Trying to find a brake servo for one now is near impossible and the brake master cylinder isn’t easy to find if you need a 3 pot one.

Bumpers are made of potty plastic, door stopers are usually bad. Rear suspension is often curved so the car looks like squating

Thanks for taking the time to compile this information. Do you think the xu 2.0 16v is better than the EW 2.0 16v due to the oil consumption? Cheers

Hi, my 2L EW drinks two cups of engine oil for every 10000-12000km (over 250000km on the clock, now). Absolutely fine for a multi valve engine. And it is much less thirsty (38 to 44mpg, very gentle drive!) than an XU from what I hear. Choose the car you like and possibly with a solid service history!

Now beware of those EW engines if they sound like they are Diesel!

Is the V6 D8 preferable to the D9?
@Cigaristocat

D9 due to more power. Reliability is the same overall, but ofc, VVT is another thing that might become problematic.

Some prefer the 194cv engine over the 210cv... I personally much prefer the 194cv one because it's more nervous. The other one is more linear... The 194 CV is rock solid too.

@@velcingilles3756 Interesting. What do you mean by 'more nervous'?

@@timjude it's more revvy and has a kick to it whilst the latter engine doesn't give that sensation. If you had a closed air induction kit to the 194cv engine, it does free up the revving a bit and the difference is very noticeable too. I am no chav so don't do mods for street creds, but to enhance an already accomplished vehicle, and the slight mods I did on my coupe V6 really have improved its driveability. (Eibach springs X4, Bilstein shocks X4, braided brake pipes, 18" wheels with good tyres, closed air induction kit, and a custom made stainless exhaust (nothing loud), that's helped free up the air flow a little, without compromising the necessary back pressure... I own various other cars (much faster ones) and the 406 coupe remains my favourite of the lot... That alone speaks volume...

@velcingilles3756 great suggestions. I have the 99 V6 Manual (D8) hence my original query. Some purist old school mechanics seem to prefer the D8 and I was curious as to why. Normally, a later engine is going to be an overall better package. I like your slight mods. Will discuss these with my mechanic when I take the car in for a service. Much appreciated.

So many errors of facts in this video 🥴. When people talk about something, why not do a proper research on it, like speaking to car clubs for example...? The 2.2hdi has 136 bhp to start with... The fuel consumption of the V6 isn't necessarily 10l per 100kms either, I can go as low as 8l depending on how you drive or up to 15l if you put your foot down... I have owned a few of these in the past 19 years (still own one V6, which I've had since Feb 2007) so I know these cars inside out...

do you recommend the v6? whats your thoughts on it after u owned it for so long?
@velcingilles3756
@velcingilles3756 2 месяца назад
@@alexandrudecean8837 I thoroughly recommend the V6. I have various cars, from Audi A6 Avant to BMW X4 3.0i and a Porsche 911 997 c2s and the Peugeot is my favourite one! This should speak volume enough... But...mine isn't standard, I have lowered it by 25min (no need to lower it further, you couldn't drive anywhere otherwise, put a custom stainless exhaust (nothing loud but gives a lovely burble) and is quiet on the motorway, put an air induction kit, changed brake pipes for more reactive breaking (aviation type), Bilstein Shocks and Eibach Spring (-25mm) and 18" wheels... And the rest is standard... It's such a beautiful car to look at and drive. 👌

@@velcingilles3756 wow, thank you for the reply. I love this car, my dad has the 2.0 hdi and I really enjoy driving it. Came to this video after hearing a weird noise from the turbo. But, as I get some money, I really tought about buying another 406, and modify it a bit, like you. just lower a bit, some nice wheels, tint, and an exhaust, better brakes and if I would get the 2.0hdi, maybe the intake and the valve for the turbo sound. But I really think about the v6, as it has such a beautiful noise. Also the power
