PETS I'VE OWNED THAT I'LL NEVER GET AGAIN 

Love that you’re breaking the barrier and talking about how jsut because you researched an animal extensively doesn’t mean you’re completely prepared. Owning a pet in practice is very different and no amount of research can prepare you. Researched all my pets for years, researched dogs the longest but owning my little chihuahua was very different and it took me a long long time to get the hang of it. Got sugar gliders, again, tons of research. Thought I would hate the meal prep aspect but it’s actually my favorite part!

yep that is why I never have went through with getting a pacman frog. I did finally get a tomato frog and literally so so so so happy with him, really recommend them if you're ever tempted to get another frog also, toads lol

Pacman frogs are insanely touchy. I have two now and love them a lot but they take forever to grow, can be insanely picky food wise, can stress and die so easily... I'm so sorry for your loss, but you're right, it's not uncommon for them to just die out of nowhere.

Not gonna lie I came into this video thinking you were going to say how you hate cats and guinea pigs but i was quite impressed when you had appropriate reasons and were very honest and didn’t show any hate towards the animal, loved the video keep doing what your doing 👍🏻

I didn’t technically own this pet (it was a preschool class pet, my preschool was very good with pets we had a hamster who was very old when we got him and my class realized that and he stayed with the principal so he wouldn’t get to stressed out. He had maybe a 90 gallon tank? It was HUGE) it was a Betta fish named Scuba Flipper, whom I named and therefore got to take home and take home and take care of for a whole week. Keep in mind I had 2 cats. The fish did very well at my house and was active and was surprisingly not scared of the cats! But the moment we took him back he got sick fast! He only lived for 2 weeks, I was the only who got to take him home. I felt SO bad for SO long because I thought I had killed him. But it turns out, it was the teachers fault!! They hadn’t let the tank cycle!

When I was a little kid we got goldfish. One day I was to quiet in my room and my mom came into my room to see me “fishing” for my fish in the tank with a pencil.....the fish were relocated to the kitchen counter after that lol

I have to agree on the guinea pig part. I have a herd of 7 sows, they're cage is a giant c and c that takes up 75% of my dining room. But because of how big it is, and me not using fleece (I just don't like it) the biggest cost is there bedding. I love my girls and I'll NEVER abandon them, but I don't think I'd have them again, or at least no more than 3 or 2 at a time. They're so much work and regardless of the amount of time spent one on one or in a group with my girls, let's be honest 5 of 7 only use me for fresh veggies, they just don't care about me without peppers in my hands. I love them irregardless of that though. They're my girls, my herd and they're my absolute favorite pets I've ever had. I do think after my pigs pass I'd either go with an older tortoise or a pair of ferrets, after extensive research of course.

My son (4yo) wants a bunny or a hamster or even a bird, and I keep telling him we can't. We have a cat who is a mouser and want to get at least one dog (we live in the country). We do plan to get him a tortoise in the future, and we just got a 25 gallon tank with a bunch of mollies and platys (our neighbour didn't want his fish anymore and gave us all his fish stuff; he gave us a 20 gallon long tank a few months ago with reptile stuff like a heat lamp and a hide). I also have four guinea pigs and run a rescue, and have three fosters right now (so seven piggies). Since we live in the country, we may eventually do rabbits as livestock, but they'll live outdoors and in a barn. We are planning to get chickens next year. We also have a dugout that doesn't hold water, and we plan to seal up the bottom and then turn it into a pond. We'll do koi in the pond and probably get geese, which will eat grass and enjoy the pond. We want our dog to be an English mastiff, and then I would like to start taking in giant breed dogs. I love huge dogs. And that's the main reason why a bunny is not going to happen. A bunny would need to be free to roam the house, and it wouldn't be safe from the dogs or the cat. A hamster would escape and be eaten by one of the predators. The guinea pigs only have floor time when they are being supervised, and I will be sure to keep the dogs locked out of the room during floor time. I had both guinea pigs and dogs when I was a kid, so that's something I'm used to. (Cats are often confused and/or afraid when it comes to guinea pigs, and again I supervise closely.) Hm. Maybe I should start a pet channel.

I own 2 guinea pigs well actually 1 guinea pig and 1 skinny pig but they are very dirty as they poop a lot but I think they are worth it since they are so cute and such great campanions

Guinea pigs are great first pets! I recommend them to anyone who is looking for a pet to keep that’s not hard as a cat or dog. They are super sweet and hardly ever bite or scratch. They do need a friend though as they are social animals. A big cage, food and water like any other pet, toys, hides, tunnels and bedding. :)

I agree with you about the guinea pigs, even with how much I love my two boy pigs. I use fleece bedding cause I don’t want to spend so much money on bedding but oh my gosh, I hate maintaining it. It’s just so much cleaning and they trigger my allergies and asthma so badly. I love them both very very much but I also haven’t been able to bond with them super well. So I don’t think I will get another in the future either. I however love my rabbits and will always has one. My rabbits are my babies and I have such amazing relationships with all of them. They are all litter trained and so much easier to maintain for me.

Im in the same boat i had guinea pigs when i was a teenager and i took care of them everyday by spot cleaning and everything but now i would not get them again as there were so much work and i don't have time to clean and make sure there cared for as they should be.

I had a chinchilla and I would NEVER get again they are extremely delicate and high maintenance

I had a goldfish too. In a 20 gallon. With other fish. Even Angels at one point. What was I thinking? Somehow I rarely had deaths and I had my goldfish for around 4 or 5 years. I feel so bad looking back now but we have all been there.

I don't think I will ever own Hamsters again. I wonder what kind of pet you will get next?

My dogs and cats are great friends but I have to seperate all the cats stuff in another room because the dogs eat their food and eat out of the litter boxes. I agree with the rabbits though, I'm very hesitant on all small animals because my cats and dogs have pretty high prey drives.

I feel you about owning guinea pigs I’ve had like 4. But I don’t think I’ll ever get anymore. They cute and everything but they a handful and messy. And yea rabbits are just horrible they messy and very destructive I had two but after few months rehomed them

I love this because most of what you mentioned is the same for me! I had guinea pigs and they require sooo much and I ended up being allergic to hay that they have to have. I had hermit crabs as a child, and yes nope never again. Fish nope not my cup of tea. I also would never own a hedgehog. I also think I would never own a bearded dragon as well. I looove Pac man frogs so even when Forest die I will get another one lol. To me, Fiona lived a long time so you took great care of her. I wonder would you ever own a tenrec? I looove them!

I got a baby pacman frog 4 days ago and it died two days ago. The reptile shop said they have no guarantee on their amphibians but they realized that they had messed up and long story short I now have a adorable healthy baby pacman frog.

I have 2 guinea pigs and I love them so much ❤️ but they are a lot of work for sure

In high school biology class we had a project where we had to keep a betta alive. And bring it in to class to show they're alive. What a horrible project. I liked my Betta but God I had such horrible care! Really kept it in a tiny as seen on tv basically pitcher with a spout for "easy water changes" That Betta lived 4 years. 4 years in that heck. For a dumb high school project. I tried to keep it alive but that's basically it. It had a horrible life. Can't imagine what happened to everyone else's Betta. Only 1 person in the whole class had a decent tank at 10 gallons.

Ohh, sorry to hear you didn't warm up to guinea pigs! I have two males and love them so much; one is more interactive than the other but I can take them out daily and they love getting treats and veggies🐾 I also have a 16 year old Lhasa shitz dog, Ringo.. A long haired female rescue cat named Gloria (who's so sweet!), and a Syrian hamster named Ozzie, who's a male.. Charlotte my black female hamster had rumors and I had to put her to sleep a few months ago - but she lived about 2 1/2 years! And I learned most of their care from getting hooked on your channel! Thanks! One pet I wouldn't own again are Betta fish! They're pretty but are a lot of work for me.. Don't totally understand why my last male fish died after two years - so until I figure that out I won't be getting another; they can get bacterial infections if you don't clean their tanks properly! They are pretty though and interactive! Love your videos Terra!!

My Guinea pig Gilbert is he light of my life. When he was a baby he would nap in bed with me. He always climbs up on my lap or calls asleep against my neck🥺 he lets me kiss his nose but if he could he would eat every hair on my head 🙄 he has a huge cage and his old lady neighbor Tina. He loves cookies and tomatoes

I had a red eared slider turtle but dont want another. I like turtles but I didn't feel I provided good husbandry for Miles. My dog Mikey is more than likely my last dog due to my health, and my work. I may get a dog when I retire someday but for.now I have 3 Guinea pigs, a chihuahua, and betta.

cats are the BEST. i love dogs, however, i dont plan on having any... they are TOO much for me and i just love the way cats are, more calm. im not a big fan of barking and loud animals

I'm currently upgrading my hamster into a bin cage from a tiny tales cage. I'm trying to drill air holes and it took five minutes to do one😂 wish me luck.

I murdered my 2 goldfish by accidentally boiling them. Let me explain, I took them out and put them in a little cup, then I put extremely hot water in the tank. My mom asked me to take out the trash, so I did then came back to finish the tank. I neglected to dump out said super hot water and merely dumped the poor things in, both died in under 10secs......rest in peace angel and slipperz

I would prefer to never have to bond two small animals again. After half failing to bond my rabbits and four female mice, I've had about enough of the drama. The mice fighting was so stressful. Since they passed I have gotten another mouse, but just one single male in his big ol' cage. No drama there. Likewise, living with two rabbits that like to live beside eachother but not with eachother is a real pain at times, and having them together but only half bonded was just the worst. I would totally have rabbits again but preferably only if they are already bonded or certifiably unbondable. I would also maybe not have fish again. I like fish, but they don't hold my interest and I don't enjoy their care. I find aquatic snails to be more interesting.

I should say I like the "pets" I have had currently. Haha To me, having a "pet" or any living creatures means observation and a part of multi-tasking. Sigh. I can't tell which one is better or best for me besides I'm not allowed to have any pets in my apartment or anywhere I have lived which is extremely common and normal, actually.

Goldfish need 20 gallons for fancy and 30 gallons for comets for EACH fish, no more than a 2 degree temp. change in 24 hours, and use a filter than has twice the turnover rate stated necessary for tank size; you need to use a 40 gallon filter for 20 gallon tank, etc. It's just that nobody thinks the tank size is necessary and then get mad when their fish dies or thinks 3 years is a valid lifespan. Goldfish lifespan should be average 20 years. They are really easy if you just use proper tank size per fish and proper filter rate. Don't be cheap and expect a GOLDfish experience.

Let's see, I have had cats, dogs, guinea pigs, snakes (4 breeds), various types of fish (bettas, cichlids, oscars, salt water, tropical), sugar gliders, hamsters, a rat, mice, hermit crabs and a tree frog. I think that's all I have had that I can remember. Right now I have a treefrog that I almost stepped on while getting out of my car and a male butterfly betta named Murphy. My son wanted Murphy. He just saw Murphy and had to have him and I've always had really good luck with bettas. One of the ones I had named Murphy from before lived to be about 7 years old. Anyway, I think the most difficult pets I had were the sugar gliders.

I have owned a number of pets over the years: Cats, dogs,birds, reptiles, fish, hamsters and amphibians. I loved and cared for all of them but the only ones I would consider owning again are birds, hamsters and fish simply because I can still meet their needs after all these years. I didn't like the shedding, litter box duties and counter jumping of cats. The barking and demands of dogs. The keeping of live prey to feed the reptiles and amphibians so I can totally understand where you're coming from.

I cannot agree with you more on the guinea pigs. I have a 6 month old puppy and a cat and the Guinea pigs and BY FAR more work than the cat and dog are COMBINED! Also, the pay off isnt really worth all the work. I dont understand how these are marketed as low maintenance bc they certainly are not

I have 3 healthy hermit crabs that have lived for a long time. I’m getting 2 guinea pigs in a month and I’ve owned 2 others in my lifetime. Between the two I will never get another set of hermit crabs. There’s nothing wrong with them they’re just very fickle and a little boring...

Everyone has their own experience with which animals are better for them. I personally don't consider Guinea pigs too much work, but that's probably because all rodents are the best animals for me. Well rodents and cats. You have to take care of animals that are best for you. That is not a bad thing. :)

Guinea pigs are SOOO MUCH WORK, but I love them so much. I have 2, 3 cats and a dog. I love my cats and dog, but after they are gone I won’t be getting anymore. I realize I prefer rodents; I love all my pets but I won’t be getting cats or a dog again.

Urgh, cats. I've had two, and one of them was an absolutely adorable foster kitty with the most perfect personality. If I could have kept her at the time, I definitely would have. Getting a cat as awesome as that was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity though, and other cats are just not worth the trouble with the litter box. The cat litter gets stuck between their toes, and then they spread it all over the house. Unlike dogs, cats can't even be trained to stay off furniture reliably, so yuck. The only thing that would make having a cat again okay, would be if I could have an outdoor enclosure for the cat to do its business in, but those things are EXPENSIVE if you want a decently sized one that actually connects to the house, so the cat can go outside whenever it needs to. Litter boxes for rodents and rabbits aren't as bad, because their poo is nice and compact. Carnivore poop indoors though? No thanks, just not worth it.
