Assam is for the indigenous people of Assam like Bodo, Mising, Keot(Kaibarta), Tiwa(Lalung), Rabha, Deori, Kalita, Ahom, Moran, Koch-Rajbongshi, Dimasa, Karbi etc who have been living in this region before colonialism in 1826 not for immigrants like Bengalis(both Hindu and Muslim), Biharis, Marwaris etc. Bengalis are mostly mixed Aryan-Dravidian. Whereas the indigenous Assamese people are mostly Austric or Mongoloid in origin. The culture, traditional dresses, traditional food, traditions and customs of the indigenous Assamese people are completely similar to South-East Asia and are completely different from mainland Indians.
