Straight up bada - -. Boz was one tough dude. I loved watching and cheering for him, even though as a New Englander I was raised a Patriots fan. Boz exemplified the 1980’s showboat mentality along with players like Mcmahon, the Fridge Perry, and Bo Jackson. Those were great times, when the players wore big shoulder pads, loose jerseys, and actually were able to make big hits on the football field. I loved how Boz had a swagger and a smile at the same time. Long live The Boz!!!

I was a student at OU in the middle 1980s when Bosworth was on the team. A lot of people don’t realize that when the Boz was at OU, the roster was one the greatest ever assembled at the college D1 level going 33-3 with a National Championship (‘85) - played for two (2). All 3 losses were to the Miami Hurricanes, one of the games in which Boz’s initial shoulder injury occurred - which would ultimately seal his NFL fate in a few short years ahead. The Boz truly was a great LB in every sense of the word. The guy could run a 4.5 in pads. He was far more dominant in college at OU than Derrick Thomas (HOF - KC Chiefs) was at Alabama. Also, he got off to a similar start in the NFL toThomas’ (started as rookie - good stats). Problem was, Boz had damaged his shoulder at OU in the Miami game. All of the insiders knew that there was a big chance (based upon his attacking style of play) he would not survive in the NFL - and it happened (his shoulder failed).,

The Boz was ahead of his time. If you were a teenage boy piayng football in the mid to late 80’s , you idolized Bosworth, there had had never been anything like him before. Say what you want about his NFL career, the guy is probably the greatest college football linebacker in history and is still the only 2 time Butkus award winner. Anyone who’s ever played football, knows the Jackson incident isn’t a big deal. They talk about it like Bo trucked him and he did not, Bo had the angle and momentum to break the plane of the end zone.

@lrvracer3515 28 дней назад
You are correct about the Bo touchdown run. The other Seahawk linebacker had missed his assigned gap and Boz was sliding over to cover. The game announcers didn’t mention it, Boz never spoke about, and the general public never understood what really happened on that play.

Since the NFL doesn't allow performance enhancing drugs (steroids), Bosworth had a short career. He was busted in college for using them, and when he couldn't continue in the NFL, his career was short lived.

I cant begin to tell you how much I love this! I was born in 1987, so too young to watch THE BOSS. Based on NFL highlights I grew up on, his reputation was sewed as a fraud because Jackson showed him up on Monday night football and he had a short career. I idolized Zack Thomas and ALL the badass linebackers in NFL history but didn't have a good appreciation for THE BOZZ until seeing this. America needs more of this, keep it going!

I wished when I was a kid my eyes opened and understood that he was way ahead of his time . In buisness he knew how to market his brand👍and when he called out the NCAA (so true! Worst today) the saving grace I think for him was that he took and gave hits in the NFL for one year avoiding hopefully CTE👍

Dude is doing well as the “Sheriff of Fansville” in the Dr. Pepper college football ad campaign. Once said of UCLA in a Sports Illustrated article “At least we (Oklahoma) don’t play in PASTELS.” The ‘80s definitely had their moments.

I wish Payton would do a doc on the entire 86-89 Oklahoma teams, The Boz, the birth of the run option with the black quarterbacks and the scandals with their quarterbacks. Also, the BOZ was a tackling machine and doesn't get credit.. He was that guy and part of the reason you see College Athletes promoting them selves... it was just Deon Sanders.. it was the him and the BOZ. Check your history.

I remember when #55 was the number that was the most popular when I was in high school. I was the backup to our #55 I was #60. #55 became our classes best linebacker my sophomore year. He was all conference on offense and defense for four years. That why I was always his backup.
