I think Junny expressed real issues we deal with in modern communication. There isn’t a class in school that teaches texting manners and rules. When you write a letter there is a certain format to use and rules to follow for being polite or professional. Also some people expect answers right away when some people don’t check their messages very often.

I don't think it's an age thing. Some people just make sense of language/emojis/punctuations more strongly than others. I'd have understood 'sounds good!' to be colder than 'sounds good!!!' intuitively too!
I'm older than Harry and I totally relate to Junny on this one tho. But tbh I also have this feeling that older ppl care less about emojis and the punctuation thing or don't read it well.
Junny was *not overthinking* he legit had a very good point regarding the teary eyed emojis and '!'. I feel the same as him. They were just bullying him at his point.😭
I totally get what Junny says. Imagine one of your friends texts you "I wanna die😭😭😭". You would think he/she had a bad day or had an embarrassing moment and it isn't really serious about it. But what if you received the same message without the "😭😭😭"???? I would think something wrong is going on.
Answering Junny's question, "sounds good!" Sounds cold bc it's like that person doesn't really care about it but "sounds good!!!" kinda means the person is genuinely excited
Honestly junny’s right tho there is a difference,, i think they couldn’t understand cus theyre on the older side so the texting may be different for their age group but for genz’s junnys defo right
Junny is such a cutie I totally understand him with the emojis. If you aren’t familiar with the way someone speaks & texts sometimes messages don’t come across the same especially sarcasm 🙃 Btw I don’t think what Junny is saying equalizes being an over thinker but just a different texting style where one uses emojis, punctuation, grammar as the conversation tone indicators 🤷🏻♀️
Ikr ! People always used to mistake my sarcasm as me being rude .. whereas while talking they'd get the whole sarcastic tone thingy but in text it just comes off as rude ..so i just use a lott of emojis .. that's the only way lol 😅
Yea, like i would read a text with different tone and emotion if its like 'I'm bored.' And 'i'm boredd 😭😭' the added emoji and letter, makes it different
Junny buddy I feel you “sounds good!” Could just be them not wanting to use all caps but lowk cold depending who is texting and “sounds good!!!” Seems as if they’re actually excited
Also, the pandemic has been tough on a lot of people’s mental health. If the friend is depressed or anxious because of the pandemic/social isolation, their ability to socialize and communicate as usual may be affected. Some people isolate themselves from others when they are depressed. I’d tell the writer to not take it personally.
Thank you for mentioning! That’s what I was thinking. All the anxiety that comes from the pandemic can be very difficult and each person handles it differently. I understand the person who wrote the email being worried, but it might just be that the friend is battling something now. I miss hugging people. Sometimes a hug can do wonders. I just hope we can have those soon.
True but I feel like they could have said that or something like “I’m not avoiding you I’m just going through something rn” especially when they brought it up the first time. From the other friend’s perspective it just seems like they are avoiding them or don’t want to be friends anymore. Communication in relationships is always important since it would help avoid situations like these.

If the friend is ignoring you (which it seems like) maybe don't push the friend to get back to talking to you. Let it be, and find other friends to talk to. I know it hurts but you can always find reliable friends who are not shady like these.
i totally can relate with junny!!! sometimes while im messaging with people i add letters at the end of the word so it can be seen more sincere. like writing “what are you doinnnn” instead of “what are you doin?” idk i was thinking if im the only one who really thinks about it but i guess i’m just a regular overthinker too😭😭
Yeah, I agree with some of the comments here about people’s mental health situations affecting their communication. During the pandemic, I find that my friend’s social battery run low, so it’s hard to keep chatting on a daily basis (for example). Especially if they are in school or do work remotely…being engaged online constantly can drain your energy very quickly! Take your time to learn each other’s boundaries and be open to changes. You have to be a bit more independent, but honestly communicating how you feel will work out for the most part. Can’t wait for more content 🥰
I completely understand Junny's pov because I'm just like that. 😅 If I want to sound cold or am sad, I do not send any emojis or worse... give a period at the end of a sentence. 😂😂
i can totally relate to junny like the use of punctuation marks and how many they put makes it different and so is the use of different emojis cuz sometimes their emoji choices can turn the text to whole new level and it can be misleading and idk y is dat

Haha I’m deaaad!!! When everyone was telling JUNNY he overthinks I couldn’t disagree more! I also over think about exclamation marks and I have questioned the usage of “😭” before because I also use it to express humor instead of actual crying lol
junny is so real for noticing that tho cos sentences with "!" can be interpreted as sarcastic like " i love doing hw ! " compared to " i love doing hw !!!!"( more enthusiastic)
I relate to the girl so much! I also feel like I am getting ignored by bffs and I didn't like it. I confronted them. Then they were fine for few weeks and again they go M.I.A. I don't like it but I just got to live with it. I guess....
Texting is always hard because like Harry and Peniel said.. there's no emotion to it so we ADD our own "attitude" to the message which may not be the correct tone
yes junny there is a difference...omg all of other three 😂 definitely but it depends on the history of person u are texting! u have to know their texting history to catch those subtleties! and if the person has always been like that than thats just the way they communicate via text like ash mentioned hers! p.s yeayyy!!!
