Hello Sir, is cracking housing a common issue in 1.6 BlueHDi? I have 2016 P308 120HP and from over a year the coolant is disappearing but only after long trip on motorway or after towing a caravan. I've done head gasket test and blue solution did not change yellow or even green. There are few tiny leak marks on the bottom of thermostat with white salt-like stains. I'll appreciate any response. Thanks.
@@freddybolsoe I found out during the last winter the coolant disappeared even quicker than before. Now the car loses less coolant. The new thermostat is over £200 so I need to find out the issue.
@@scottmckenzie1162 oh you need to take a long ride to make engine properly hot. I've changed the radiator recently and I have to drive 40 mins around local area to make ECU open the thermostat fully and bleed the system.
I’ve just replaced the gasket and it’s all good now. There was a bead of corrosion on the aluminium head side almost all the way round. Buffed it up and fitted a new gasket with some quality sealant. Total cost £8.60 and a few head knocks on the bonnet air box.
My fan has been staying on after the engine is turned off and draining the battery. Could this possibly be the repairs? Anyone heard of these symptoms before?
On turbo cars thats done, so that the engine and turbo don't starve of oil. You should always preheat before driving and not suddenly turn off turbo engines.
