Daniel88 yes its common to almost every one. The problem isnt the heat or the screen! Its an issue with the negative earth clamp on the battery not gripping tight enough when the terminal clamp expands. And the earth between the battery terminal to the dashboard earth. The fix is to reaĺy clean the battery negative terminal AND adjust the terminal clap with some pliers so that it grips the terminal extremely hard. And srcondarilly, put an extra earth from the dashboard frame to the body. You can almost use the screen dimming as a battery voltage checker/ earth check. 407's are battery hungry. A new one every 3yrs almost sorts the problem. But it still goes back to the battery terminsl
I got the same replacement display as you and noticed that the CD changer display was missing but this was fixed with PP as it appears that the car's features like bluetooth, parking assist etc have to be enabled on the screen. My screens software is an earlier version v50 something, but I did gain an extra PLIP feature by adding the replacement screen.
Hi Daniel...I bought a 407 a few weeks ago and yes my display is crap too, I don't think I would replace it I would rather buy a whole new car strereo/display...that is if you can still buy car stereos these days. Also I cannot believe how there is no accessories switch on ignition and I had a flat battery the other day and you cannot open the boot. The designers of these features need a good kick in the arse Anyway thanks for the video
Maybe the boot is Permanently Locked from main menu (displayed on the display that i'm talking about ) it's an option *Boot Permanent Locking* . Press MENU button on your stereo , then go to PERSONALISATION-CONFIGURATION , press OK , go to DEFINE VEHICLE PARAMETERS then ACCESS TO THE VEHICLE and Un-check the BOOT PERMANENT LOCKING box . If this is already done , then open from Key Fob remote firstly and after it should work from *0* button (407) After changing the battery , first time when you switch the ignition on you will need to hold down the DOOR LOCK button on your key for for 10 seconds so the car **reads** the central locking . . You will also need to fully open your windows by holding down *window's opening button * until the windows are completely open , and after that close all the windows by holding *window's close button* until the windows are completely closed . do this for all windows preferably 2 at a time . (do this if the windows / boot will not work properly after connecting the battery ) And do not buy another stereo (like the factory fitted) with complete display as it does not worth . These Stereos found on Peugeot's are Coded to work only with the current vehicle that they are fitted on . If you buy another stereo make sure is **decoded** as otherwise you'll have to pay another £40 - £80 for decoding in order to work on your car . Hope it helps . Cheers
Thanks a lot for your very detailed response Daniel. I managed to get back to normal after this: rps-mobile-car-mechanic.co.uk/peugeot-citroen-bsi-reset/ Got the car radio going and windows etc...to be honest I expect electrical problems down the track with this car...I dream of the day I can walk into an Audi dealership and buy a brand new top of the range. We always have to have something to aspire to eh? Anyway good luck to you and keep YouTubing
