I listened to this on a bus going from Taipei to Tainan in Taiwan. Watching the sunset and listening to you Ethan talking about facing challenges really moved me. I’ve been struggling with some of my choices lately but I’ve been turning over some great leaves in my life. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, it really spoke to me

Hearing you talk about your anxiety was inspirational or motivating. I don’t know what the right word is, but I’ve been struggling with a severe anxiety disorder and ptsd that was a result of watching my sister suffer anxiety and depression to the point that she never left the room and lost her job and was drunk all the time. We had moved out for the first time when it happened, with roommates, and I had to struggle to pay both our bills and try to figure out how to help her and appear normal to everyone. Nobody knew what was happening except me, and it was a huge burden to bear. It’s was such a horrifyingly stressful time for us both. Looking back makes me sad. We’re both on the path to recovery thankfully. I think it’s just comforting in a weird way to know that it’s not totally abnormal to go through that. I wish more people would talk about their experiences. I wouldn’t have been so confused and afraid of what was happening. Hearing that you pushed past it and your life has progressed positively is inspiring me that one day maybe I’ll get past my fears and insecurities and hopefully be confident to find love (30 year old virgin over here) and fulfill my dreams. I’m a new fan of yours, love your podcast. And to anyone reading this that is going through similar things, you are not alone. ❤️

Your story really touched me. Indeed going outside ur comfortzone (also talking about things you hid i ), Really helps. I have a social fobia and panic and was depressed and some other shit. Ethan what you said is really inspiring for me. Stepping outside ur comfortzone is really key to get mentally les sick and worked for me. Even standing in line at the supermarket was hell on earth. I struggle with really severe anxiety as well, to a point where it keeps me from doing a lot that I wish I could do, and hearing you talk about it and the importance of pushing outside of the anxiety and your discomfort, was something I needed to hear now more than ever as I get ready to go to college. thank you so much for that.

I've been in this kind of situation before too. The social anxiety wasn't that bad for me, but I was borderline depressive, barely getting out of house and my communication with people resumed on talking online with, what were most of the time strangers (cause that was way more comfortable). Long story short, I've started talking with this girl which, eventually, through make struggles i've made the courage to fly to and met. We've been together for more than 4 years now, living together. Being with someone also helped me being more of an extroverted person, to a point where I can't click with my old self at all. So, as Ethan said, just go through that struggle cause it's worth it.
