I love Petula, I still have a couple of her albums from back then. She also was the female lead in the movie musical "FINIAN'S RAINBOW," with Fred Astaire, and Tommy Steele. GREAT and fun movie. She ALSO was the female lead in the musical version of the movie "GOODBY MR. CHIPS" with Peter O'Toole who plays Mr. Chips ( a teacher at an all boys British school) I LOVE that movie, it is very touching and poignant. I think you would REALLY like that movie. She is fabulous in both films.

I like Petula. "You're The One" "Call Me" "My Love" are hits in addition to those mentioned, by others.

If you can PLEASE react to her song "I KNOW A PLACE" One of my favorites of hers. Always thought the song was referring to the CAVERN in Liverpool, where the Beatles played 292 times before they became famous (the DID play there one more time after the had recorded their first album...there is a video of THAT performance. The way the song describes "the place" in the song, sort of describes what the Cavern was like ( I went there in 1968)

Thx for nice reaction. I had a little drama with another reaction to this version... its missing the best verse (that includes "listen to the rhythm of the gentle bossa nova") & theres a few tapes like this, but most play it all. Take a full listen if u can!

Petula hit the spotlight at the height of the 60s British Invasion. She idolized the great Dusty Springfield. Petula's other hits are "I Couldn't Live Without Your Love", "I Know a Place", "Don't Sleep in the Subway" and "A Sign of the Times".

Petula had so many hits here in the US. She was one of Karen Carpenters best friends. Since you love Karen you should watch the memorial to Karen at the end of her Royal Albert Hall concert in 1983 just 2 days after Karen's death.
