I don't know, Garcia had a pretty similar 1st FULL year as a starter to Love. 4,278 yds with 31 TD's vs 10 INT's plus ran for 414 yds. And that was in 16 games, not 17. And to top it off, they went 12-4 with him. So imagine the Niners making him the highest paid QB after that year.

Bill's fan here. Stats don't mean much when you can't win games against winning teams. Any decent defensive team can render him harmless. This means that I hope he stays in Miami for a very long time!

Takes like this is why NFL fans are on the couch. By that logic I guess the chiefs were idiots for not signing Mahomes to a 20yr 1 billion dollar deal his rookie year. That 10yr deal was just so short sighted

My point was not that they were idiots to draft him, or that they have not drafted QB's well (although they didn't draft Farve, they got him via trade), my point is that they traded up for Love so they could have him for 5 years before having to negotiate, and then they gave up that 5th year option. That's the idiotic thing they did. And it's not like this hasn't happen before. At least one other team hit on 3 QB's in a row (again, not all drafted by them) and that 3rd QB in his 1st FULL year as a starter went 12-4, threw for 4,278 yds with 31 TD's vs 10 INT's plus ran for 414 yds. And that was in 16 games, not 17. All those numbers are as good or better that Love's first full year as a starter, except he didn't go a mere 9-8. He went 12-4. And that team had won 5 Super Bowls with their first 2 QB's they hit on, not a mere 2. Now imagine if that team had made that 3rd QB the highest paid player in league history and taken up nearly a quarter of their cap. Instead, they waited another year and realized he wasn't as good as the first 2. That's all I'm saying. The Packers could have had another year to see if their 3rd QB is truly as good as their first 2. But they gave that away. And that's the idiotic thing I'm reffering to.

Patrick Mahomes didn't even play in his rookie year except for their last game after they had clinched the playoffs with Alex Smith as their QB. In his second year, he threw for over 5,000 yards and 50 TD's vs 12 INT's, went 12-4, took them to the AFC championship game, and won the league MVP. In his third year in the league, he took them all they way to the Super Bowl and won it. THAT'S when they gave him that huge deal. NOT after a 9-8 season and a win versus an overrated, playoff-choking team whose QB threw back to back picks including a pick six in the first half. Perhaps you're a Donald Trump disciple and expect everyone to be like his MAGA idiots who don't fact check a single thing.

u should be banned for this kind of dumb comment. jordan became the starter last year. first half the coaches just managed him. 2nd half the coaches said ok, screw it the training wheels. jordan was the best qb in the nfl 2nd half. he got clearly the better upside and physical ability. tua is a system qb. if it get ugly, extreme weather, he doesnt have the arm and supreme ability to overcome that. all nice flashy stats with mcdaniels and the most electric duo of wrs.
