Yes, she loves him very much. When people say she didn't love him enough, they need to remember all the times she stood by him. Remember the night he came home drunk and ranted about wanting to destroy Martin Peyton. She was right there, holding him and comforting him. She defended him against Leslie during the trial when Leslie was berating him. She stood by him when he said they needed to give up that house. Then...remember that smile when she saw him coming back after being gone all night. There will be many other instances of her standing by him to come. Oh, she loved him alright. Anyone who doesn't see that doesn't want to see it.
Martin seems pitiful in his scene with Rodney. He's surprisingly soft, with a mixture of sorrow and shame. I believe he really loves Rodney and he's his favorite, which I always thought was odd since he was Leslie's favorite and Norman was Catherine's. There's a part of me that wants Rod to go easy on him, but I know Martin gets what he deserves. You don't play God with people's lives like that and get away with it.
Betty's moods are giving me whiplash. It wasn't that long ago when she wasn't sure she even really liked Stephen. Now she's head over heels in love??? Love is cheap in Peyton Place.
Martin Peyton has a certain amount of self awareness which many narcissistic parent don't . They would use their kids transgressions to get sympathy and attention for themselves instead of protecting their reputation and maybe counselling them to be better. And yeah..where is Mama Peyton?
Rodney's high waisted pants remind me of the way my mother use to pull up pants after a kid went to the bathroom, was getting dress or after a diaper change. Or anytime she was pulling up someone's pants.
Who forgot to even the footrests on the wheelchair?Martin walks with canes, uses powered whellchair, yet he kneels to stir the fire. When he ever asked Betty if she could give a hypodermic,we talking Lasix or morphine or Demerol,or cocaine?
"retha1875," Sounding a tad English: "Me thinks you have succumbed" more to a perceived similarity to their three word names more so than anything else. Their "Peyton Place" era, mid-late 1960s faces and shapes -- Lesley's big eyes do not show their true beauty unless enhanced with make-up. Leigh's appear naturally enhanced; big and beautiful. Leigh has a slightly better complexion and definitely better skin tone for a day at the beach -- with sun screen -- resulting in a fetching tan. Lesley outdoors should limit exposure to 15 minutes with her freckled, light complexion. In bust size Lesley trumps Leigh. But overall figure, proportionately . . . Leigh comes out on top. Definitely with better legs. Lesley's voice sounds a bit more mature. But both voices are pleasing; ultra feminine. Lesley's smile sometimes appears crooked, off-center. Leigh's is more natural and pleasing to the eye. Guys would rate Leigh's fuller lips more 'kissable' than Lesley's. Hair: both brownish, though Lesley's can sometimes have a reddish tint. Leigh's hair photographs silky smooth; Lesley's looks nice, but hardly silky smooth. Lesley has a higher forehead / hair line, which is not as flattering as Leigh's more natural one.. Again, limiting this side-by-side's time frame to nearly 60 years ago, both women are definitely attractive; fetching, sexy, pretty, but neither over-the-top beautiful. Lesley wins the contentious age / eternal youth qualification by over a year and a half: Lesley b. 8/'46; Leigh 1/'45. IMO more movie and TV fans would conjure a comparison / non-comparison with Lana Turner and Betty Grable; Claudia Cardinale and Senta Berger than Leigh Taylor-Young and Lesley Ann Warren.
Got to give it to Mr. Peyton, at least he didn't abandon Steven and Ann to a foster home but made sure they were well taken care of even under the circumstances that they were taken care of by Hannah and Brian Cord .
After the revelation that Catherine Peyton is the mother of both STEVEN CORD & ANN COLBY HOWARD (twins). Now I can see the facial resemblance esp in the EYES of Ann Howard's face. So one twin, is dark, like father like son and the other twin (ANN) is fair like the mother. Oh what a tangled web they wove all those year! Just imagine the emotional & mental anguish Martin & Hannah struggled with, especially STEVEN not ever knowing WHO his true parents were! Do real people actually live like this?
Who wants to “live” in a hospital? I understand that she has been through Hell living with Chandler, so I see her secure feeling staying in the hospital. However, if she was being charged by the day, she wouldn’t want to live there.
Rachael(Leigh Taylor Young)Was Beautiful. And as Beautiful when she played kmberly Crider on Dallas she beat several actresses including Farrah Fawcett for that role
"richardmartell4845," That's essentially what Mia Farrow did with new lover and soon-to-be husband, Frank Sinatra. And "Peyton Place" was NEVER the same; an agonizingly, S L O W , three-year, death spiral. "I wish" -- many would say / dream -- "that Mia and Frank had never met. OR Frank came to his senses and said, 'Ava Gardner, HOT as a pistol, FULL-figured, voluptuous, beautiful -- nearly every man's dream -- was for awhile my wife. And now I'm supposedly ga-ga over this toothpick with a boy's haircut?!"
Normal! & Rita are a pair of crashing bores. I can't believe they survived till the end. Can't stand it when they are on screen. Can't believe how they terrorised Rachel when they first found her.
