Some of these comments are wack, this info was really helpful. A few calibrations later and using the timing strategy in the video, I’m absolutely crushing the ball straight down the middle
I understand what you are saying; and always do what works best. Everybody will find their own method, but the margins are so small, a perfect can soon become a fast / slow, or worse with little difference in feeling. I personally use the small window right after the vibration to determine my downswing. Nothing else matters other that not losing consistency with the completion of the downswing, but my sole focus is maximising distance control and therefore sacrificing forgiveness / swing plane, where I already feel pretty confident. Having a bigger window at the top of the backswing is massive for me; and makes a huge difference when it comes to hitting perfect shots.
Chiping in the game is the same on a real coarse DON'T CHOOSE the highest lofted club subject to how far you want the ball to roll out, and play a chip with shaft lean by deloft the club, for much longer chip use up to a 5i as the 5i will roll out much further than a pitch wedge, its really important you select your landing spot depending on the loft of the club your useing, so for me a 30ft chip i probably would use a pitch wedge to 8i depending on slope and speed of the green!!!! 5i 60ft chip land on the edge of the the green (fringe or light ruff) let role upto the hole
I tried this method after getting more and more frustrated. Before I tried it, Round 1 was +5, I then watched your video after searching for some guidance, Round 2 I got -7. So thanks alot man!
I'll give it a shot, but I think the key is finding the difficulty level that works best for you, practicing and playing, and moving up as you improve. Kind of like real golf :-)
Ok so I've tried this on practice and so far it's made me more consistent, I am very inconsistent and now it's more consistent, I literally just like you said focus on the bar I look at nothing else lol
Yesterday I changed from Amateur to Pro settings on my swing as it felt stupid shooting -10 or better all the time. This should really help me Early, thank you! Also, I should say now that the Olympia Fields course you played there was crappy autogen...
I have calibrated a few times now but continue to consistently hit it slow on Pro settings, occasionally red slow and very slow. I basically have started playing always aiming left to deal with my perpetual slow swing speed. I'm going to give your tip in this a go and see how I go - thanks for posting this tip.
I was under the impression the bar shrinking was purely to do with going over 100% and then getting an accuracy margin or error penalization for it. I haven't personally felt a link with it actively giving me fasts or slows (as in moving my marker further astray). Seems a bit odd to work that way, I mean it's just a theory after all based on anecdotal evidence. (Edit) - I think this game is just so sensitive that it will cause people to come up with theories based on what they think or felt was correlating in a specific round, when in reality it may not work that way. But... it could also be correct.
Yh that's correct the bar shrinks as soon as you enter over swing I feel like the tempo has changed on PS4 since yesterday's update, the swing I was uning for the 1st week now gives fast all the time
Yes you're basically right, waiting till the bar shrinks does mean you are in overswing and will lose a little bit of forgiveness. But if your tempo is generally on point, you can use this method to almost always get a 101%. Also, for those who use the swing when it rumbles method, this is more noticeable and can help you dial in when to time the start of your downswing especially when learning the timing for partial shots. I think this method is great for learning. Just might suffer a little on those shots where you might wanna hit a shot at a lower % than what the game will let you aim to. Also may want to phase out of it later on when you move up to master/legend difficulty and +distance / -forgiveness clubs where you don't wanna sacrifice even that tiny bit of forgiveness from overswings.
That's pretty much what I've been trying to do but I think it's more about the stick speed because ya can still manage to get fasts, slows and perfects if ya hold the stick at the top of the swing for a few secs. And it takes a bit of power off if ya wanna hit a 95%er. I'll have to play with it some more. Now they've updated it again it might be more consistent. They've fixed the putting glitch anyway :-)
I really don’t get why some societys tend to remove the swinging-meter function, it’s just turn the entire game into a frustrating experience. It’s a strategy behind the bar, especially while putting! The society should match people with simular drivers too, loosing with 40 strokes with a leader who always lands at least 150m ahead of you is nothing else but unfair!
As a society president it's tough to get a setting that will accommodate everyone. As you said the gulf between casual players and the competitive players is massive. I'd suggest finding a society that has the settings you are looking for. Failing that try and practice with the swing meter off.
Hi again Lee, I tried it and it didnt make any difference really, I just found it a distraction. The white area on the top bar is really just the tempo & overswing bar. If you get the tempo right and hit the power exactly 100% then you'll be in that small white area ( which decreases in size as you go up the difficulty levels). If you overswing, say go to 103% power, then that white area decreases in size, therefore making it more difficult to get the "perfect" tempo. If your tempo is out it doesnt matter how big that white area is, you're going to hook or slice. When you see that white area just go fractionally smaller, it indicates you are at 100% power - thats all. It has nothing to do with tempo - however if you can make it work for you, then great. I just gave up and modified my game play to adapt to fast swing. Aim shorter and right and I've pretty much got it down now. Hitting near par, I think -4 was my best run yet.
Online Pro Swing is broken, there’s 0 consistency, and the ball is magnetized to the Bunker. Also when I compensate and aim in the trees... that’s the EXACT moment I get a perfect swing. The game feels like your score is forced.
I'm glad someone else said it. I feel I have the same rhythm everytime, but a different result. And whatever side the bunker is on, that's the side it makes me hit. Also swing speed shouldn't determine a slice or hook anyway. I can still hit the ball straight with a slow swing. That should be determined by the swing path

Interesting. Probably of use at the beginning. I played with shot feedback switched off in TGC2019. I aim to do that with 2k21. I also don't play with the vibration. It's too distracting for me personally. I feel as though I'm chasing the vibration, rather than looking at where I'm supposed to be going. Just one big adventure for me. Trying to feel my way around. Getting roughly 90% perfects at the moment.
@@HomageProductions Yeah I'd be around 90% on Pro-Am....too easy for me. I feel they should put a skill level between Pro and Master personally I mean I don't know why they need Beginner and Amateur , surely only 1 of those is needed.
Take the vibration off. Watch your golfer and at the top of the backswing have the same tempo with your downswing. You'll visually start to see trends. I'm in no way saying I'm good at this game. However, I tried focusing on the bar too much and would shank every shot.
great video. I also miss when you would get within 50 yards or closer, and hit a key to view the pin on the green to see how the shot was going to break. that is now gone. have to hit the tab key 3 times to get a small look ahead. i'm pc, and mouse
I use to flick my swing on pga 2019 on a good new controller first pull back and then flick, this seems harder to achieve on pga 2k21. Also putting I now need to use the power bar in pga 2k21 because in pga 2019 holding back for 1sec for every 10ft does not work. They should have kept using the same format of game mechanics like in the TGC 2 and TGC 2019 and just add the spin, update the grafX, have a real face scan like NBA 2k21 instead of limited faces and few facial hair and hair styles. I'm disappointed with this game. They made it to have too much settings and the worse culprit is that new swing which gets really bad for me once I set to pro, even calibrated. I find setting the swing off on amateur with off back distance control I get pretty much straight bangers like i did in TGC 2019 but feel jipped that it is on a easier level which will be frowned on a online match game. Thank You for your advice so I can come to grips with the reality of pro settings and its challenges...
Yea I fully understand what you are saying. I have sacrificed swing line for swing timing. As slows and fasts on this game are more punished than swing line imo.
I don't think swing timing has anything to do with when that little bar is shrinking though. I've done swings where I just hold my backswing at the top for 10 seconds and then can still get a fast, slow, or perfect swing. I don't get downswing timing at all, it's all over the map. I wish it was more tempo based and about the transition from backswing to downswing but sadly, it seems to have everything to do with how fast you push the thumbstick upward, not when you do it. You can test this by just holding the backswing for an exceedingly long time to neutralize that as a factor, and then if you jerk the thumbstick up as fast and hard as you can you'll get very fast, and if you calmly and lightly push it up you'll get slow. This is a bad decision on their part imo bc that isn't a place where ppl really have a ton of control over the difference. I'd much rather have the timing be about tempo
I fully agree with you pal. The swing timing is so inconsistent in this game. If I was asked to explain how to get a perfect swing I honestly couldn’t explain it. I find it extremely random since the previous update

I am glad I saw this video as it has help a lot from the wild swings I was was having a times. I was trying different ways to figure it out but with little success though.
Its a help to have a mechanism that will indicate the moment to swing forward. I tried to use the rumble in the controller but that is not as consistent for me.
I've tried the calibration but the blue line still goes wild. I look at the bar under the golfer and even when I hit the ball in the right place it goes pretty much straight right and that is on beginner settings. I've seen very fast and very slow shots happen with the blue line still straight. So I don't know how to help this. I'm scoring over +10 on beginner as a result lol.
I think the Fast and Slow has to do with how fast your physically pushing the stick forward on the downswing, not power timing. Calibration didn't do anything for me.. I just modified my game play and adapted a consistent fast downswing to where I expect the flight path to be. I've been quite consistent with the benefit of a couple extra yards. It's difficult with a right to left wind though, because the fast swing negates an intentional fade. You can always intentionally hit slow to fight the right left wind though. one thing i can not stand is the vibrating of the stick on the back swing and down swing when putting it is very distracting to me. i think mainly because i'm used to gauging my back swing to get my distance like we used to on tgc 2019
Early-1981 it was alot easier to gauge your back swing on tgc19 for instance i used to pull my putter back to the front of my back toe and that would roughly putt the ball 5 meters and so on

I've never looked at my controller to swing. I'd suggest hit the range and activate the practice swing and just familiarize yourself with swinging without looking at the controller.
My main complaint with this game is how punishing the rough is...any tips? It will say 75%-80. One time you hit it perfect and it goes past where 100% should be other times it lands short of where 75% was suppose to be.
Anyone know if you can improve attributes and stuff? It’s getting really annoying only being able to drive the ball like 280 yards and having to use hybrids and woods on most par 3s lol
Early-1981 damn i already have the best clubs that are unlocked and have it on the easiest setting and my best score on of a tour so far is even par 😂 games fun but so frustrating.
They need to patch the swing let’s face it! The timing has way too much influence on hook and slice. I’m not a pro golfer but I don’t even have this much trouble getting a real ball in the fairway!

Hi, really struggling with the timing playing on Master settings, just had +46 on a 2 round placement play in a society,absolutley dreadful. I am intending to stick with the Master setting b ut the frustration is awful, looking at the pinch grey bar may help, I'm going to give it a try, thanks.
I want to try and watch the golfer animation to do my swinging instead of watching a meter. Do you think that's possible? Might be difficult on chipping and putting.
I just started playing but that's what works best for me is just looking at my character when I swing. If I look at the meter I like snap the analog stick up and get a lot of very fast snap hooks
I’m never critical of content creators. Respect for offering out tips. But I feel this is a really bad idea and an awful tip , unless people are really struggling and playing on less than pro settings. But if you’re on master and maybe even pro then you really CANNOT afford to shrink your forgiveness and swing plane zones. You should want to try and develop a consistent swing and start your down swing earlier and aim for 95-100% swing power and getting a white % power bar. Sometimes you need a 101% red and a fast swing on purpose to get a few extra yards on a shot for example (and aiming right). But yea bottom line for me in master difficulty is DO NOT reduce your zones! Nothing personal and I don’t like to comment negatively. Keep up the work 👍🏽
Think you’ve misunderstood, he is trying to time it literally before it starts shrinking. Think of the pulse and the pulse through the controller as a warning ⚠️ he also said at the beginning of the vid that it was important in swing calibration to maintain a smooth swing.
It would be nice to get an explanation on the timing from the people who created it because it seems super random at times..people say takeaway speed has nothing to do with the timing but i can take it back super slow and hammer the stick forward and still get a slow or vice versa.I play sim mostly and started with legendary swing and there was a period of a few days where i could hit perfect after perfect shot on the range but on course it seemed super random.Now its just super inconsistent so you cannot even really play for your fast or slow swing
