Original air date: November 9, 1966 on ABC. Hannah's not happy to see the new portrait of Catherine....Connie receives another prank call about Allison....
I always knew, from the first episode with Eili, that Eli was a kind, caring man. And I really like how he treats everyone, including Rachel and even the stray dog that someone so cruelly and cavalierly abandoned. Martin is cruel. Rodney is arrogant. Sandy is a louse.
Great episode. Leslie Harrington returns, hooray!! I feel so sorry for Rachel & her plight. Rodney's behavior toward her abyssmal; in contrast, Eli's so kind & gentle. Situation in police-station re: Rachel just horrendous. I wanted to cry! Eli understandably crushed over this. Stirring, compelling tension in scene between Eli & Elliott in newspaper-office. Ms. Malone quite-fetching in that soft-blue outfit she wears. At first, I really thought that was Allison/Mia on the phone with her but knew it couldn't be, making for an emotional moment of great hope followed by disappointment. Nice to see Sandy, though she's not so nice toward Betty. I think Ms. Webber, Sandy, is up-to-something devious. As for Hannah & Martin, I'm continually confused now by their conversations & secrets. I really can't follow or comprehend this side of the story anymore, as I've long-since become exhausted by it. Wonderful to see Leslie again, though far too briefly!
The way Dr. Rossi responded to Martin Peyton, "Drop dead." Was not reallly supplying the definition to, "Check out." And Martin Payton's face! Another time Martin Peyton is at a loss for words! Rolling on the floor laughing!
What I do not understand is how Hannah allowed Martin Peyton to cover his daughter lie as Steven and Ann are Catherine,s children What could he possibly have offered her to save the Peyton name and humiliation (back then illegitimate children) and Hannah to adopt Steven and live on in the house. Makes no sense.
Maybe to keep the whole scandal about Catherine quiet. Hannah is and always was cold, unfeeling and never loved her husband. From what i gather she's always loved Martin and hoped for a life with him. Plus shes a power hungry, greedy woman.
When Hannah kicked her husband out, she had no means of support. Martin Peyton offered to give her a home and a very well-paid job if she would keep quiet about Catherine. She was hoping for more, but Catherine wouldn't allow it. So, she stayed on as Peyton's housekeeper/confidant. All went according to plan until Ann showed up in Peyton Place.
