In my opinion, the effective fighter inventory for defensive and offensive posture for Philippine Air Force are: > 24 units KF 21 Boramae - starting 2027 to compete with other countries for stealth multirole > 48 units F-16V for air superiority role > 48 units FA-50 Block 20 for reconnaisance & interdiction role > 24 units JAS 39 Gripen E/F if granted by Sweden but if not 36 units of Hal Tejas Mk1 as fighter/bomber role

I just saw the fighter inventory of Philippine Air Force during the time of his father late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr which can be considered a credible defense and offense posture with over a hundred units with air superiority roles, interdiction and reconnaissance roles and fighter bombers roles. Hopefully this ambitious inventory will be materialized with PBBM so that our country can gain a foothold in terms of armed forces and not relying more in the US.
Wishful thinking? There is a lack of urgency in the legislature to grant more money to the afp. They're waiting for the second coming of Jesus to save them. The KF-21 is still undergoing testing, therefore, it is not combat ready. The F-16 is an outdated design. The FA-50 is not an interceptor, but 4 additional units should be under consideration as a stopgap fighter. I like 16 units of the Gripen E due to its short takeoff and landing ability if airfields were neutralized. Anti-ship and anti-aircraft batteries are more important. The Philippine archipelago should be treated as unsinkable ships bristling with missiles.

I hope we can get our Philippine friends F-35 s soon , since advanced stealth capabilities are so critical. When you can show up on the wing of an aircraft that wanders into your airspace without them even detecting you it’s a very powerful deterrent 🙂

AFP should make a purchase already, Jas39 or F16 are both good MRF, but in terms of more spare parts available i would go for F16, and now there are a lot of countries that are decommissioning their F16, means more available aircraft we can purchase in the future, now Jas39 are also good in terms of operational cost is much cheaper! but components are hard to get! so we need to rely on Sweden for parts! but again both are the best MRF for us, for future aircraft we can go for the New SKorean Borome or the new Turkish TAI aircraft!

Would there be chance they will creat Visayas and Mindanao Corridor? It seems that much of the benefits from the proposed investments will only benefit those who lives in the Luzon Island. I hope that the Government of the Philippines will give consideration for investments to flow to other areas of the country aswell. PAF should Fastrack to acquire the US F16 , as DND Sec. G. Teodoro said the acquisition should be 40 to 50 units in opening salvo . Pilipinos believe we have the means , as rumors spreading out that we are one of the richest country in the world . Submarines , warships , missiles , rockets , MBT , trucks we have to acquire as soon as possible .

The US airforce can deter China from attacking Phillipines, so Phillipines should lean on the US to do this. Phillipines should focus more on the naval offensive strike to deter China from Phillipines seas and China claimed maritime assets , and sit under the US shield for air defence and defence of Phillipines mainland.

Oan, ph air force personnel speak more eloquently than the other branches of their military.
