@@wilavg yes and no. the flag did have the communist coat of arms on it between 1948 and 1989, but until then (between 1866 and 1948), the flag was the exact same one we currently have today. so the fact that it was “embellished” for a while because of the communist regime (which you could say was against the will of the people) doesn’t take away from the fact that we’ve officially had that flag for 100 years before Chad.

Felix as a German I feel I have to inform you, that we do learn English since 3rd grade. But mostly old people and Bavariens didn’t learn it because they’re a little more conservative . Especially Bavarians have this individuality complex that they’re better than the rest of Germany. The rest is normal I swear 😂
I've talked to young people with university degrees and they where not the best at english either. And applying to jobs in germany with only english is impossible unlike other european contries, I've tried :/

I mean.. in Croatia (Slavic), atleast in dalmacija, we're sort of forced to learn English due to being a tourist hot spot. Germany only recently had their newest generations learn English

I feel like in comparison to other european states germany definetely has a low amount of english speakers. Even though in the cities most of the people are fluid, as soon as you look at the countryside the numbers are way lower.

Sorry pewds but you were wrong there. In Australia we learn German and in Germany they learn English. They have exchanges every year. My former school even had two sister schools in Germany where we would swap exchange students every year to test our knowledge on English and German.

Australia is in my tops. Definitely above USA. USA is like my least favourite of the "civilised" countries. I mean, It prides in being "the land of the free", progressive and liberating, yet it fails even in that category. At least in comparison to most western European countries, like let's say Germany. Many countries teach English early too tho, and compared to some of them, Germany isn't as good, considering Sweden is just behind Netherlands in terms of number of English speakers, it makes sense, Germany is ranked 8th in Europe for English

I think he got them two mixed up. Theres no way you get through german school without at the very least 5 years of english, but depending on the diploma your going for it can be up to 10 Years. The only slight exception are states near france, where you can opt to learn french as your first foreign language. Most people so manage to learn english to a passable level at least.
