We finally got our hands on the new 2008: engines similar to other Stellantis cars and a great look. But this time the French lion becomes silent: in this test we tested the e-2008, the electric variant of the futuristic SUV. The line and proportions of the e-2008 are the same shared with the thermal variants, the same story for the dimensions: 4.30 meters long, 1.77 meters wide and 1.53 meters high. The main aesthetic difference that characterizes the electric 2008 is the grille painted in the body color, unfortunately hidden by the Black Pearl of our configuration, optional from € 700: numerous horizontal elements rejoin the 3-scratch Full LED headlights with the characteristic lower tusk , very scenic even during the day. Michelin 215/55 tires surround the 18 "two-tone alloy wheels with aluminum and dark gray effect with a wider surface, which allows for better air resistance and consequent energy savings. Apart from the "e" identification badge of the electric, together with the lion enriched by blue, you will have understood that it is visually identical, and does not change even in the rear, where the long glossy black band that incorporates the 3 vertical LED elements headlights is found. and the prominent contrasting bumper in black and gray. Under the tailgate a 434-liter trunk with a high load threshold, like all high-wheeled vehicles, but with an imperceptible step: by folding the rear bench seat into a 60:40 configuration and adapting the loading surface, a surface is reached perfectly flat. Do you remember the 3D TVs a few years ago? Fashion, glasses ... I only remember that they cost a blunder. However, if apparently they have not made it to the market, 3D in cars seems to work, at least in our opinion it works very well in the cockpit of the new 2008. Virtually everything is characterized by three-dimensionality: the multi-level dashboard with the suspended tablet and the double row of piano buttons, the concave carbon look, and above all the instrumentation behind the steering wheel with the two holes that make it look like a steering wheel from the science fiction films of the 90s. And of course Peugeot's 3D i-cockpit. A refined passenger compartment like all the family feeling followed by this 2008, with good quality materials and assemblies, soft plastics in the upper part, and the seats that in the GT Pack tested are in Greval Gray Alcantara and black TEP. Very comfortable and above all decidedly enveloping, they are also air-conditioned. The interior space is sufficient for arms, legs and head, with the seat recessed when compared to the position of the feet on the platform where the batteries are mounted. I expected worse from visibility: lines that dare with a suspended tablet and a large frameless mirror. Instead, from the front you can see everything, thanks to the compact dimensions of the 2008, thanks also to the narrow pillars. Behind the TEP mixed with Alcantara is taken up with blue and acid green stitching that recall the details of the digital instrumentation. There is a lot of living space and entry on board is easy: once inside you are greeted by a pronounced tunnel due to the batteries mounted on the floor which, however, save space in the trunk, and by two USB-A sockets. On-board technology is practically the protagonist in the Peugeot e-2008: in the center of the dashboard, the 10 "connected infotainment touch display gives access to a navigator with 3D maps, smartphone connectivity, DAB radio, Bluetooth and charging parameters. Our advice is to always carry a clean cloth with you because the surfaces of the dashboard and central tunnel in glossy black are beautiful, but between dust and fingerprints they get dirty in an instant. Drivers, on the other hand, have at their disposal the 10 "3D i-cockpit, which is really legible thanks to the simulated three-dimensionality of its elements with a meticulous game of mirrors and projections: the various views are adjusted from the steering wheel, leaving the driver to choose between a minimal format, the availability of cartography or the always ready information on the energy flows of the e-2008.
