤️! I used to know an old couple who had two old westies, I saw them everyday. They were so kind and adorable and would always accept a cuddle or stroke☺️ They are adorable dogs😁🐶❤️
Maisie Xx It was the purely way one but they mostly just sell hamsters , guinea pigs and fish now. They used to also sell reptiles , degus , chinchillas and rats
It’s safer to get one unless your getting two purebreds from a breeder. This is because there’s a high chance they could fight and possibly kill each other. Also if you want to house two hamsters you must have two of everything set up in the cage as well as an extra cage on hand incase you need to split them up 💕
I'm getting a hamster next month and I was wondering if sent you a picture of the cage on instagram would you be able to tell me if I'm missing anything x
Malica Hamilton I know I’m really late but I’m planning on getting a hamster and I’m going to get everything from pets at home (including the cage, food, bedding, toys etc) do you know how much money I’ll roughly need?

@@guineapigsparadise5181 i would say around £100 but i was planning on making a bin cage which is bigger and cheaper than pet shop cages. But the quality and brand of item also effects the price
Pets at home don’t sell cats only small animals and fish I’m not even sure if they sell reptiles anymore. You will have to look at rescue or online for cats
Hmmm I think there is one that’s somewhat suitable but I can’t remember the name. If you’re looking for a hamster cage I wouldn’t recommend pets at home because their cages are a little over priced x
I’m new to your channel. I have a ikea detof cage and use care fresh and pets at home wood shavings (ate the wood shavings safe?) I jsut moved back to the U.K. and I don’t know Thankyou
When making rabbit pie for tea I used to go to the local butcher's, but since their new store opened in Luton, I have found Pets at Home do much better deals.
Because they are still young but they will be brought separately within a couple days they don’t stay there for long they get new hamsters in every week ☺️
Well Hamsters can eat beetroot flavoured treats but giving them fresh beetroot is not recommended especially if it’s pickled because it can be a bit to sweet and acidic
omg. This I know was last year but, let me tell you whats wrong with the enclosures. Never put hamsters together, theyre solitary animals. They will end up fighting which will lead to injurties/death and honestly that's whats wrong with pets at home. Years ago I bought 2 hamsters from the place n the 2 were in the same enclosure, one clearly wasn't treated right tho I will not go into detail on her behavior. Pets at home needs to know this like-
Actually that’s not entirely true. You do know hamsters can live together for the first few months ? They are separated by sex so all the females will go together and all the males will go together. They only house the hamsters together from the same litter. Once they get to the pet store yes the cages are tiny and poorly set up so it would be better if they were a bit different however they are only in there for a few day’s and by the end of the week they would have all gone to new homes. When it comes to buying 2 hamsters they will let you buy 2 dwarfs however it’s also down to the owner to have done their research before hand. I once adopted 2 Russians dwarfs and I done my research before hand so I know there was a possibility that they could end up falling out. They lived together for a few months and then I had to separate them so luckily because I done my research I was prepared with a extra cage on hand. Pets at home should stop the sale of 2 hamsters at a time because yes dwarf hamsters can live together but the ones in pets at home are hybrids so they are most likely to fall out. If you get a pair of winter whites or a Campbell’s from a breeder then because they are pure breeds they are more likely to get on with one another. The dwarfs in pets at home are just hybrids a combination of the two breeds and there for their behaviour is different and they shouldn’t be sold as a pair unless they are going to be living separately. Syrians should never be housed together because they are completely solitary even in the wild. Russian dwarfs are hybrids and should never be housed together because fighting is a possibility. Pure breeds can be housed together because they are less likely to fight because in the wild they generally live in small groups unlike Syrian hamsters.
@@malicahamilton ah i see, i dont know much on dwarfs 😂 syrians are really the ones i was talking about, but i see what ya mean. Tho i have a question, pets at home has this cage where its rounded at the sides n at the front it slopes in at the middle and in the inside has this green second floor where the bowl is. Roof is a clear plastic to see inside, it also has very little room to add in new toys n a new wheel or hide outs. And i cant raise the stuff we put down so which means our hamster cant burrow. Wouldn't you agree this is too small? Ive been tryna get my mum to at least get an Aquarium to use as an enclosure for our syrian
PotatoSalad If your pets at home let you buy 2 Syrians then that’s so wrong because they should know they can’t live together 😕 Pets at home cages are pretty small but you can always make a temporary bin cage ?
@@malicahamilton we had them separated at home. Im in the making of using one of those, it had a crack in the corner tho, i taped it up tho. Its not fully finished so shes still in her small cage. I need new bedding too as its very troubling to get it out as in the bag its solid and hard to pour out :( may ask my mum if i can buy an Aquarium for my hamster :)
@@malicahamilton oh- the pets at home near my house and it treats thrm mostly well but i think i was just lucky because o know not all [ets shops are like that, they shoukd be tho-
@@10ksubswithoutanyvideoscha36 They normally move them into the adoption center which is also where unsold livestock end up. It's not just for the animals who have been brought back.
I think I what you do is amazing but with Pets at Home being the worst pet store in the UK for advice and pet care, I really don't think you should be advertising them ❤️ especially with their fish advise too which is horrific. They only care about money, not animal welfare, but love everything else you do ❤️ #dontshopatpetsathome
Pets at home in my opinion is not the worst pet store in the UK. Pets at home is alright they could change a few things such as sourcing their animals from places that are a bit more ethical, they could improve on their small animal cages and possibly train staff a bit better in certain areas as well as several other things. They not only provide you with a pet store but a groom room and vets is also available all in one place. Their vets are actually cheaper than most other places I have been to. The main reason why I went into the store in the first place was to get my hamster cremated and they charge less than half the price of what all the other companies I contacted were charging. I always find the staff to be very friendly the store is clean and welcoming, they have good products and they offer an adoption center. However there are still a few many things they could improve on because they are far from perfect. And I did pick out some points in the video such as the cages not being suitable for animals but some things they have done which are good is stopping the sell of reptiles in their stores and they stop selling rabbits around Easter. I have never brought a fish from pets at home but the advice they give on small animals is alright and they have to go by a check list on their iPad etc but the advice could still be far better than what it is so improvements can be made. Pets at home staff sometimes sell animals of the wrong sex or animals that are sick but that’s down to the staff being incorrectly trained which is sad Pets at home is the only pet store franchise in the UK. All other stores are mostly small independently owned ones and to be honest they are no better than pets at home and are often worst. Some times they provide you with good information however the store is normally dirty, staff are not too Friendly the products are often not suitable for the animals I have been to a store where their treats even had maggots moving around in there. Every pet store has ways they can improve I’m yet to find one that I love because they all have problems. Yes pets at home is not amazing but I’ve worked in two other pets stores and honestly working in one of them was the worst experience of my life and last year it actually got closed down because it was that bad. I could give you a whole list of the good and bad things about pets at home I’ve analysed the entire store and compared it to others. I have basically studied pet store for a year during my course which was an incredible lesson because in the future I hope to own a pet store myself and hopefully avoid making a lot of mistakes so many pet stores are doing so things like sourcing animals from trusted breeders instead of mills, having knowledge on the stock and non live stock I’m selling so that I can give the best advice possible etc etc But honestly if you compare pets at home to pet stores in other countries such a America you will see they are a bit better. For a start they don’t even name their hamster correctly and they sell dogs which is illegal in the UK thank good. But considering that in your opinion pets at home is the worst pet store in the UK what are some good pet store you have been to ? I have been to around 8 - 10 and pets at home is probably 2nd on the list! I wish I had some lovely independent pet stores near me but I’m yet to find one ☺️
@@malicahamilton our pets at home still sells reptiles, maybe just your area? Shauna's pet shop gives out true advice about animal care, especially hamsters , 1fish2fish still advices against test strips too which is great, they advice 30l per Goldfish which is amazing compared to pets at home saying you can out two in 20l or 6 in 90l, I've been wrongfully adviced by pets at home and I have now 6 poor fish in a 90 l tank. I am on the hunt for a 300l tank, yes 300l. Goldfish are messy and grow huge. They say black moors grow 15 cm which is wrong , they grow atleast 30cm, if you go to 1fish2fish their fish are not inbred and can survive alot more then a pets at home goldfish, I bought I black moor from pets at home and it brought ich and infected my whole tank, they all survived apart from the black moore, bless him! Thank you for your explanation ❤️😊
@@malicahamilton yes I know but the cage is small. Btw loved your videos. I got a packet and only found out the other day(mabey only 2 a week) love ur chanel though. The cage you said was way to small is the one I keep my 3 robos in. ;-; it's the pink circle ish one...
Hamsters are allowed to live together when they are young before they become territorial. They will be with their siblings in pets at home for a few days because people buy hamsters a lot. They get new hamsters in every week. Even if you get your hamsters from a breeder all the hamsters are kept together for quite a few weeks but of course they are separated by sex. It’s good for them to be with their siblings in the early stages. Hamsters don’t need to be alone as soon as they are born that’s not how it works
It is a little to say to some that they clearly don’t know anything about small animals and hamsters even though that’s what my channel is based around and what I earn a living off with my small animal supplies store Tiny paws & co 😬
Well I’ve had a rabbit and 7 hamster over the last 8 years. A channel based around small animals. I created a online small animal supplies store called Tiny Paws & co in 2016 which I’m now doing full time. I’ve worked in pet shops & vet clinics. I also have a diploma in animal care an management so I clearly don’t know anything about small animals huh ? 😅😂
