Maddie, I swear you are the intersection of wisdom for many communities. I’m a white gay man and without you (and Craig!) I wouldn’t know about a lot of the goings on in the black community or from the POV of POC. You help teach a lot of people learn and understand communities they’re not a part of.

I’m a heterosexual woman and you drop gems 💎 about your experiences with men. I then can keep my kids from being fooled by men and hopefully keeping my kids from catching something you can cure. Craig has healed me from his experiences and you both gave me education on dating these trifling me. My parents were married for 50 years until death angels took my mom. Then my dad died 2 years later. Dad kept it real too but its things you shared that will help me along the way!!

Gathering my 46 year old memory. Maddie has always gotten upset about violence against children, trans, and especially women vs another blogger clowning.
Speak truth, Craig... it takes time for a parent to grasp, knowing/learning that their child sexual preference is not what their birth right were as a child. Nevertheless, a "Mother's" 💞 is unmatched. And, once it is accepted that "Mother" is very protective of her baby. This is a good conversation. In my younger days, I sneaked out to the club and would get back on the porch with my step bother/friends as if we were outside playing cards...sitting before the parent knew I was gone. 😂

I love Moe for how passionate he feels about this subject and keeping Trans kids safe. Here's my perspective, and I think it ties a lot of things y'all spoke on together. Like you, Maddie, my mother also went thru a bit of a grief period in regards to my transition. I agree that just because parents don't use pronouns and new names right away, it does not mean they don't have love for their child. As of today, however, my mother can now say that she always saw it in me and even is able to to talk to coworkers and friends about their queer children and share how she would and could have done things differently. My thing is this...I think more parents should seek counseling and help and resources when they either observe their child to be different in any kind of way or upon their child coming out to them. It would aid in them navigating they that process and make it easier for them to have the tough conversations with their kids. I don't think it's on these apps or the internet or whatever to keep kids safe, but perhaps if this young girl and girls like the victims of R. Kelly had supportive, open communication with their parents, they wouldn't need to sneak interactions with dangerous men. I'm HIV+ & I contracted the virus within the 1st year of me coming out at age 21. My mother was not able to handle conversations about sex and gender and being safe with me. Perhaps if she was, then things would have turned out differently. Perhaps if a young Trans girl was able to talk with her parents about her interest in dating and they could discuss the appropriate and safe ways to do so, this could have been avoided. I'm not blaming anyone other than the murderer for what happened to her, but unfortunately this has become a normal part of the Trans community particularly for femmes. We get murdered and we get blamed for it, but what if we never had to be in spaces with these threatening and volatile men because we had more accepting families and guidance instead of turning to anonymous ppl online to make us feel affirmed and wanted? This is such a vital conversation worth having on PHAG Tawlk and I thank y'all for breaching the topic.
